June Update: Early Balance Look

Yeah, but innate, and 2 charge levels, no partials, and the 2nd release for extra anti-armor vs just power increase.

i really hope this isn’t the case, genuinely arbites should not have the deuling sword or the knife.

Please make the shot guns a bit better than that

I’d say it was just an automated process but the “broker” (whatever that is) archetype has much smaller selection and Arbites doesn’t appear to have a bolter? So who knows…

For real? :face_holding_back_tears:

The issue is equally glaring with the Ogryn’s Bully Club. With Ogryn talent synergies, it becomes even more braindead than the Dueling Sword. You can efficiently solve virtually every problem by mindlessly spamming light attacks.

The core problem lies in the game’s cavernous difficulty gap. Havoc missions operate on an entirely different plane compared to other modes. Sometimes I can solo-clear Auric Maelstrom – yes, in those scenarios weapons like the Dueling Sword, Plasma Gun, and Bully Club feel like overkill.

Yet when I step into Level 40 Havoc, clearing it through legitimate combat (without stealth-cheesing) feels utterly impossible. Even with the Dueling Sword, facing endless waves of Crushers and elites in Havoc never feels ‘easy’ or forgiving.

If we nerf these weapons solely to balance them for Auric Maelstrom and lower difficulties, we’ll inflict catastrophic consequences on Havoc PUGs. It would transform an already punishing endgame experience into pure despair.

As braindead strong (or broken) as that may be, the DS4 is still outclasses it, by a fair amount.
To make it more apparent, test it under more dire circumstances like when you’re alone or two of you left and you’ll see the DS4 outshine it. I’d happily trade a Club 3b and Cleaver 4 for a DS4 if balancing concerns wasn’t a thing.

I appreciate that Fatshark informs us of the changes up front, but it’s hard to provide feedback on how these changes will feel without the ability to test them.

A PTR/Experimental Branch would help us to see if the weapons feel better. :face_holding_back_tears:

that might deconfirm what you’re looking at then cause according to This Article, arbites gets bolter options, plural, suggesting the boltgun

While arbitrators can choose from a bunch of the normal autogun, lasgun, and bolter options, as well as the arbites shotpistol,

just gonna say, you can’t always trust what’s in the code to be indicative of upcoming content, let alone how it will work

there’s a ton of unused assets among other things in the game files

Yeah, all this stuff is subject to change, most of it can be done very quickly and as @Incandescent pointed out it may or may not be in or used.

P.S. Oh and I’d take gaming articles with a grain of salt, for all we know he could have been looking at the bolter pistol and said “bolters”, time will tell. We’re mostly just sptiballin’ here, those with NDAs have more insight, but you know, NDA.

I never understood why the special action doesn’t load a whole mag of the special ammo: slug, dragon breath etc.

In Auric Maelstrom, the distinction between these weapons barely matters – both are brutally overqualified for the job. They turn challenges into trivialities.

As for Havoc? I’ve clutched victories solo with each when all hope seemed lost. But let’s be brutally honest: your odds of pulling it off feel equally bleak regardless of which weapon you’re holding. That’s the grim irony – when failure seems almost predetermined, your choice of blade or club becomes… academic.

Eh..IDK, I still see the DS4 out performing the other 2 by a noticeable amount, YMMV I suppose, I don’t feel like a making a thing about it here.
Agree to slightly disagree I guess.

It’s actually amazing to think that the patch that buffed plasma and duelling sword to what they are today was patch 14, which was in October of 2023. I joked about balance taking a year but we are way past even that. So far all we’ve gotten in that time is more psyker buffs.

They should even invert ranges

Gonna make a thread about shotgun changes.

Main other thing I have to say is that handing out the assualt sprint profile like candy on Halloween certainly is a choice.

What is this? 7 months for a few stat changes? Just let any player do your job at this point please… Buff/nerf the goddamn blessings, that’s where most of the power for weapons comes from. Also add a few new ones, or change existing ones to make them more interesting. You plan to do more frequent balance to “Keep the game fresh” you say? I’ve been stuck with dead blessings on psykers staves for 3 years, with a non-existent special attack while the pistol has a force push. It’s really not that hard to come up with cool stuff.

I honestly can’t comprehend why professional developers do so little and have so few ideas. You only keep making the game easier, to then buff enemies again, to then rework classes and weapons again to match that… The cycle never ends because you guys refuse to do your job, don’t you see??

Rant out, I’m sorry. The sad thing is that I will come back again and again to play no matter what, because your game has everyone hostage with the best melee combat in any game on the market. It makes me so mad, this love-hate relationship…

I personally am not a fan of Nerfing the Dueling sword, other than maybe lowering the crit chance. I use the weapon because I make roleplaying concept characters. I have spent real life money on weapon skins for the dueling sword and if it gets nerfed will the players get there points back in refund?

Now on to the plasma gun yes this weapon needs a small nerf, but I ask do not nerf it as bad as the flame thrower was.. It is a Vet only weapon so it needs to have its teeth still.

Thank you!
