Just a simple wishlist

A simple and easy topic … put down anything you can think of that would improve the grim dark WH40K feeling, the immersion of the “There is only war” setting or just the general fun of the game… (Regardless if they are hard to implement)… But pls no “fix the game” or “change the crafting” wishes like we know from all the other threads… Thx…

Some examples:

  1. A Killanimation for the charged Chain Axe where u cut small enemy’s beginning from the shoulder diagonally to the belly till the chain axe gets stuck and the player character kicks the shredded body to release the chain axe.

  2. A killanimation for the charged single handed Chainsword where u cut small enemy’s vertically from the head down to the crotch (slow and brutal, let the chain do the bloody work all the way down :smirk: ) in half ending two body halves fall apart

  3. Like 2. But for the charged Force Sword (psyker)… A clean vertical cut… Ending in two body halves falling apart… Let the used warp energy leak out from the body halves

  4. A Killanimation for the charged Thunderhammer/Powermaul/crusher where the hit ends in a massive burst of the body of small enemy types (like the bolter hit)

  5. Let enemies hit by the flamethrower die in agony… I mean they get burned alive… Let us hear the unique sound of purification. I think the zealot would be thrilled :melting_face:

  6. Bring more iconic w40k weapons into the field in future updates (powerfist, melter, plasmapistol, bolt pistol, bolter with mounted chainsword, the sniper bolter variant, for the ogryn the giant crusher hammer wielded by the crusher enemy, etc. )… There a so many (funny) ways to smash and shoot heretics in the name of the emperor :smiling_imp:

  7. Give us more options for the characterization… Especially the option to choose a own colour scheme for the armour (like warframe)… Its annoying to earn or buy a skin with a colour scheme I did not like (even if I like the armour style) … I prefer a all in black armour scheme and not a leopard camouflage scheme, so give me the option to change that… And this way we see some different colorvariations of the same armour skins, not four clones of the same skin … Just make the available colours “grim dark”

The biggest problem I see for these is that chain weapons weakness is already that they stick to enemies which makes you vulnerable. Being stuck in a long animation, while cool, would be either super detrimental or immersion breaking if you’re invincible. I would love to see enemies be able to be cut in half vertically.

I pretty much agree with all your other statements. As for something I’d like to see, is the larger enemies like mutants and Ogryns to have more breakable bodies. Ogryns can only have their heads destroyed, mutants can have their heads and arms destroyed, and both can be cut in half horizontally. I’d love to see them be more destructible, for example killing a Reaper with a charged Thunder Hammer would pulp his top torso etc.

I mostly just want more depictions of 40k stuff that we haven’t seen before, because FS’s art team has done a really good job making stuff that doesn’t have an existing model or much artwork but fits really well into the universe.

Examples would be stuff like the big archive room with bookshelves on chains, the lasgun reflex sight, basically all of Enclave Baross, the big servitor tower that looks like it could be archeotech. There’s a lot of really cool and uniquely 40k art direction in this game that you don’t get in any other depictions of the 40k universe I’m aware of. Kind of disappointing that so much of the levels are generic factory/underhive stuff, hope the art team gets more room for creativity in the future.

Anything specific? I know someone in a different thread mentioned a Death Cultist and I would agree that would be cool, although we do have a modern miniature of one in the Rogue Trader Kill team set.

The Chainsaw eviscerator and mixed melee and pistol weapon sets is on my wishlist.

Yeah ur absolutely right about the chain weapons … “long” animations could cause a problem with the game flow… Haven’t thought about that :neutral_face:

And yeah a short time of invincibility during a animation is not cool for the mmersion… But instead of a short invincibility we could just use the fact that cutting enemies in half have an suppressing like effect on the opponents nearby (like hitting them with the bolter)… So they are shortly “stunned” and didn’t attack the player… Just an idea for an compromise between long animation and not breaking the immersion :face_with_peeking_eye:

Yeah very good point on the breakables bodies of the larger enemies… I absolutely love how the 2-handed Chainsword cuts even a crusher in half when charged… Very satisfying :grin:
Haha pulp the torso after a blow with the thubderhanmer sound very gory! Another good way to kill a big guy could be when the thunderhammer lands a charged killblow the body bursts like the body of the beast of Nurgle in the moment it dies… Leading to an huge corpse with a really big meathole :grin:

Yes, without a doubt, the Art team did a really good job so far… I really love the art style from enclave baross and hab drayko… For me all locations so far have an really good wh40k vibe imo! And the big servitor tower looks dope… It was very impressive to me when I saw it for the first time! I’m really excited what kind of creativity we will see in future updates…

I’d like to walk around different areas of the Mourningstar. Maybe have an actual engineering section where you’d find Hadron for example instead of a kiosk. It looks like some modelling of different areas was done for the sake of the cutscenes, let’s see them up close!

On the character side I would like to see more cosmetics that hint at the local culture on Tertium and the Moebian domain. The Imperium doesn’t really care much about cultural differences as long as you worship the Big E and pay your tithes, so every planet usually has its own idiosyncrasies. The iconic imperial guard regiments are cool (Krieg skin pls, FS) but they had Dan Abnett create this whole setting just for Darktide and FS doesn’t really seem to be doing a whole lot with it.

Seems like the angle they’re going with in the lore for premium cosmetics is that they’re outfits that individual people wore, so you’re basically cosplaying as notable Imperial figures, which is kind of weird and lame imo. Would be cooler if it was something like armored preacher vestments with a lore bit about how Tertium’s laypriests have to dress for battle when they go on mission trips to the underhive or something. Or local PDF soldier armor for vets. Just something to give us more of an idea of what Tertium was like before the Nurgle plague showed up. Learning about what the world was like before it fell apart would make the player feel like they have something to fight for.

Are you sure you’re ready for the Ogryns in pink clothes?

So no way to introduce shiny fancy ogryns in pink leggings… Unless the big boys are maybe abused by some weirdoo slaanesh cultist for a bizarre interracial fluid exchange… Then indeed it would be kind of grim dark… Somehow :sweat_smile:

Yeah good point… I would really appreciate more insight into the mourningstar! And a meet point for the player’s to interact with each other and play cards like in that one trailer from FS… I generally hope they will expand the whole storyline about the “welcome to the inquisition” part revealing more information about interrogator rannick and inquisitor grendyl etc.

The setting is on point… Unfortunately they didn’t deliver a real story, just a kickoff for more, so I hope it’s part of the planned content drops that they continue to expand the whole storyline

The whole mortal kombat fatality stuff works cus it’s a 1v1. It doesn’t really translate well to a horde shooter, who wants to stunlock themselves for any longer than they already do?

Yeah dragonmusic made me aware of the stunlock problematic on a horde shooter in his post… Hadn’t considered that, and yeah it’s kind of a deal breaker! But basically the killanimations for charged weapons like the chain axe and the one handed Chainsword stunlocking the player already , but the animation itself are not really satisfying… I mean at least give us a exhilarating animation for the already existing stunlock … Or FS have to handle a charged kill with the mentioned weapons like the suppressing effect from a bolter round caused by hitting nearby enemies… Then the stunlock isn’t such of a problem…but in the end the whole killanimation wish just a wet dream didn’t come true :sweat_smile:

Number 1 for me is Officio Assassinorum Character maybe from Adamus temple. Give it high damage high mobility weaponry with a lot of specialized gear with good melee, while keeping it soft as a tissue.

Second is your point 6, a lot of 40k weapons, more chain sword variants, plasma pistol, etc.

Necrodermis Phase blades would be really cool, you slice them and they die in place, then fall apart after a few moments because they’re just that sharp.
