It’s funny there is a content creators program. It mentions official collaboration (With who? Them? So they’ll speak to them at least?)
Here is thing they don’t understand about YouTubers in regards to Darktide, they need to have content to create content. Handful of missions OK, can create some tactical awareness videos of map layout and class strategies OK.
Now lets try out different builds. OK you have to grind for weeks to create a weapon build then release video around it. Few weeks later another weapon build. That’s what crafting locks will do to them. Few weeks for one video upload.
They’re not going to create unoptimised builds as content. “Yea this is a T3 and a T2 blessing on this gun, but if I had T4 it would be better” because they want to “show” in actual gameplay how effective it is at it’s peak effectiveness, so people say wow that works well. 10 min video over, after grinding weeks to get that weapon.
I have to agree, while I was watching I kept thinking this is the “low effort” way about things and based on many facets of the game are indeed low effort but it should be fixed right.
And it seems that even incredibly low effort things become herculean tasks when performed by FatShark, so even the simple things in the video would take 3-4 months to implement. And it would be wasted time, because they would have fixed absolutely nothing.
I fully agree with you that my proposed suggestions will not solve Darktide’s problems with RNG - but it was never meant to. The key problem here, as you have mentioned, is their design philosophy in the first place. One can only wonder what transpired in the discussion room about how Darktide’s player progression was going to be structured…
I can only wait for the upcoming comms-link to see what we have to look forward to, but as the loading screen so often says: “Hope is the first step to disappointment.”
Yeah and I understand your points in the video, I’m just unwilling to compromise and do devil’s bargain with FS about this. Plus, from my point of view, aside from your map/mission ideas, it really would all be completely wasted dev time, and not make me any less frustrated with the game. They wouldn’t solve any of my pain points with the system (and, of course, they’re not designed to because you’re sticking to their RNG Design Intent), and for me if they did those things in the video, it would just demonstrate to me even more exactly what kind of people are running FS.
Not in a good way, but I think that was understood
I’ve seen it too but as i’ve argued before this is a GaaS. They didn’t just build this thing to one and done it. They may have made a profit but the scheme was to make a long term money printer. So they do have a business incentive to keep going. They’re probably just afraid to say anything at this point because everything they say gets used against them when they inevitably drop the ball.
They’re probably going for the noman’s sky approach of just quietly working on it until its better. Which is not what they should do but might work. Victory requires no excuse, defeat allows none.
