Is that it for the vet?

We waited a year for a falcion that glows and 1 new bolter and 1 bolter pistol? Really?
Not impressed.

And the vet skill tree rework again, i get it we need it but at this point just scrap it and start over.
No more shouty and no more stealthy just make the vet into a soldier with 3 different types of soldier “schools”

I seriously doubt there are many veterans who are hyped up about role playing a commisar out there, not everyone was like Cain.

Depending on how they’ve adjusted the keystones Vet may be in a really good place. The tree looks solid at least.

Of course, I understand everything, but it’s truly shameful. Even the weapon activation animations are like a regular power sword, but the mechanics are Zealot. It’s simply shameful, and even though I’m not a veteran, it still pains me to see it.

i met a happy vet once .. lol

they may only have 3 new weapons/variants and changes to a few more this patch but that tree re work looks huge there are some really big boosts in it. exe stance giving 10 tough a sec, they can run and use focus now etc the tag skill now needs half the stack and i think they build faster

they are getting the lions share in the re works from what i saw. of course i havent got hands on yet. psyker especially melee psyker looks like a winner to.

I’m hopeful about the changes, but I don’t expect much to change.

They’ve said on discord the keystones are tweaked. Maybe they’ll even be charitable and buff weak/underused Infiltrate talents and finally gove some toughness regen/damage reduction to Exe Stance, so that VOC isn’t just BIS for the sole reason of covering up for Vet’s weaknesses.

I mean, new bolters is the third best thing for Warhammer ranged weaponry after finally getting a plasma pistol or a melta. It’s one of the most iconic weapons, and unless the new marks are just straight up worse in every way, it’s cool

Though I wish the new bolter was a scoped one…

Exec Stance now regens 10% of your toughness per second

New bolters will be DOA because current bolters with higher damage and firerate need to be perfectly built with nearly perfect stats to hit the important breakpoints, those bolters with weaker damage and firerate and ammo won’t be able to compensate for the loss of raw dps. If you want pure crowd control you will use shredder grenades or psyker lightning or anything else that doesn’t have a very limited ammo pool, not a weapon that will be out of ammo after 2 hordes

Well i for one i’m quite unhappy about the DS5 being murdered like that, for no good reason and just because DS4 exists

id wait to try it before rushing to judgement, i didn’t hear people saying it was murdered

Nice change on Exe Stance, about time.

So new Bolter is just a mark with less damage and ammo, but more AOE splash or something?

I don’t disagree with you, but you could make other bolter mark to be better on weakspot hits, with less recoil and lower firing rate.

you didn’t hear people saying anything about the least played melee weapon that is so obscure only the few mains knows it exist? :+1:

This is why im glad I dont play this game anymore. We waited forever for new vet weapons and we get one new weapon and two variants of existing weapons. Yeah good thing I dont play this game anymore. Yall have fun with your drip fed slop.

If youre shooting hordes with vet weapons youre wasting ammo lol. Who is wasting bolt pistol ammo on hordes? Then again before I stopped playing I saw idiot vets with carapace on their bolters so what do I know.

I actually only play as a Commissar or Catachan. So no.

The Veteran weapons also leave me somewhat cold. The Falchion is easily the strongest of the three since it’s just ‘Relic Blade for Vet” which while nice in of itself, isn’t exactly mind-blowing. The Bolter marks seem like an odd direction, I don’t mind seeing new guns made for chunking hordes but there are plenty of more exciting options for a weapon in that role CoughVolleygunsCoughHeavyStubbersCoughGrenadeLaunchersCough.

The revamped skill tree however is much more exciting to me, especially with how many of the tax nodes were booted out and underwhelming skills were lumped together - Getting rid of that movement penalty in Marksman’s Focus was waaaaay overdue.

One thing I’m curious about is if the base stats for Vet and Zealot have been touched up at all. With Arbites having 100 Toughness and 200 Health as standard I feel like Vet and Zealot should have their respective bonuses amplified to compensate, even more so since the fewer tax nodes will mean less toughness/health for them overall.

Thoughts:

  1. I wish Fatshark had made some attempt to get the creator of the Veteran Guide into the Beta process for the Veteran Tree Rework.
  2. Tactical Awareness needs to become Elite or Specialist.
  3. The forced Operative Modifiers, especially towards the bottom of the tree, look pretty mid compared to Arbites +25 Toughness.
  4. No change to the other 2 auras? Survivalist should not be a mandatory part of the in game ammo requirements.

I wish there was one ranged exlusive weapon for veteran. I still think that stealth veteran should be gone. Auras still bad, except one, though honestly, even if middle aura would give 15% to damage and right one 15% to speed they still would not be good for havoc runs compared to survivalist. At least kraks are now better and smokes tax free.

Eh?

have they updated the skill tree again?

New layouts, new stats.

Vet Talent Tree looks solid actually. Vets that love to go through Ammo like Hunter goes through Crack should be very excited for tomorrow’s update. Fatshark cooked :fire:
