Lore, Careers and Questions

I must to say that there is a small plot hole here:

Regardless, by the time the greenskins finally did come a-knocking at the door, neither keep was able to offer much in the way of resistance, although the garrisons surely tried.

Let’s say all these skeletons, skulls and bones lying everywhere in the Keep are the remains of a dead garrison. But where, then, are da bonez and skullz of da orks? :motorcycle:

Also, [offtopic]: if we are talking about voices and strange sounds, then this coffin on the event map makes very strange sounds.

In the next story, I want to see the lifting of the veil over this mystery. What happened here? Er … Did Ubersreik 5 dance with this coffin!?

Do Orks have bones ? Do they turn to dust faster than humans bone ?

For example, ork’s teeth are very strong. Orks use it as money. The most hard currency in Warhammer!

The voice our heroes hear in The Curse of Drachenfels is credited in the subtitles as The Nameless, which is Drachenfels’ disembodied spirit.

Originally posted on the FLC big post but moving it here because it’s more appropriate.

FLC’s new entry Taal’s Horn Keep speaks of a few things.

You see, folk think this place is named for Taal’s hunting horn. But in the earlier depictions, Taal has two bloody great antlers. That’s where these two keeps got their names.

and

Turns out the baron who ordered their raising was a devout follower of the Hunter God,

  • So from these two passages it is speaking on follower of gods (good gods?) and changing of meanings or legends being changed. @Ghoth1ckov1tch was giving some background in one of my post on the gods of law that opposed the gods of chaos… Maybe this is linked to it some how? Maybe linked to Victors dialogue in the teasers? Can that even be possible? I don’t know the warhammer lore as much as you guys so is it even a possibility? What’s the story of those gods of order?

There’s a persistent rumour that one of two castellans even retained a hedge wizard to aid in the defence … Only the scruffy old fool ended up calling on rather more of the Winds of Magic than he intended. Routed the greenskins and cursed the fortress at the same time. Nasty business, or so I understand. All tentacles, screams and inky black madness that even a northlander’d baulk at.

The trouble is, I can’t rightly tell which keep collapsed, and which one was left standing … not that the one left standing what you might call good nick. Records are as vague as a Tilean’s wedding vows, if you take my meaning? But I do have my suspicions. Olesya says the Winds of Magic blow strong around here, and that can’t be coincidence, can it?

  • IDK if the first paragraph has any significance but it made me laugh. But the second one could be telling us more about what is in store for the keep construction, maybe?

Still, I’m sure the others’ll let me know if they start hearing voices, won’t they?

  • But this last sentence is the most telling for me. It completely makes reference to Castle Drachenfels. It has to have some significance in all of this. Also in the entry of FLC’s The Auric Bastion it makes reference to Genevieve Dieudonné if I’m not mistaken. This all has significance I have no doubt.

Agree, Fatshark created a great intrigue - what is actually on Victor’s mind. Good job. There is a lot to guess here, but I’m sure there will be a good surprise.

:raised_hand_with_fingers_splayed: These aren’t the elves you’re looking for.

Besides, I’m still waiting for another badly needed еlven DLC:

It would be nice to release it now (01.04.21 for example). It would be extremely symbolic.

@SmokerT69 Well she did come by the keep.

I just hope Fatshark takes a different turn of events than the current “canon” of the End Times. I mean if they keep going, what are they going to do? Turn this into Age of Sigmar? I’d much rather they have their own timeline here because Age of Sigmar’s story is beyond dumb (big reason is so much of it makes no sense). They renamed all the races which is obnoxious, among all the other things done. Oh yes, Elves are now Elvamomemevaroosh People. Humans are The Great Descendents of Sand and Dirt AKA Diertagigameme.

The fluff is great, but they should really consider making this story of End Times play out differently from the current “canon”. It would make it a lot more interesting too. As OP said, it would be great if Fatshark released stuff uniformly. They’ve always released pieces of information on various platforms. You hear things from streams, steam, official forums, reddit, the official website, and who knows what else, but it’s never done uniformly. It’s so frequently “oh this one is on steam. This one is on reddit. This one is on our website.”. The official forums should have all of this information 100% of the time. People shouldn’t have to comb over every source just to make sure they didn’t miss something.

That isn’t FS’s decision though. They can suggest it but I would be hard pressed that GW would go along with that. That said, as far as I can tell with my minimum lore knowledge there are still years to come in the End times. And hundreds of battles to be fought. There is still enough places the U5 could do something although the later battles are probably out of their league. Maybe we get fortunate and GW is planning some kind of alternate timeline anyway.

