Make cataclysm a free dlc and add better loot to it

Im not thousands of hours in like some people, am like 600ish, but I don’t know that ive ever played a game where someone was trying to be carried for loot, and if I have it isnt significant enough of an occurrence to recall.

My main is unchained, I have all sienna reds, and can do legend runs successfully with uc. So my best shot at cata is with uc. If I am farming chests for non mains (currently doing this) and not playing fun builds it makes more sense for me currently to play legend because I can try and get reds for elf and dorf, who are my least played chars, but if I could get an extra commendation chest in cata then it would be more worth playing cata with my best class instead of playing legend, which doesnt make me better at cata and further splits the community away from cata. If I’m playing for difficulty I can play a non main on legend, and if I’m playing for fun i can run a non meta fun build on uc or another class on legend and be rewarded for success.

I dont see any appeal currently to cata except playing with people who are good, and frames.

I think I agree that cata should be free I dont see many non endgame players playing it because it makes more sense if you arent endgame to play legend, at least currently

Free DLC yes,

better loot nope.

If you still need loot, better stay Legend. Cata should be played solely for the challenge. It is such a relief not having to collect those books and stay in the killing flow. I love it, though more players would be awesome, so make it free, yes, yes.

I am more on the side of motivating inexperienced players get better through challenge and playing with the more elite helps too. I just want a bigger player pool., New cata players either want to learn how to swim or they sink and leave but lately there are not even many legend games going on in the medium search. … Glad you posted though, good point about the Book collecting on cata with loot benifits, that would not be helpful. But the cosmetic reward would be cool!

I’ve seen a couple people who were clearly not quite ready for the difficulty level they’re playing on, but I don’t get why people act like that really matters honestly.

Everyone is bad for a while when they make the jump to a new difficulty, and I don’t think there’s any content outside weaves that a single bad player can make impossible.

There being no rewards at all for cata and barely anyone playing it in my region turns me off playing it way more than there being some people who want a skin or an extra chest or something.

I also don’t personally find it so hard that I’d start a cata lobby when I’m looking for a super challenging option. It just seems a little pointless currently.

As long as rewards don’t change, I’m strongly opposed to the free dlc difficulty dlc.

Obviously, long time veterans that are actually able to do Cataclysm (and wants to do it) can dish usd 14 on the game they’re playing a lot.

Others don’t “need” to access Cataclysm as they’re not ready for it (and it doesn’t reward more). Yet.

If rewards were to change, then, yeah, why not. Still have to give something specific to WoM owners in exchange though in order to not devalue the expansion.

No one should have to pay to unlock a difficulty. Locking weapons and maps behind a paywall is one thing, but locking a difficulty behind a paywall is ridiculous. The game isn’t even free to play and FS is asking people to pay $16 for a DIFFICULTY.

Maybe WOM wouldn’t be sitting at “mostly negative” reviews right now if you weren’t forced to pay for basic parts of the game that already has an upfront cost.

Says no game since the beginning of expansions.

And new mode, and a new faction, and weapons, and a new map (and new challenges, and new frames).

No one force you anything, you have all the basics parts of the game in the “base” game. You can even level up to 35 without the expansion, which none of the existing expansions for others games that up the level limit usually does. (including Borderlands and Diablo)

Go ahead and name 5 games that aren’t complete dumpster fires that lock base game difficulties behind a paywall.

A dead game mode that no one cares about, a set of new mobs that should also be free, a set of new weapons and 1 new map which should be their own seperate dlc for like $8. Go ahead and take a look at the steam reviews if you wana try and justify the price, my opinion isn’t the minority here.

I was playing Cata a while back and a friend wanted to join me but he didn’t have WOM. So either he was forced to buy WOM or I was forced to play legend.

You know if you don’t want to support fatshark there is still onslaught mod, and all your arguments are pointless in that way.
Thats why I say they need to do microtransactions for cosmetic because ppl can’t see outside their “I WANT IT NAOW”
They made their policy to not use microtransaction but dlc, but as we see people prefer to pay more for less.

  • Diablo 3
  • Frozen Throne (it’s not a new difficulty, but you can’t play any expansionned game with a player who do not own the expansion, so it kinda lock out the whole GAME behind the expansion)
  • World of Warcraft (subscription based, but you still pay the game, AND the expansions)
  • Monster Hunter World (Iceborne)
  • Borderlands 2 ( Overpowered - Ultimate Vault Hunter Pack 2)

Well, if you want the devs to work for nothing, that’s called slavery. And despite your opinions (even if it’s not minority), it’s not great.

