I’ve been really trying to get my hive ganger to level 30 and I hate it. I hate having to play on low difficulties, I hate having to play with idiots, I hate not having good equipment, I hate not having a full toolkit. All of it is just a slog and miserable. I’ve got enough hours in this game that I feel I should have the privilege to bypass it.
I’ll say it every time this comes up: gear score, gear score, gear score.
Quickest and easiest existing way to let vets bypass this stupid system and even gets noobs to engage with crafting/itemization as a side benefit.
Maybe there is a better system with no faults out there, but not likely with less impact to FS I imagine.
Not sure what you mean by gear score. Could you elaborate a little bit?
Weapon and curio ratings.
Long time players have deep coffers, so instantly mastering new weapons is no real concern. Maybe you’re a little selective if your pockets are a less deep.
Use gear score for access to higher difficulties, which should net experienced players faster xp and keep them out of desired difficulty a lot less.
Not perfect, like I said.
But I’d be much less bored and bothered if I could take a fresh cop or scum straight into heresy or damnation and grind my talent points at the highest I can handle (I would attempt auric, but doubt it goes incredibly well) rather than forced walking sim through x amount of each difficulty.
Oh, yeah, that. Unfortunately I made the mistake of trying to mastery grind dual autopistols as soon as I made the character, and sent 1m imperibux down the drain for, like. 10 mastery levels.
Damn, did they change the rate? Maybe I’m just post scarcity and didn’t notice how much it cost, but I mastered power falchion without having used it in a mission to this day.
Rate is the same it just is less cost effective to buy greens and blues from the store at early levels. I also did the same thing lol but whatever I have nothing else to do with dockets.
Well they were probably all rating 0 considering I got them directly from Brunt and I think Quick Level Mastery might’ve bugged out and didn’t bother greening them.
ah, I’ve never used a mod, just the old fashioned way. Can you even sacrifice whites?
You cannot sacrifice whites. Sounds like a bug with the mod where its using your whites without giving xp in return.
As to the OP, its really not that much of a slog. I leveled him up within a few sessions. I wouldnt mind some feature for long term players to bypass the leveling but it doesnt take long. I did most of my leveling on Malice and only moved up to Heresy around level 25ish after I got to the bottom talents which, after the tree rework for HiveScum in the recent patch, should be less of an issue as they have more survivability from the top of the tree.
Oof! That’s what I did to crowbar too. ![]()
Upgrade Taxe, that little guy puts in work and makes Scum grind so much easier with the solid damage, excellent mobility and superb combos. It should be fully mastered from your other characters too. Much safer than grinding with basic shivs.
Definitely gave XP, just a pitiful amount of it, and I’m assuming they were whites judging by the popups (they were only whites, no greens). Dunno what was up with that.
I do have a tacaxe running, but its antiarmor seems inconsistent. Solid weapon otherwise.
In vanilla you cant sacrifice whites so maybe the mod bypasses that?
Yeah, not a fan of repeating that journey myself. There is no value or fun there. It should be a very quick check for Fatshark: existing character levels and play time. Just give those people char lvl boost already. None of us cares about fighting over 2 pox walkers on Malice.
It was fun one mission per difficulty during space cop leveling, only to see how far my personal skill had come from the days of fearing Heresy. If it’s not changed in some way, it will factor in to whether I buy new classes (I actually want to buy) in the future.
Maybe, but I’d have to ask @FatsharkJulia to look into any backend calls I made in the past week to see if it really did process any white sacrifices.
Might be worth it because if it doesnt it might be worth mentioning to the mod maker to remove the feature. I just use vanilla and upgrading 50 items to green can be a pain but its actually easier to do it on controller, I get in to a rhythm of presses like some hypnotic mini-game. I would really love a mass upgrade button though.
First scum leveling was miserable.
Second scum leveling was cool and I even carried 30s as a lv8 in heresy lol.
I like leveling myself. It’s a nice change of pace and kinda refreshing, to get back to your origins, feel helpless again, connect with new players and do stupid things.
But I acknowledge it’s not for everybody and yea, there should be more ways for people to simply skip parts of it for their 3rd+ character.
May be FS could borrow a page or two from Guild Wars 2’s book? Like, when leveling your 2nd character you start to find lv and XP boost items on missions (as resources hidden everywhere) rarely - which are shared on your account and which you can use to speed up the leveling process. And when reaching 30lvs with those extra characters, you would get a commemorative boost package to spend on your next character.
Thus those who want to cut some corners will be able to do that, and others will keep grinding.
Yeah Crushers are a real problem with Taxe, soon as you unlock Needle Pistol it gets much easier but until then good luck.
