Is there any addition regarding the new update that would get you back playing?

I’d like to see the consistency of run quality improved. Right now it’s a crap shoot that either lands you a walking simulator (even at the highest difficulties) or a complete clownfest.

There’s a lot of things that feed into that, from player balance to director quirks to motivating factors. I think it’s all a bit much to expect in one patch.

I’d be satisfied with a better mission queue system. There’s so few players in my region now, even at peak times, that it literally takes 10-15 minutes just to find a game, let alone a full team. Half the auric mods are a snoozefest or are just blatantly unfun. Give me a QP filter that lets me select the mission/modifiers I want to QP for, and add maelstrom to it.

major copium on my part but im praying fatshark personally steps in and redesigns the godawful premium cosmetics to actually look good instead of looking like insanely cheap cosplays of them.

It really is a shame that the only achievement anyone really cares about is 1 million kills for that rare frame. I hunt achievements, I want to be rewarded for them too!

#1 is fixing the crafting.

With about 600 hours in the game, I have about 60% of all the possible weapons and gear at my disposal. I’ve been tempted to play but just won’t do it until crafting is fixed because I don’t want to spend 10 hours in a week playing just to flush all the progress down the toilet trying to chase some item or build that the RNG demons decided not to hand out. So until something more deterministic comes along for crafting, I’m done with the game.

Once that is fixed, here’s what I think the game needs to keep me playing:

#2 is a revamp of earnable cosmetic/rewards tied to more variable mission objectives/challenges

Fingers crossed this relates to the penance improvements. But basically I want to something like DRG’s seasons where there are some fun modifiers to missions and side objectives to do that feed into getting cool cosmetic rewards. Refresh the system every 3-4 months with a new batch of rewards and twists to the missions. This would keep things fresh.

#3 would be a chaos-waste like or rogue-like game mode

Actually deliver on the promise for procedural map generation and combine it with more varied missions parameters and objectives, feats, challenges, etc. Combine this with some new biomes for visual variety would be great.

I still love playing but I’m getting pretty bored of the same maps so new full length mission maps would be top of my list. A new class and some new weapons would be pretty cool.

Doubling the xp ceiling to 60 could be fun as it would give people a reason to go back to old characters.

Heck, they could copy HD2. A ‘Hive War’ system with decent procedural generation could keep the game alive for theoretically forever, minimal upkeep required.

The problem is proceduraly generated maps will be simplistic and lack of details compare to normal maps so it could be seemed like low quality content.

But yeah, would be nice to have events like scabs attacking metalfab zone and community must defend it so there will be more plasteel on the maps (or maybe even less incase of fail)

I personaly would like DT to shift towards mmoish/live service activities more like you have factions that are interested in specific zones, admechs - metalfab, water guild - torrent, aristocracy - throneside, etc. And so factions could give you some specific rewards be it cosmetics, unique blessings, or anything else.

Also in V1 and V2 each character has their room, don’t know why FS didn’t move forward with that idea - housing. Imagine you start on lower deck room with rats and roaches, but you can progress and in the end will have a nice room with panoramic window/vidscreen you can see Atoma and decorate your room with aquillas, candles, banners, armor/weapon shelfs and stuff.

Honestly I would say 3 big things would be a crafting fix, more content and advancing the story in a meaningful way.

Crafting needs no introduction for why it needs fixed, it’s that thing holding everything else back. I feel like the overall crafting system not only sucks but makes to process of adding new equipment worse since every new equipment added messes up the item pool.

New weapons and enemies are probably priority 2 but fighting 1 for a spot. We really haven’t had anything new since November/ December. The Carnival and the Twins fight was ok but that content was quickly played to death. Lacking new weapons with interesting abilities also didn’t help.

It would also be nice if we had any indication of the story going anywhere beyond a few out of game audio logs and some vox transmissions. Intrigue building only really works if it leads to something and actually pays off.

There are a lot more points that would be nice but imo those are the big 3.

They could assemble a random set of level pieces like they have now and connect them in any number of ways. We have tunnels all over the place. The quality could remain incredibly high.

That’s a cool idea!

The only thing that will make me come back is the addition of solo mode. I’m tired of using the Many More Play mod

A better crafting system is the most important change (also because, without it, new players keep escaping) but… at this point it must be paired with new weapons. And maps. And I would return

Sure, a new class would be even cooler… but I want to be realistic, we’re not going see it soon

Plus I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but: I do NOT want chaos wastes or others parallel game modes. I just want to play regular maps and boss fights how we did until now

What if it was possible to play a randomized mission of the same length as the missions we have now? Is it important that the maps be fixed? There is an arcade-like, and quite enjoyable, aspect to learning the maps, which creates a definite feeling of mastery. I think it’s possible for an RNG mode with sufficiently-large tiles to replicate that feeling, but the “fixed” maps we have now really deliver on it.

I’m super curious about resistance to an RNG-/Chaos Wastes-mode, especially after the massive success of Helldivers 2 and its quite-boring and samey RNG maps!

Crafting overhaul that makes end game actually engaging

Relevant weapons and cosmetics for a actual proper kasrkin larp

Actual solid large content additions, (new mode, enemy faction, weapons that interest me)

All they’ve had to do for the last year and 2 months was remove the locks on perks and blessings and allow people to upgrade the stats on their weapons, even to the arbitrary caps (both individual and total stat caps). That’s all it would take for me to reinstall the game. I’d still have other issues with the game (mission selection system, repetitive maps, no reasonable ability to play solo, to name a few), but the “dealbreaker” would be gone.

I really hope whatever their plans are for the (second) crafting rework is as good (ie: ok/serviceable) or preferably better than that, because I would like to like darktide, but it seems like fatshark vehemently feels otherwise.

Or at least a similar thing for Inquisitorial Stormtroopers… I mean COME ON, where’s the red and black Scions getup and matching Hellgun? We’re literally part of the Inquisitorial Warband by Level 30.

Personally I would be fine with a Chaos Wastey type of mode, although I personally hated not being able to bring your weapons into the mode and having to rely on RNG for weapons (I understand this was a + for some people with more playtime in VT 2, but it was not for me.

Honestly while I don’t hate your suggestion I wish that from the start they had just done the PD 2 style of randomization. Same maps, but there would be different spawn locations, different objectives, and occasionally some really big changes. Not changing the map entirely but enough that every run on the same map “feels” a bit different. The mini bosses already fit into this philosophy, but I wish there were more things like them in the missions.

Crafting is pretty bad but is pretty far from my main concern.

Still playing pretty regularly but I just wanted to share my thoughts on the state of the game.

Crafting does suck and needs a re-work like everyone has consistently been saying since day 1. Honestly, all I think they would need to do is make it less unbearable. There’s nothing worse than grinding credits for two hours on pubs just to blow it all trying to get a decently rated weapon from the armoury. Why have melk if he literally sells nothing of value?

I think that if they made diamantine more useful too, then that would be easier than just doing this massive rework for the entire crafting system (maybe pay X diamantine to unlock any locked blessings or perks?). I know people have other ideas worth exploring.

Also, why do I have to pray to the omnissiah every time I roll a transcendent weapon? Why can’t I just choose between two blessings? FS could make it so you only roll level four blessings if the initial rating of the weapon was 370 or something.

I’m not a simple man but my needs are simple to fulfill:
bug fixes (parkour consistency, skin flaws on characters and weapons, audio)
quality of life improvements (action queuing, evac timer, instant requeing, reque w same team)
More biomes

The environments are priority one because they will never fix enough of the bugs without introducing more.