It’s a set of new mobs, that SHOULD not be free by industry standards (as you know, work is not free). A set of new weapons. 1 new map. And 40 themed maps made from existing and new material and that are being cycled that you didn’t like but that still were worked on.

Separating dlc means less sales overall. So I’m waiting for you to run your game, and ask nothing for new content, and separate “not basic gameplay only” dlc in 100 different dlc. I’ll see how it works for you heh !

I was playing Vermintide 2 a while back and a friend wanted to join me but he didn’t have Vermintide 2. So either he was forced to buy Vermintide 2 or I was forced to play another game we both had.

WOW and Frozen Throne is the equivalent to weaves in V2. It’s not a base game difficulty it’s a new game mode entirely. The other 3 are outliars that can get away with it because they don’t have dwindling player populations.

Who said I want the devs to work for nothing? If anything I want them to start making meaningful content that I can buy. How about they start adding actual skins instead of just boring recolours? I love V2 and seeing Fatshark waste it’s potential on garbage like weaves is frustrating.

You’re saying that as if it’s not just the adventure maps flipped around with 1 or 2 new pathways and a few crystals sprinkled around.

Ah yes the old “do it yourself” argument, because I’m not allowed to criticize Fatshark on their bad dlc content unless I’m an accomplished game developer.

Shame that you can’t play with your friend, you should convince him to buy the game, it’s pretty good. Just make sure to let him know that if he wants to play on the highest difficulty with you he’ll have to pay an extra $16 on top of the $25 upfront. Also let him know if he does pay the extra $16 he won’t be able to find any lobbies on Cata because it’s a dead gamemode thanks to a ridiculous paywall.

yeah Frozen throne is the equivalent, since you can’t play ANY game with players that do not own the expansion (note that it was precised, so no need to act smart on this one).

The others 4. Not 3.

That wasn’t asked. Obviously, only the most successful games will have expansions. If you don’t have money, you won’t do an expansion.

You want content for free. They don’t need to provide you ANYTHING for free. The fact that they does should make you happy.

New faction, new mode, new weapon, and new difficulty are all meaningful content. Again, the fact that you don’t like the meaningful content, does not prove it’s not meaningful.

They do. Next cosmetics dlc are not “boring recolors”.

Still waiting for your modded content that does flip around map and add a few crystal. That should not be work at all.

Because you actually don’t understand how works mean being paid, yeah, you should do it yourself.

Shame that you can’t play with your friend Cataclysm Difficulty, you should convince him to actually buy the expansion that contain it with all new kinds of stuff like a new faction, new weapons, new challenges and frames, new map, and an hefty new mode of play so he doesn’t think like you that he pays 16 usd “for a difficulty” like you believe.
Also let him know that he will be able to find people on various discord just fine to play with if he can’t quick play.
Or even that he can skip buying Cataclysm and play Onslaught & Deathwish in modded difficulties since Cataclysm does not gives real new rewards beside the challenge.

Vermintide 2 is a shining example of this not being the case.

Yeah that’s called the industry standard. A lot of games are making content for free nowadays, it’s not unreasonable to excpect Fatshark to do so. However I never said I want ALL content to be free, so stop acting like I want FS to be my personal slaves. I understand this is a business and they need money to continue going.

It’s not meaningful content if no one is playing it.

Almost 2 years after release.

If 90% of other games are an example to go by then I’m going to assume it’s not hard to do.

No, I think I do understand how it works. As I said above I understand FS needs money to continue developing V2.

Again, minority opinion.

When your game is so devoid of players that you have to go to discord just to find people to play with I think something is wrong. Could it be the ridiculous paywall? thonking

Vermintide 2 sold 2+ millions copies worldwide. That’s a clear success.

Oh yeah ? Because I don’t remember a lot of games providing content for free and not selling expansions/dlc/season passes… Except for… free to play. (which is another term for “pay all the cosmetics” or “pay 2 win”)

Did you hear about hats or V1 skins ?

Fact != opinion. Fact, there’s more content than “a new difficulty”. Ignoring facts is your issue. Not mine.

If you have several living discord communities where you find people to play with, then your game is far from dead. Again, facts are not opinions.

