I doubt FS is ever going to remove slide dodge as a mechanic.
I wonder how do you even stick around for this long if you hate it that much tbh since most of high level play always involve slide dodge, unless you just tanking through everything and live somehow.
I played dt <1/6 of the time I played VT2
I want DT to be better than VT2 plus I know a metric fuc-ton more about 40k lore then fantasy.
But instead of focusing on their STRONG points of melee combat, they added cringe apex dodge sliding as the only way to mitigate ranged dmg.
They made gunners a issue of quantity instead of quality and you cant really use them to delete their own troops as you could with rattling gunners.
At least they removed the ranged stunlock, darktide was a pure cringefest when that was a thing.
Now they just need to add modifiers where there are only melee enemies, and ranged ones are only specials
And I would enjoy the f-ck out of it.
One of main reason Beastmen from VT2 were unliked, was additon of non-special ranged enemies. Ranged only fights are just plain boring in Fatshark’s games, simple as that.
While gunners and reapers are something more then just random damage spikes, basic shooters are just a nuisance to deal with.
I would welcome reducing their damage even by ~80%, so that we can focus on trully pleasent gameplay, that is dealing with specials and elites, without fear of randomly loosing 1/2 of hp in 1 second because you forget to dodgeslide once.
I would even go so far, to say that Fatshark just don’t understand what is fun about their games at highest level, same as with forcing needless grind onto players.
When i first saw this thread, it didn’t have any comments. I thought - this is stupid, a true solo tryhard complains about game being too easy (not that there’s anything wrong with being one).
But here we are.
I’m curious though, do any people that feel like Auric Damnation is too easy actually think Fatshark has to cater to them, because they are the most loyal players? So there’s a reward warranted for their time being spent playing the game at its absolute hardest?
Yeah, supression works only in tactical games or games with some of such elements, with low ttk where supression helps to win a gunfight for those who start shooting first. You donn’t need to peak around a corner, or lie in the bushes to cause an ambush.
Kinda all of that.
No proper recoil patterns you need to learn. You learn your melee chains, but there in nothing for guns. There is no mini-game with range weapons. Plasmagun is kinda close to that - there is venting, but you don’t interract with that mechanic cause of balance.
Pure idioticy some guns can’t full auto (only with the mod)
No glowing green ironsights makes it painfull to aim, some ads animations sucks, like laspistol gangsta-style, that animation is barely helping with aim.
Range enemies movement is janky sometimes, those random crazy zigzags, unpleasant to track.
Some weapons have meh sound indeed, shotguns sound very toyish, like made of plastic.
Slide is OP, there is no restriction - it doesn’t have limits like dodge, it doesn’t consume stamina like sprint. So it always will be a safe way to deal with shooters, and enemies barely have any counterplay. Like zoners and disablers are there, but they are rushing for you, don’t cover/defend their AI mates as a priority action.
I dont want to be forced to constantly dodge slide, as there is no other mechanic how to consistently avoid ranged dmg.
When I played Beta I was of adamant opinion that lasguns are best weapons even for a zealot, as you have to help clear the room of ranged enemy spam.
And only then you can go in and have fun
Then I saw how broken dodge sliding and stamina regen is and realized where “the skill” of this game lies in.
Pretty much.
It takes skill, knowledge - more than equipment - to complete aurics consistently.
So kudos to that, even if you abuse dodge slide (sometimes with macros, both on slide and dodge) its not ‘easy’ to finish a map like that.
But then when a miniscule nerf happens where enemies dont have csgo autoaim cheats, from the other side of the map, they come to forum crying the game is ‘easy’ again.
Idk maybe you peaked, you are a god, enjoy it?
Or if you still have to prove something, take grey weapons?
Or dont take talents?
That makes the game infinitely harder without f-cking it up for others
Things just should make sense. First two difficulties don’t exist kinda. Game starts with Malice. After that change the hardest difficulty free from any +dockets+exp reward, to cut off the motivation for casual players. The whole point of the HARDEST DIFFICULTY that only some small % of population should be able to handle it, like naturaly born gigamers or nolifers.
The situation when casuals are jumping on Auric-Maelstrom and asking to nerf it cause they can’t handle is an absurd. If people can’t handle something they should nerf their ego first.
Either way it’s like reversed smurfing. Imagine if seasond players were asking to make Malice-Heresy harder? You would say “go play auric wtf”, but when expirienced player saying the same thing for casual players it’s toxic, gatekeeping, and elitism.
But it wasn’t like that. More over zealot and ogryn were more balanced cause of buffed shooters. You have plenty of options to handle no toughness situation
use ultimate
slide in melee to farm toughness and lock shooters in melee
gather for coherency regen
Aswell it was healthy for vet antirange options in combo with Reccon buff.
There was no slide changes, as i mentioned above - slide is still OP, no stamina consumption, no limit.
Aswell as CDR, ultimates are spamable, incase with psyker’s dome there was barely any difference fighting shooters.
Sory, but if anyone was struggling with shooters means they need to improve their build or movement, or both.
Ngl, game become more challenging for me, but cause of trappers range in combo with more hordes. Shooters buff was absolutely great and healthy.
Im confused by people saying the ranged combat is bad. The guns feel as good as any other games i play, they just need better optics. If anything theres way more variety to the shooting because of hitzones, armor types and different weapon handling. Never mind the balance for a second the bolter is a whole different experience compared to a lasgun compared to a braced auto gun. Hell braced autoguns have shooting that more resembles CSGO than COD with the lack of ADS and tap firing. I also dont know why people keep saying there’s no cover. I use it all the time. Like sure, you can’t hold every position but you absolutely can find full and partial cover to mitigate damage from.
Lastly what is this about dodge slide being the only ranged damage mitigation? Just sprint perpendicular to the shooter.
I didn’t felt the change that much…maybe because dodging and killing those shooters prevents them from damaging us. But I guess whining for nerfs is the easy way.
Did they sneak an unchange to the unchange to the change in today’s patch. Shooters back a bit? I know it was an XBOX fix, but, you know… stranger things have happened at sea?! Not like FS to sneak an unannounced “feature” in a patch at 8 metres out.
I think the problem is that it’s such a hard change to track that it could just be placebo.
Every time you get a few more shooters it could seem like they changed it back and every time a level throws less it might just appear that they made it easier.
As stated above in the thread it’s hard to tell the difference between pre-buff, buff, and nerf in my opinon.
The guns mostly feel good. The issues with the ranged combat has mostly been on the enemy side. It’s hard to escape just how janky and disruptive the addition of shooters to the general combat mix has been and still is. They basically have not improved on the concept at all since 2019; when archers were added to V2.
