Here is the video in question.
@FatsharkCatfish it would be amazing if the devs could see this and implement the suggestions in it, I think it would allow everyone both the fans and devs to be happy.

Ryken is solid, as usual.
I like that it tries to work with the systems currently in place, but making them less frustrating. The devs obviously want to encourage map and build variety, and discourage hard metas. But I think the way itâs currently implemented really handicaps players at specifically the higher levels.
Not bad. This guy has creative solutions while respecting the Design Intent.
Ah! Thanks for sharing this! I was about to go and see if this was posted anywhere on the forums since this is where it might have the best chance of actually being looked at by the people that need to see it!
Its interesting to watch us all circle the drain on the same set of problems. I like the approach of trying to stay within the horrible ineffable design. Though it is not what fatshark SHOULD do, its at least probably closer to what they MIGHT do.
Deathrun is a good name for difficulty level 6/always hi-stg that all the hardcore players want.
I, personally, have no interest in the âcontentâ proposal of special melk missions with rewards because being rewarded in weapons or mats doesnât interest me much since iâve tried most things already. But players with less runtime than me may find it fun and thatâs a good enough reason to investigate the notion.
Good video as always Ryken.
This is not a win/win at all. The RNG design philosophy of Darktide is the problem. Giving more attempts at the slot machine solves literally nothing. None of the solutions presented in this video are actually solutions. At all.
If FatShark implemented the ideas in this video, the only thing they would be doing is showing everyone that theyâre so hopelessly greedy and inept that they have decided to stick by their RNG despite the game failing massively.
Heeey! Ryken!
Thank you for the content, pal. Keep up the good work! Lots of people will go out of their way to make a topic for your vids.
The most unfortunate thing is that FatShark do not see good ideas when it is given for free by forum members. They simply wonât read them.
They do the same already by purposefully ignoring any post, that contains any critique regarding their hostile RNG systemâŚ
So implementing these suggestions - while not solving the problem - would at least show, they ackknowledged almost nobody likes it ijn itâs current formâŚ
edit:
and @ryken_xiv 's suggestions would actually make the system less hostile. Not friendly - but less hostile. And in his vid he states that actually solving the RNG problem would be preferable but he basically has given up on FS common sense regarding this. But maybe it is an non negotiable condition by their mobile games hardened chinese overlords at tencentâŚ
While increasing material gains is a stupidly simple value edit, and theyâre stupid for not having done it, Iâd rather not have FS spend their glacially slow development time on fixes that arenât fixes. Any time spent on implementing reimbursing for sold items, or a âsecond shotâ at sanctifying etc is time wasted. The system has to go. Itâs really that simple. Any time spent fiddling with it is just trying to put makeup on a dead horse that is completely stinking up the whole game.
Edit: Not that it will matter for much longer, itâs very nearly too late. Almost everyone with interest and skill in this type of game has left, which is painfully obvious when solo quickplaying damnation. Finding a session that only has one complete numpty (and thus playable without being immeasurably frustrating) is becoming more and more difficult. Even High Int Shock Tropper is filled up by people who have no business in 5, let alone 5++.
They wont rework the whole system, so it is better to just make it less hostile. Replacing the system would mean to develop almost everything from ground up. Replacing such things isnt that easy as you think. So yeah, the best we can get is making it less hostile and i even doubt we will get this.
As a customer, itâs not my problem that it isnât easy. This is their third attempt at a crafting system, already. They chose this. They chose to make this system, knowing full well how horrific it is.
Itâs their problem that the game is dying, and theyâre being dragged over the coals in more and more youtube videos and game journo sites. Itâs not my problem. They have to fix it, and any attempt to put makeup on it instead of fixing it, will only make things worse.
They dont have to fix it, that is the pity.
we can mention the problems but nobody can force them to do what we want.
Of course. They can do whatever they want, inlcuding decisions that will drive the company into the ground.
From business perspective itâs already money in bank.
Existing players quit the game. But they already paid, so no loss there. Probably doing them favour in reducing server load.
Damage to reputation. Prospective players like to research on forum, Steam comments, Steam discussions. Bad for existing game sales, but for future games too.
But itâs OK people buy it anyway. Minority of directors/shareholders personally have made their gain. Who cares if who they work for is damaged. It is because it isnât someoneâs specific job to make it a success, then no one will. Not an owner, hire a strong leader who will care and give that person the power to change things, so they have KPI targets and be able to work with other teams to set targets.
Iâve seen it so many times. The mentality of we have made enough money, that they think it outweighs the effort to rectify or improve to get better return in that time, work investment. âEven if we fix/provide more content, we wouldnât get better sales or we have made enoughâ. Short term thinking and not playing long term because they donât want to take risks. They just canât seem to calculate risk very well.
Itâs always âOK this is taking longer than expected, lets delayâ Someone needs to stand up and set deadlines, When, why not, what can we doâŚmore importanly what happens if we take too long.
This may sound common sense or trivial but reputation itself means money comes in so easy.
Cyberpunk, they offered refunds for anyone regardless if game worked or not. Dice took everyoneâs money for Battlefield 2042 and no refunds. Guess who is going to have better reputation and more money in future for giving up millions now. They think long term, not short term goals.
Here is a pro tip for FatShark. Think about what happens if you port current state of PC over to Xbox. Youâre probably thinking right now we cannot price same as a AAA title like 60-70GBP. Weâll price it lower like 40GBP, now ask yourself why.
Sure would be nice if Daniel and Juan actually read their forums. Goddamn people running the show are so apart from the actual game, that they were patting themselves on the back for a job well-done.
Personally, like CommanderJ said, Iâd much rather them actually, you know, fix the friggin game, including the crafting system. But Iâm also aware that they are run by stubborn, arrogant people. So maybe we have to meet them halfway.
Either way, its good the community is still trying to help them, even if they make it so very difficult for us.
Added to the library of threads and youtube videos.
I like a lot of these ideas, and they feel more in line with the RNG madness that fatshark has been favoring while making it less painful.
