It’s not a matter of enough reds, it’s a matter of getting the specific red illusions or cosmetics you actually want… I’ve played most of my hours on Shade, still haven’t gotten my red daggers, but I’ve gotten 5 or 6 of the exact same red beam staff illusion, a weapon I never use. Sure I scrapped them and made some red daggers but that’s not really the point.
The loot system in this game is awful and if Lohners Emporium provides a way to get specific things you want, then no one is going to be playing legend (much less Cata) for the loot.
Tell me about it, i recently got a hat that brought me over having half (23/45), and i have all those not relying on RNG… I even made a list. An effin’ list.
So I have 800 hours in; I probably didn’t start doing legend until around 500 (late bloomer, I know). I have a group of friends who play Cata, they have all the reds they want/need (1000 - 1500 hours); I don’t. This is to say, sometimes our play setting is established by the group, and we play on that setting out of social obligation. I would enjoy getting emp vaults from Cata games, and I’m not muddying the waters by getting into that setting before I’m ready… though, if I’m being fair, I probably still die in 60% - 70% of the Cata games I play, but let’s be real, that’s what that setting is designed to do.
Long story short, I think the requirement to beat the 4 lords on legend is a sufficient lock out. I can understand the ideology of the chest limitation, but I don’t agree with it.
Locking a difficulty behind a paywall is pretty greedy, if you ask me, even more greedy is the WoM selling price. $30AUD, that’s 66% of the price of the base game, which is $44.95AUD when it’s not on sale. The other two DLCs are only $15AUD, which seems about right price wise, but those DLCs have more content (actual maps, weaves don’t count since they’re recycled maps) then WoM, so Fatshark really needs to pull their bloody heads in and fix WoM unreasonable price tag. Because if you don’t care about weaves, then WoM isn’t worth its current asking price. Should just separate weaves and the rest of the content entirely if you ask me. Split them into $10AUD DLCs.
A lot of people who can handle Cataclysm simply don’t play it, because they don’t see the point. I’ve done almost all the maps once on cata, and I don’t see any reason to repeat them since they offer the same loot as Legend. Nothing exclusive worth playing for besides the banners.
Just add good loot and maybe competent people will play it, less competent people will learn it, and we’ll get a bigger player pool so I don’t struggle to find 1 cata game in my region.
No, Cata is optional, there shouldnt be more incentive to play it than just harder difficulty, otherwise its gonna be second legend and legend qp already quite can.cerous
Imo once you’re past the 500-1000 hour mark the game isn’t really about loot anymore or shouldn’t be and like in other threads before said I’m against better loot on cata …
Simple reason if you’re really rdy for cata you normally have enough playtime and experience to know that reds are not the break point to a successful run , decent rolled oranges are more then enough .
Bringing better loot there would just make ppl play it that are not ready for it cause they would feel forced to it cause they think they need reds.
And then they would start crying about making it more excesabl cause they want the loot .
Imo Cata is meant to be endgame content for skilled ppl that play for the challenge…
The price I think is ok .
Just think about how long you’re playing this NOT FULL PRICE game. And if you want to keep on playing just think about it as an investment to support the devs that want to keep this game alive for some years. Should they do it for free ?? I dont think so…
It’s fine to think like this as long as you realize it’s going to mean the Cata playerbase will always and forever be incredibly, extremely small. I see literally no downside to giving another incentive for people to want to play the difficulty, even if you and others think they “aren’t ready for it” (which is ridiculous, by the way, and could have just as easily been said about Legend before Cata released).
Well I do agree with the real need of better rewards. I do not agree with the need of making it free. Especially since it requires : a DLC and a completed challenge. It should filter enough new players as it is.
Since there are more than enough ppl already that just want to get carried through legend on qp I dont think its necessary to bring them to cata as well… I dont care if the qp playerbase is small as long the few ppl who play it come for the challenge cause they’re done with legend.
But that’s just my opinion.