EDIT: Some strange cake is aside my name. It tells me to burn down everything O.x

Well, my comment was deleted anyway. Fatshark is just not intelligent enough to create actual hype with what they are currently developing, but at least they know how to create anti-hype.

Seriously Fatshark, you are terrible. Absolutely terrible. I know that Chaos Wastes will be a dissapointment again, because you cant do anything else anymore than dissapointing your customers.

But hey, at least you can censor a light-hearted comment that didnt even spoil anything significant to just get the community a little hyped up. Gratulations, i hope you are proud of what you are doing, but i also hope that you realize that your whole damn company is worse than 5 people making a damn game. Beautiful.

Maybe skip on the insults and passive aggressive behaviour?

And what are you doing if CW is actually epic and well-received? Are you ready to apologize for being wrong or do you just cower silently somewhere?

Sure, but its not going to be. You know it and i know it.

Let me give you an example what Chaos Wastes will have:

  • 5 new weapons
  • hopefully at least 3 new maps, 100% at least one new map
  • maybe a new mode nobody asked for

Thats it.

Edit: Also, where exactly is Fatsharks apology for not giving us dedicated servers? They advertised V2 with this feature. It was on the roadmap. They still wanted to do it the first year after release. Where is it? Oh, Fatpecker eventually just stopped.

if they do not wish to communicate more on the matter, the only decent thing to do is respect their decision.

They dont communicate anymore because of the roadmap. Because THEY made mistakes and the community rightfully backlashed. But instead of learning from their mistakes, they completely shut down. None of this is professional behaviour when you compare it to other developers. Indie and with publisher. There is a reason why communication is so important and a topic in almost every gaming forum.

Literally nothing of that matters. You are free to entertain whatever opinions you want, but you can’t expect to be allowed to divulge information that they do not wish to reveal yet on their own platforms.

Because people are needy.

Anyway: This all is very off-topic. If someone wants to express their yet unjustified disappointment on yet to be released content then there are other topics within this very forum which cover that. For a more detailed discussion why a part of the community is to blame and should take more responsibility.

@OenKrad and @Adelion

The big problem here is that Age of Sigmar is actually (beyond the lies of the hysterical 12-year-old “true fb-fans”) very good, cool and wonderful. Enormous possibilities and endless creative freedom. I love it very much, like the whole Warhammer - no exceptions. No compromise.

I sincerely believe that one day there will be Vermintide 3 in the Age of Sigmar. There is a setting from Warhammer Quest: Cursed City that is absolutely perfect for this type of game.

Fatshark simply cannot ignore this brilliance. Just need rise above hate and have balls.

Maybe we get fortunate and GW is planning some kind of alternate timeline anyway.

For me it is very lucky that the Age of Sigmar appeared, I can say I have been waiting for this for twenty years.

If you want an “alternative timeline” - this is the Blood Bowl. Another world, but very similar to the Old World, but where the races preferred blood sport to war. And even the Dark Gods liked it, so the planet was not blown up there.

being a cynical old git I think AoS was driven largely by a need to trademark all their stuff. I bet al of the new names for the races are completely and solely owned by GW and as such entirely controlled by them. It also freed up a lot of the armeis to fight alongside other armies and really allow players quite a lot more freedom. GW share price since AoS has constantly risen.

That said, AoS made a huge difference to the change in direction of GW, in that they acknowledged that a huge part of their customers never played a game at all, and were in it entirely for the miniatures and painting - ergo GW needed to somewhat stylise their stuff so it was recognisable as theirs as well as making tons more money by reselling stuff.

As for the direction of the lore and careers in VT2, I really hope the U5 keep the faith and maintain their crusade against the Skaven, even if it cost them recognition in the Empire. Their world-weary yet stalwart and stoic fight against their favoured enemy (Skaven) would be soured - for me at least - if they become tainted or corrupted while in the Chaos Wastes.

I really hope they garner the attention of their respective gods who give them a tattoo or something that marks them as favoured by the gods. Keri reaches her tally, Bardin discovers the location of Karak Zoom, Sienna is pardoned, Victor is revered within the Temple etc. The favour of the gods becomes a blessing and a curse as they are still shunned by the authorities as a massive irritation , probably even more so than before, but the U5 become inured to the horrors of chaos and become true heroes of legend before their almost inevitable heroic last stand.

Pls don’t let them die FS, but this is Warhammer after all and I suspect it’ll go badly in the end. :sob:

AoS is there because Warhammer is a Table Top first then a setting, not the other way around

Don’t worry, people saw it before it was deleted

All it accomplished was making me believe you now

I’m still optimistic about CW until I can see what it’s going to include
