I’d love for Tactical Awareness to either trigger off Specialist OR Elite, or get the Bruiser treatment with triggering off Ally Specialist kills. It will take Uptime to confirm, but I can’t imagine it will be nearly as impactful as IoD or Bruiser.
even if they decided to re use it (they did not) it would work differently because you can sequence combo lights and heavies with every weapon in darktide instead of just a handful of vanilla and most DLCs like VT2. the falchion belonged to the boring category. also no special attacks.
Zealot and Psyker also got hit with cooldown nerfs.
They did, but comparing it to Ogryn’s Bruiser:
In Tactical Awareness and Bruiser we have two almost identical abilities, except a decision has been made to make Tactical Awareness significantly worse. On a high shock Auric, specialist and elite counts will be within roughly 50 of each other by the end of the game. Allowing Bruiser to potentially trigger with 3X the frequency (depending on coherency) is substantial.
I think both Zealot and Psyker will trigger Ability Regeneration with even greater frequency than Ogryn. I’ll need to run Uptime for awhile, but I think that Veteran will be in last place with effective Ability Regeneration. Best guess it’s their solution to Shout, but Executioner’s Stance and Infiltrate will be collateral damage.

all cd skills got nuked they clearly want to make ultimate use a choice not a spam
so exe stance can now be permanent has improved outlining regen and higher bonus’s and its keystone can move and shoot freely now , and voc is no longer as spammable and your still sure without even playing it thats its not viable… damn i used to use the old version and think it was good.
The old version also had 70+% damage reduction from ranged and (accidentally) melee. I heard that the new change gives continuous toughness regen while the stance is up.

The rest of what you said doesn’t really make sense or misses the point I was making, you’re straw manning each point I made or just not understanding.
I mean the structural changes are pretty massive on their own. Lots of nice smaller details too, like weapon specialist having +reload speed built in, as well as finally having a mag size increase talent. WS also had the ranged buff duration doubled to 10 seconds, which should make its fire rate and new reload speed buff WAY more practical for bullet hosing with brauto.
Would still have liked access to spread reduction somewhere besides just Exe Stance, as well as some less finesse based stuff for guns in left branch, but I guess buffed WS is finally looking pretty good for non finesse guns so that’s pretty cool.
Also am I imagining things or did Vet lose their second Stam regen delay node? Didn’t spot it in the Reginald overview, I hope that means they’ve made Vet base Stam regen delay better. If I just missed it somebody please correct me. @MarxistDictator I imagine you’d be as sad as I would to lose the ability to build for Psyker Stam delay.
Zealot - melee crit against any target
Psyker - you or ally kill an elite or specialist
Ogryn - you or ally kill an elite
Veteran - you kill a specialist
I just wish that Veteran didn’t get the short end of the stick on trigger conditions for their CDR talent.
“Find the Specialist before the Dogs or the DoTs” minigame is alive and well.
I think there was a 1s to 0.75s base delay baked in to the class.
Just did a couple of Havoc games, feels like massive buffs for the class due to better talent placement and better talent routes. No longer do you have to be either good at melee or good at shooting, 15% melee damage node early and early 10% attack speed make Vet melee better with any builds
Duplicate Krak Grenades also correctly attach to enemies now, when previously the talent that spawned +1 grenade randomly did something to Kraks which made them lose magnetic properites, and more often than not they just dropped on the ground without attaching to anything
Falchion is just a better improved power sword. As strong, but not awful to wield like the originals
Auras still suck though, true, Survivalist is still mandatory and movement speed on aura is yikes
Yeah I only had time for 1 round, but it felt like unchained again, plus not having to micro swapping weapons to raise peril constantly was so good, even if I blew myself up once from not being acclimated yet ![]()
If they wanted to temper VoC use, why not use some of that Ability sub-node CDR control like others got?

Completely agree. FS stated, “To more easily balance the Abilities against each other, we’ve decided to reduce the effectiveness of the general Ability Cooldown Talents while adding cooldown mechanics into the Fury of the Faithful ability as well as the Shroudfield ability.”
Then turned around and hit Infiltrate on Tactical Awareness CDR without baking in any cooldown reduction into Infiltrate. Just an odd double standard.
The changes to the Veteran’s tree look great! I get that these probably aren’t final (same goes for the other classes), but they fix a bunch of issues, give players more freedom to pick the nodes they actually want, and overall it’s a solid starting point to see where things are headed.
The Veteran also got some sweet base stat upgrades:
- Suppression immunity is now built-in
- Stamina regen delay: 1s → 0.75s
- Crit chance: 5% → 10%
Really happy Fatshark took the time to bring all the classes more in line.
Odd you used the plural version here. It’s really just infiltrate that’s affected. It’s virtually impossible to have uptime issues with Exe Stance.
Nothing wrong with the tree, it’s pretty well done. I feel like no matter what they do people will complain.
