Same here. Looked up Vivox, the service darktide uses for chat. No error reported on the unity services page and it doesnโt seem to have an entry on downdetector but isdown has a few recent user reports about issues the last few hours so it might be an issue on their end.

I thought this was maybe Auric Maelstrom specific for me, but it doesnโt matter what mission I do. The chat will break for me.
The only functional part will be the penance alerts that I have turned on.
Game really needs some way of restarting the chat, or rejoining the strike team channel, because this is getting infuriating. Why is it even breaking in the first place??
Steps to Reproduce (Required):
- Boot up game
1.1 Check if I have a chat window to interact with
1.2 Restart game till success - Queue for a mission
2.2 Write something in chat in Mission Loadout screen or as mission starts
2.3 If successful, next step - Try telling something important later in the mission
- You realise that the chat window is not working for you, and you no longer have any means of communicating with your team beyond tag and social wheel
- Restart game to fix it, as it will stay broken after leaving the mission from either failing or succeeding.

Just throwing in my backup on this, the chatbug is more insidious than ever now, as it shows youโve joined a strike teamโs channel now, but the things you type donโt show up to the others.

Same here. All the dcโs are gone but i now have this issue from the jump as opposed to the past where i had to dc from a game for this issue to pop up.
We have made improvements in this area for 1.5.4, let us know how it works out for you.
Me and my buddies have also been having issues with this since the hotfix went out, I have not been able to yell at my team members for shooting poxbursters while theyโre literally right in front of me for 3 days now and Iโm slowly going insane (jokes)
We play on Xbox primarily and this is what pops up for me when Iโm trying to do the chat box
When you open it, you can type in the chat with an actual keyboard (yes I use a keyboard on Xbox for typing Iโm one of those people) but when youโre just using controller it doesnโt even open a box to type in or nothing, when you use the keyboard and type in something and try to send it just sits there staring at me menacingly, not sure on the cause of it but itโs been happening every time Iโve got on after this hotfix
Update from my previous post: Still having the same issues, Iโve tried hard restarting my Xbox multiple times and so have my buddies who also play on Xbox and Uninstalled + Reinstalled the game a couple times and it still doesnโt allow me to type in chat.
When using controller you donโt get the option to even pull up usual box to type in and nothing really shows up for it.
On keyboard it will let you type in a message, but you are not able to send it or do anything with it.
Figured a reverse bug report may be helpful.
Started having random text/voice chat disconnects in the middle of a game session since somewhere in February of this year. Probably after the patch, when Vivox version got updated, but canโt say for certain. Have not had any such trouble before that since gameโs release.
Timings were ranging from sitting for 3 minutes in character select โ joining morningstar with an already empty nonfunctioning chatbox, to a middle of the first or second map since game launch, where I would notice, that I suddenly canโt read/hear anyone and was sending texts into the void. Or, very rarely, a long session without any troubles at all. Made it a complete nightmare to verify any potential solution or pinpoint what is wrong exactly. Only a game restart would bring chat back.
1.5.4 seems to have finally fixed that problem for me. Chat didnโt die a single time to this day.

For about a year i am unable to hear to voicechat. It came out of nowhere, i resettet all settings, deleted the whole mod folder, used steam to look for errors in the data, reinstalled the game. I probably did everything that i can possible do to fix this but i have no idea what i can do to fix it at this point.
Now the wierdest part, every time (its not always on) but IF i have medal running for clips. I can clearly hear the voicechat.
As i said. i really tryed almost everything this forum is my lat home :))

I had this after unplugging and replugging my monitor with speakers in it, Darktide seems to pick random audio devices for voice chat when new ones are plugged in and wonโt let us choose for some dumb reason.
I had to go into my audio devices and disable the speakers in my monitor and then reboot to get it to behave.
You are hearing it when Medal is recording because the voice chat it still there itโs just not going to a device you can hear from.
Ive had this problem since somewhere in the first half of 2022.
I have played extensivly with and without mods, vpn, and over two different network providers and routers, and there seem to be no difference.
I have reinstalled the game several times aswell.
It consistently fixes itself by simply restarting the game, however, the issue happens litteraly every match and i have to restart the game after every single match to fix it.
The functionality of chat, voice chat, and pings stop working, consistently in a way so i cannot communicate, however i can often recieve communication from the team. I can see their messages and hear them talking or see their pings but cannot respond in anyway.
