Lucius Helbore Lasguns need a damage buff

After the kantrael infantry lasguns got a damage buff with patch 14, they have really out shined the helbore lasguns in most regards. The buff to the bayonet damage is nice, but I feel like they could also stand to get a buff in damage to uncharged/charged shots. The addition of an optic like that on the kantrael lasguns would also go a long way in improving the helbores

agree, the hellbore has one of the worst ironsight in the game and while punchy it doesn’t make the charge time and ammo cost worth it compared to kantrel or even the zarona.

I still wish they would just remove the charge system and use the charged stats as the base stats. Make them slow firing, hard hitting, and less ammo efficient compared to the kantrael lasguns.

Yeah, the new hp buff to elite enemy doesn’t help it either.

Honestly they could buff it back to when it used to have a bug that make it deal massive damage to Orgryn enemy and it would still be good state. I could use Laspistol to kill a Crusher faster than using Helbore.

Also maybe make it actually good against Maniac/Specialist, the long draw time and having to charge shot already suck but not being able to get rid of specialist in single full charge headshot can totally ruin your life.

I highly doubt that.

The default Lasgun is supposed to be the DMR but acts as a better Sniper than the Helbore, which it shouldn’t. Helbore Lasguns need these custom sights or at least a decent damage buff to close the gap between it and the default Lasgun.

Mine doesn’t struggle that badly against Crushers, but the Helbore does still need to do more damage than a Standard Lasgun because it’s a Lasrifle. However, the Helbore bayonet does not need any tweaking. Please do not nerf our bayonet charge, it’s finally a useful stagger/reflex kill tool.

I think they either need a damage buff or a blessing that gives rending based on charge time. Make it so the T4 gives 100%/120% rending if the shot is fully charged.

The combat knife and revolver get so much rending, its kinda funny that the, supposedly, dedicated sniper weapon doesnt

It also depend entirely on your build I guess, if you spec for full sharpshooter build with +weakspot damage and deadshot you could probably have faster kill time on Crusher.

What I showed is on melee Vet build which obviously have Onslaught that favour more faster shooting gun.

The Stub Revolver from, like, 40,000 years prior to Darktide’s setting is performing better than a Lasrifle designed to suit the Imperium’s more modern needs. Like, the Stub Revolver, with the right build, can put Bolters to shame.

You made me interested in the weapon customization mod…

I guess that soon, cause of FS decisions, we will all have our own cosmetics / weapon models / weapon texture that will be displayed only locally.
And then, they will loose the income source…

Wanting to restrict freedom too much can have consequences…
At least I am happy… with the mods incoming, now you can choose, for solo games, to take one of your char as bot, you can select enemies that will be in missions, you can even cheat and finally you can also build a weapon without any of the crafting restrictions…
There’s even a mod to run server locally (so I guess it means bye bye soon the need to connect to make a solo)
Let’s say it… Modders have proven that Fatshark has no will to change their QoL policy (that could be described as: more you spend time to try to achieve one simple thing, better it is to sell our cosmetics) as introducing such cool features should be easier when you have an entire team of programmers.
As we said in my country (don’t know if the google translation will be correct) “By pulling on the elastic, it breaks”.
Fatshark pulls so much weight on this elastic, that it could break at any time.

That, and their cosmetics policy (prices, lack of customization, simple recolor / retexture, weapons “skins” that are models etc.)

Nice - what builds did you use for either gun?

Did you try the Mk III?

Oh you mean like how the weapon is described in EVERY BLOODY 40k source. Hits hard and a longer range at the price of a slower rate of fire and fewer shots per pack.

Of course then FS would have to start bringing the other lasguns into compliance too. Say giving them their select-fire ability, maybe letting some have the option of lights, bayonet, or grenade launcher. You know, the stuff that a cursory read through of an Imperial guard codex makes clear is available. And FatShark seems to be allergic to doing work related to fixing their screw ups. I

Hellbores absolutely need better optics. Perhaps a new pattern or just equip all hell ores with a reflex or preferably a variable zoom scope?

I really feel that the game would have been better without so many redundant weapon variants, like 3-4 for each weapon type would be fine. Lasguns could have been recon, infantry, and helbore with weapon customization to change the stats. Autogun could have been braced, infantry, burst fire, and single shot. So much less clutter in the shop, and a smaller loot pool to help get what you’re looking for.

I’d honestly already be happy with a glowing frontpost and a faster Bayonet. Though yes, when I use one, I constantly wonder why. Sure, I get good milage out of one, but I could do better with almost anything else, against almost anything else.

Personally, I kinda agree on the dmg piece, and I pray to the god emperor everyday for the optics part. A caveat though, it is also worth noting that if you set up your build right nothing but a John Wick type with a revolver/plasma can out-damage a competent vet with a god roll helbore. The breakpoints are way too tight on it atm, getting consistent 1 to 2 shots on the hel3 requires a near perfect godroll and a heavily min-maxed talent tree set up. Talent-wise it’s one of the few that gives you enough leeway for utility picks though, so I doubt FS will ever give us more forgiving breakpoints on it. This is on a vet-to-vet comparison though, any decent zealot/psyker/ogryn can run rings around even the sweatiest of helbore veterans. If any changes on it are a must (other than the sights) IMO its probably a mobility and draw speed boost. The bayonet animations could also use a speed up too.

Unfortunately this isn’t 40k Tarkov (or insert “this isn’t CoD” meme here), so I doubt we’ll ever get firearms that perform like actual firearms. Instead we’ll just get videogame guns, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing IMO, but I also wish they were more realistic. The caveat being though that such a new set up would destroy balance and force FS to design something deeper than just sh^t charging at you and clown car spawns. Ranged enemies would need some semblace of actual small unit tactics too, even if heavily scripted. My point being that the end result would be an entirely different game, but a man can dream though.

Weapon special being a swap instead of torch isn’t a mindblowing change in complexity. Lasguns not having a fire mode switch is a sin.
