Thank you, Fatshark.
Honestly, I had given up hope, and while I’m a bit disappointed that the DS wasn’t nerfed in this update, I think it’s a logical choice to prioritize buffing underperforming weapons first.
There are still other issues, like Gold Toughness and CDR, but if you continue to address balance problems on a regular basis, I’ll be more than happy to pay for the deluxe version of Arbites.
Iv never really got in to the normal axes or the Catachan so this might bring me back round to them. Happy with everything else here so far, will need to see how it feels but Im looking forward to trying some stuff out.
Also looking forward to seeing the DS and PS get well deserved balance passes.
100% agree. I’m not saying my ideas are any good or something they should focus on. Just spitballing what I think could “do it”. I personally like, as mentioned, DS on my Psyker. And I’m sort of reliant on it. While My Vet and Zeal, plays other weapons because they are more enjoyable.
This is what I felt Fatshark did with Eviscerator. It was such a power house, then they… Eviscerated it.. ![]()
And that’s no fun for anyone. Just look what Helldivers 2 community had to deal with.
I don’t even complain about the dueling sword anymore because everything that needs to be said has been said and everyone is parroting the same crap over and over again and it’s starting to seriously tick me off.
YES, it is overpowered. YES, it needs a nerf. Half the threads are “dueling sword/plasma gun is overpowered” when there are other problems in the game to talk about, too.
Most interested in a useable Helbore and the attacks while sprinting. And happy to hear there’s a recognition of the need, and an effort, to more regularly balance things!
I am hoping it means at least once a month, or every other month.
My brother in the emperor, it’s been more than a year since they grabbed some random guy from the street to do their balance and nothing has been okay since then. Do you really trust them? Nerfs keep hitting cooldown reduction talents, yet we still have a 6 flat second reduction one on veteran with the most OP brainded 30 second ult in the game. A modder can change this in 10 minutes, why is it taking years???
Some “professional dev” balance rando decided that it was a good idea to give thrust to the duelling sword, while also giving the weapon to the other non glass canon classes with access to gold toughness (which should not even exist to begin with, brainded mechanic that invalidates the original vision of toughness).
The whole balance went to crap when the combat lead dev left. Does it really take years to tweak a few numbers on weapons and blessings when there are games out there that update monthly, or have open betas to test stuff on the regular? I think Obesefish is just slow and super lazy, and they are clearly working on another game project so Darktide is officially on life support after we get the Arbites DLC.
I’m assuming it will be four times per year, same as the big patches.
Yeaaa probably. And that would be an improvement, but I hope it’s more often too.
Glad to see balance still on the mind…also is this confirmed Arbites weapon list? seems the logical weapons to balance with Arbites launch.
Best offer I can give is some number adjustments once every 3-6 months

Well, I’m the type of person who values actions over words, so my opinion will change further if actual balance adjustments are made.
Fatshark seems to have a tendency to rebuild systems from the ground up rather than just tweaking a few numbers.
This is purely speculation, but if Fatshark sees Gold Toughness or CDR as a problem, it might be because they’re working on major overhauls of invincibility mechanics, Veteran, and the Zealot skill tree.
Some of these mechanics are deeply rooted in the core systems, and they may be concerned about serious bugs or unintended behaviors that could arise from changes, but we don’t know for sure yet.
I’d really appreciate it if they could just let us know whether they actually recognize things like Gold Toughness or CDR as issues.
exactly this. i also like ds on psyker, especially gun psyker, which i play like a warp-powered zealot. i’ve used it on psyker before it became everyone’s darling, and i there were little complaints about the ds as long as it was a psyker only weapon. actually i preferred the force swords. it’s just that fatshark has this history of overdoing buffs and nerfs.
well, the longer you leave things as they are, the more work it is to make them right.
this was still an issue with the old combat lead btw, he did a lot of good work for sure but FS was still just as slow and all over the place with balance.
It’s just a studio thing as opposed to any individual dev
I don’t understand why so hesitant to nerf weapons at this point? there’s nothing “immediate” about a nerf to weapons that have largely dominated the meta since patch 13 came out, only becoming more prevalent when you lifted class restrictions on dueling sword. Ogryn was megabuffed to the point that my respect has turned into pure hate for the class. Psyker still exists, and, with zealot, got a weapon that powercrept out other weapons from the meta.
There’s far too many overpowered talents and weapons that are always chosen for every game mode, not just havoc. The list needs to be much larger than just plasma gun (a weapon on a single class) and dueling sword (a high damage single target weapon). It’s not fun to play auric when bubble smite shows up and just stops the game, or ogryn kills everything, or dueling swords and knives speed through the game. Havoc’s not really an accomplishment when stealth can just solo the mode, or (insert infinite cleave/high stagger weapon/blitz/ability) exists and wipes the screen of all threats. It’s to a point that it just becomes less about precision and skill and maintaining dps, now it’s more about sustaining yourself long enough that DoT and AoE clear the game for you.
In the case of Ogryn, the problem isn’t the weapons, it’s the strength of the class itself.
As I’ve said many times, the recent buffs to Ogryn are clearly over the top, and they need to be toned down, including the bleed
It’s all well and good to play with the damage numbers but it would be nice to know if chain weapons as a whole are being looked into. The rev mechanic and sticky effect make them feel discordant to use especially as combat intensity ramps up, making it more of a liability than a simpler weapon without that much more effectiveness.
There have been some good changes (cancel saw with dodge, chaxe in general) but imo we are not ““there”” yet.
Nerfing DS and Plasma will just be a direct hit to Veteran, gonna tank its pick rate in 40s
If they go through with it Vet’s gonna be the weakest class by far, even below Psyker.
Class balance has been pretty even on the highest difficulty.
Now lobby’s are now prob gonna be:
Flame staff Psyker
Book Zealot with tac axe/knife (only for gold toughness)
2 Ogryns
Making weapons fun rather than balanced is more important imo.
What is this logic even? If nerfing powercreep weapons means class will go to a dumpster then it just means that class needs a rework.
