Kinetic Flayer randomly triggers from spreading soulblaze dots

Kinetic Flayer seems to have been changed recently. Rather than triggering off direct hits from attacks, it can now trigger off the ticking soulblaze dot.

If a mob dies while affected by soulblaze, the talents Perilous Combustion or Wildfire will spread soulfire stacks to nearby mobs. If one of those mobs is a Pox Burster, the applied dot can randomly trigger a brainburst, making Kinetic Flayer a huge liability as people who move to push the Pox Burster can have it blow up in their face from an applied soulfire stack.

Steps to Reproduce (Required):

Pick Kinetic Flayer, Perilous Combustion, and/or Wildfire talents, and start streaming fire to enemy elite/special npcs, then stop and just wait for the dot to trigger brainburst. Notice that brainburst will occasionally trigger on random elites or special mobs from the soulfire dot alone. This seems to be new behavior I haven’t come across before so I suspect it’s a bug.

Kinetic Flayer could already be a liability against Pox Bursters, but at least it could be controlled in that you could simply NOT attack the pox burster and elect to simply push it. But now that Kinetic Flayer brainburst can trigger off soulfire dot, and the dot can accidentally spread to a Pox Burster, it can blow up in your face at any moment even if you don’t directly attack it.

I don’t understand this sentence. You’re saying it is not a bug that the soulfire dot, even if left alone to just tick along by itself, can trigger Kinetic Flayer brainbursts?

So, all in all, it is intended behavior that the death of an enemy that had one or more stacks of soulfire can spread soulfire stacks to neighboring mobs via Wildfire or Perilous Combustion (that part is intended, yes), and then that neighboring mob that starts burning, can spontaneously trigger a brianburst from Kinetic Flayer, if it is an elite or specialist?

If so that really needs to change in my opinion, because as described in my OP it makes Kinetic Flayer a considerable liability with any psyker build that produces soulfire stacks when there are pox bursters around, even if you never directly attack the pox bursters, as fire unavoidably will spread to them and trigger brainbursts all by itself.

The sustained damage caused by Burning and Soul Fire should already trigger skill effects, but this is a bug that has not been fixed for a long time
