Figured this out awhile ago, probably should’ve posted it then but you can “parry” Bulwarks.
Didn’t test it with more stuff and I’m not motivated to even open the game rn, so idk everything it works with but it works great and consistently with the mk 4 Chaxe. Title of thread is a joke because I love Dark Souls.
It’s always good to learn new things, but I don’t see why I should ever parry vs. dodge in this case. Dodge is vastly superior to parrying, it allows for heavy attacks as soon as the shield drops.
And in most instances when you encounter a Bulwark, he has 3 Bulwark buddies with him, 4 Maulers and 6 Crushers. I ain’t parrying anything, but rather, I’ll dodge around like a Jedi (Jedis are from 40k lore right? jk!).
The only time I really parry in this game is to push Poxbursters and Poxhounds. As well as when I am trying to avoid monster damage while kiting it, with dodging. Oh and the odd situation where I get stuck inside a horde by circumstances, and I just push+dodge my way out of it.
Only begin the push attack if you see the Bulwark telegraph his attack, and it shouldn’t be a problem. Like in DS, don’t just hold block and spam parry, wait for the attack and strike when the time is right.
This is specifically for mk 4 Chainaxe, as it lets you get a faster shred ttk on the head if you are not running Bloodletter.
Even in that scenario its not something I’m trying to bait out. If I see the bulwark wind up I’ll do it, and its fast enough ttk I don’thave to worry about other enemies. Just another tool in your kit which can be useful. At most I wouldn’t use it more than once or twice a game.
honestly the first actual example of a skill display i’ve see on the forums and everyone here’s going “lol that’s not the meta it’s easier to ”, impressively smooth catch into a weak spot chainax special bro.
