Hello everyone, console player here, just wanted to voice my opinions. The poor state of the game on the PC version of Darktide and more so the severe lack of communication on Fatshark’s part for the unreleased Xbox version(which has still has had no news almost 6 weeks later) has soured the excitement I had for the game and my willingness to support Fatshark in this and possibly future games. I had pre ordered the game even though it was coming to gamepass, but after the preorder was cancelled I remained hopeful. Six weeks after the initial release date of PC where they said we would have news without any has made me rethink my support entirely. All in all, the situation is really disrespectful to the community and their supporters, entirely unacceptable and eye opening for me.
TLDR: Fatshark neglecting players and community sucks
But think about [company]s fiscal year! The game had to come out in 2022 no matter its state. And then it’s three weeks vacation time for the swedes, so naturally, complete radio silence was the best option! Well at least you had a smoothly rotating premium cosmetics shop to tide you over, after the half hearted updates post launch, whose features were reduced after they were announced.
I wouldn’t get your hopes up for the console release. First the game is in a poor state in general. Also with the present state of fps performance on PC, I don’t think you want a repeat of Cyberpunk 2077 experience on consoles, do you?
Trust me, my hopes are not high anymore, I’m mostly upset about them neglecting console players and ignoring pleas for any information on the release. I wouldn’t care if they said it was going to be 6 months later, but that’s the thing, they’ve said nothing.
They really set themselves up for a PR disaster here. Launching the game in the state it’s in right before a big holiday break is a great way to build up resentment in the community. I’d be really interested to know what’s going on behind the scenes with Fatshark and Tencent that made this happen.
Honestly kind of envious that console players’ first experiences with the game will probably be much better than PC players’. I feel so burned by this company after the last couple months.
You can basically only ‘run’ this game (with dips) on next gen hardware. It still runs extremely hard. My rig can handle everything the game throws at it but some rooms will tank performance with nothing going on, and even minimizing lighting settings/post processing does nothing. It will probably be more like a year+ delay between the PC and console launch, like with VT1. Which was still a buggy mess come launch on console, but less so.
