Less Ogryn discussions?

Ah, @Mezmorki i thought you had it as optional for something like a ranged-only build. If this is your reasoning, then heed @Geadly !!

If you are using melee on Ogryn there are absolutely no better perks to have imo. Light attack focus is not really a thing on the big man :muscle::grin:

As a side note the most light attacking I do is with the heaviest weapon, mining heads with the Branx!

Yes, thank Emprah (nosh be upon Him), It’s still hilarious beaning a sniper in a pinch, clear across the map and having the booms go off all around.

Having 2 remote “holy crap, help” boxes on top of 2 very good talents always beat the other 2 for me. Rocks are fun but they don’t save games.

I like having versatile, well-rounded loadouts and boxes complete it for me.

This is my base build for pretty much every Ogryn loadout I have. Some variations depends on which weapon I’m using. Indomitable can use Trample modifier if you have a Brutal Momentum melee weapon combined with a Ripper Gun.

Heavy Hitter can also use Unstoppable keystone modifier, but the only weapon I’ve found that to be worth it is with the Karsolas pickaxe.

From experience, Ogryn discussions are pretty insular and the earlier balance of Darktide made it a very ‘us vs them’ situation with Ogryn players and the rest of the community.

I personally consider Ogryn to be the strongest Operative in the game now but it is pretty easy to not play one ‘well’ or not understand what makes them very strong and difficult to kill.

Genuinely it feels like the only threat to me are Trappers when I play on my Ogryn. Feels immersive and I think this could be addressed by adding more interesting enemies.

‘Batter’ (inflict 4 Bleed on heavy hit) is one of the most broken talents in the game. It used to be 6, but 4 is still insanely high value. Mixed on if I should say it needs to be nerfed, but comparing it to a lot of other things on other Operatives, it’s fine as it is.

OGRYN STRONG :muscle:
I personally think that it’s Veteran or Zealot(even tho I main Ogryn). I spoke and played with people who have an insane amount of playtime on every class, and they say that Ogryn is probably the hardest class to solo or clutch, just because he isn’t mobile, and I tend to agree.
(Hardest doesn’t mean he can no do that, just that it’s harder than with Zealot with Stealth and a Knife. Also playing with these people was kinda hard, they were not waiting at all, not even each other, so it’s pure rush and kind of a solo play)

There just isn’t much you can do to help Veteran with plasma and Shout, who runs with stamina curios with a knife.

But, that is the discussion on the question “What makes a good teammate?”
Is it the one who will solo the map? Who deals more damage? Who kills more enemies or specials? Who will increase win/loss ratio? Who doesn’t die and get trapped? Who prevents hardships?
And the problem is that it’s very opinion based discussion, so I will not say that your opinion is false, and I do understand why you think that way.

God please no, I beg you not to give the devs that idea, I will be very sad if they will nerf that, and it’s not even that broken, just a really good bonus to melee damage.

I honestly think that the most broken talent on Ogryn is 20% Toughness on heavy(either one), I literally have no idea what will I do if they will remove that, but if they will remove Batter I still will be able to do some numbers, but less, not sure by how much in percents.

Yeah, this girl kills distracted and confident

that’s correct, ogryns can hack through pretty much everything. the only real problems are those pesky trappers and the occasional dog. just lost a ci-vi game to a net coming through the 6-7 crushers in front of me.

i maintain that we should be able to rip off the head of a trapper and throw it at enemies.

With Ogryn, it seems like the community might be in a comfort zone—perhaps players are finding a solid balance and enjoying the playstyle without feeling the need to nitpick. However, that can lead to a sort of stagnation, which can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it’s great that there are fewer complaints, but on the other, it raises concerns about long-term engagement and class evolution. What if we encouraged players to share their most memorable moments with Ogryn or even brainstorm new abilities or skills they’d like to see? This could reignite conversations and keep the character fresh. Also, exploring how Ogryn’s lore could be expanded might attract more players to dive deeper into discussions.

Eh, my main complaint about Ogryn atm is the boring attack on many Ogryn weapons. Introduction of pick axes really exposed that, as pick axes have have relatively interesting attacks. Too many weapons have really simple attack combos.

Special attack on certain weapons do very little also, I like the utility of the knife punch and pick axe special attacks, and feel rather meh about clubs and the OG shovel special these days. Knife special attack can stagger a crusher out of its overhead, the OG shovel or club, nope.

Lately I’ve replaced Pulverize with Trample and am of the opinion that Dominate is actually a tax node.

Not saying it’s a trap, I just think it’s super limiting.

Meanwhile, Can Opener says bonjour and helped me fall back in love with the cleaver.

FWIW It used to say “Bonjour, take a brief moment and think about the sound of one hand clapping”, it’s a drive-by victim of thread pulling now.

It is kinda ridiculous if you think about club’s special, like why the hell would someone SLAP a man in combat :sob: and not just punch.
Also, I have no idea why this special even exists nowadays, sure you can stun Ragers for the moment but that’s pretty much it.

Oh, and also, why does Ogryn’s specials deal so little damage(~50)? Increasing this to Heavy damage value will not really change much, but will make it fun to combo

The only “fun” aspect of Ogryn mace specials is the “hidden” unique light attack follow-up on Mk II. I’m of position that a lot of weapon specials and push attacks miss a mark in terms of their usefulness, variety and often VFX/animations (heavy swords push attacks…).

Pushing that thought further lot of weapon attacks and their animation on all classes just feel like they barely left the prototyping stage.

To assert dominance on those heretic bitches of course!

Second strongest if you ask me. Zealot’s absurd movement ability alone essentially obsoletes everyone else when its in the right hands.

How have I not come to this realization before!

We stand corrected. I have to say the slap was funny vs monstrosities before the nerfs.
