Kinetic Flayer is useless one random brainburst on an enemy you’re attacking makes no difference unless its a boss(where it never triggers) its completely unreliable and shouldnt be a talent
It should be reworked into something else my idea is that upgrade makes brain burst target only elites/disablers/bosses that would make it provide something tangible
Been using it on gunpsyker ever since and it works great. Never need to swap to BB and have it auto apply when attacking an armor pack is great.
It feels like people can’t appreciate a talent that isn’t OP and can trivialize the game for them.
It’s useful on builds that don’t need to swap to the blitz because there’s no chance to get the extra peril in aka columnus5/recon2 Scriers gaze users.
it does nothing to a crusher/bulwark pack a single brainburst unempowered wont help you there its unreliable and half the time its gonna be on cooldown when you need it.
Been using it since we had “feats” as a way to proc on demand bbs with the recon. With the spawn rates being jacked up to monstrous proportions since then flayer isn’t as reliable anymore, but I still take it for style points.
I believe it gives free empowered BBs too if you have an existing count of EP.
You can look at it as the “unreliable BB” it is but there’s two things about it that are amazing.
It costs you nothing to activate. (It’s a free BB!)
It’s free DPS.
I’ve used plenty of builds with this and I’ve enjoyed using it. It’s decent for bursting.
From reading the rest of your messages, you seem unhappy that it doesn’t just win the game for you, more so than you seem concerned about it’s balance.
It does proc often enough and you can get fairly reliable usseage out of it with purgatos, if you see that it’s off it’s cooldown.
This talent is fine for what it does, necessary as a non-necessairy 1-point talent.
I like it a lot on surge staff. Its really good for instagibbing elites/specials and getting perilous combustion going. Very helpful on higher difficulties when it procs and you one shot the target instead of 2 or 3 shotting it. That said my biggest criticism is that it shouldn’t work on fodder enemies. Having it wasted on pox walkers really weakens the talent.
It’s too random and time-gated to be particularly valuable in my experience. Proc’ing randomly on muppet mobs doesn’t help and prevents it from going off on something useful, proc’ing on an enemy that’d be dead on your next hit anyway or midway through a burst you’re already letting off doesn’t help much either, and the 15s cooldown often means you don’t get more than one chance to pop it per engagement anyways. You’ll get more consistent value out of that talent point elsewhere in its current form from my attempts at it.
Maybe it should be changed to only trigger on tag-able enemies.
That probably wouldn’t be a buff that makes it insanely op, but it would certainly make it more useful and more reliable.
yeah if the game didn’t burn it into eternal CD whenever you started doing population control on trash it would be useful. most of the time its up you end up overkilling some poxwalker and it goes back to having no node for 1/4 of a minute. sometimes you do get to fight elites before its on cooldown and it just doesn’t activate, or kills the crusher you just hit with 3 heavy stabs to the face. very low reliability.