Look at all that success. So much success.

Total War Warhammer, Killing Floor 2, Terraria, R6 Siege, Stardew Valley, Fortnite (save the world) just to name a few.

Yeah they copy/pasted a few skins from the first game, so what?

Fact is no one plays that new “content” so it may as well not even exist.

Here’s some facts for you.

Thanks for the link. It actually proves it’s successful.

Total War Warhammer : Have, for the 1st one, 80 euros of dlc, and is 60 euros itself. Which is way more than Vermintide + all its dlc.
Killing Floor 2 have cosmetic boxes. Like Team Fortress 2.
Terraria have no expansion.
Stardew Valley have no expansion.
Fortnite is a F2P.

So I don’t really know the point you’re trying to make besides randomly naming a few games. Congrats.

So what ? So, there is “actual no remodel skins” since the beginning of the game. Copy pasta or not doesn’t really change.

If you see the leaderboard you can see that actually a good number of players did play that content. If what you want to say is that it is far from perfect, I do agree. If what you want to say is that the work they’ve done should be free because you didn’t like the new content, I disagree.

Thanks for proving that 4k players in a coop full pve game is “nothing” to you, but it’s actually a pretty alive community.

Way less than :
Left 4 Dead 2 - Steam Charts Left 4 Dead 2 (have pvp)

Similar to :
Deep Rock Galactic - Steam Charts Deep Rock Galactic
Grim Dawn - Steam Charts Grim Dawn
Borderlands 2 - Steam Charts Borderlands 2
Titan Quest Anniversary Edition - Steam Charts Titan Quest: AE
(which are not dead games at all)

Way more than :
Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide - Steam Charts Vermintide 1
Left 4 Dead - Steam Charts Left 4 Dead 1 (have pvp)
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel - Steam Charts Borderlands Pre Sequel
Borderlands GOTY Enhanced - Steam Charts Borderlands
Torchlight II - Steam Charts Torchlight 2

To cover the pve coop games (some of which having pvp).

Quite the opposite, actually, it doesn’t even make the top 100 most played on steam, for a game that relies heavily on the multiplayer ascept i’d say that’s pretty grim.

You asked for games that were buy to play and add free content updates so I gave you 6. Also I specifically said save the world for Fortnite.

Lol you’re just grasping at straws at this point.

I did see the leaderboard because I’m on it. And no, very few players did the weaves which is why I had such a hard time finding people to do them with, even in discord.

I’m saying Cata should be free. If they wana keep the weaves and everything else locked behind a paywall then go ahead.

Let’s add to your list, shall we?

Destiny 2 - 96k avg players
Warframe - 43k avg players
Payday 2 - 29k avg players
MHW - 23k avg players

Also the avg players for V2 is 3k, not 4k and it’s only at 3k thanks to a recent sale.

Safe to say this game is currently dying. Until Fatshark adds good content (which I hope they do) it’s going to keep getting worse.

Anyway I’m done arguing here, seems like we can just agree to disagree. Have a nice day.

My bad, so point taken for terraria, and stardew valley, the others are not providing only free content. (so they act as v2, selling some content, adding some content for free)

You say there’s no cosmetic other than recolor > I tell you that there are hats, and vt1 skins, which are not recolor > You tell me I’m grasping at straws oO

I did struggle myself, but it mostly applies to higher weaves. Note that the devs already communicated on the issue, and try to solve it with following seasons. I agree that you don’t find enough people to play until the end.

And I did say it should not “IF IT KEEPS THE SAME REWARDS”. I also said it should be, if it brings up better rewards, as long as you reward owners of WoM accordingly with another content (as it’s been a part of what you sold to them).

Destiny 2 > F2P model
Warframe > F2P model
So both are irrelevant.

Payday 2 indeed, is what Vermintide should strive for. And the perfect example of what Vermintide 2 did follow as a curve => They did lose a lot of players for a while, and, thanks to continued development, did bring back players.

MHW is a mixed deal as it’s a well known licence which also did copy paste a lot of old content. But hey, okay, let’s add it to the list if you feel happy. Note that MHW is adding a new difficulty gated behind its new expansion Iceborne (Also note that it’s a part of my previous list).

Collecting books has almost always been part of the challenge for most experienced players on legend. I’ll be really happy to see it happen regularly on cata.
