Is that it for the vet?

I am less excited than I should be, it doesn’t look like much really changed other than the tree feeling nicer to build out. The best talents are still the same, and in most cases, in the same spot. Also, survivalist aura being unchanged in a vet “rework” is an absolute meme. Survivalist should be the class passive, potentially not affecting teammates as a tradeoff. There is no world where you are dropping survivalist for those other two auras when attempting to optimize vet to its fullest. Also, Tactical Awareness got nuked, so now vet’s viability compared to chorus and bubble spam is even more in question. Only being activated on specialist kill, that the veteran must kill by themselves, is straight up worse than what the other three get.

The auras were easily one of the biggest pain points of this tree, the fact that they are unchanged proves to me that Veteran’s “rework” was again an afterthought, as it has been since patch 13. They still don’t know what to do with this class, they really were not kidding when they said zealot was their focus this patch lmao.

Exe stance getting toughness regen is a fine change, same with stealth vet’s damage on exit. Neither of these ults are comparable to VoC still, so nothing has changed in terms of ultimates either. Keystones received quality of life, but are still fundamentally the same, weapon specialist remains a more annoying to use version of Arbites’ terminus warrant.

Calling this a rework is dishonest.

Yeah, I wonder what take them months to make Power Sword with copy paste mechanic of Relic Blade.

If they come at the same time it wouldn’t be this dissapointing.

Being able to path to any blitz/aura/keystone is pretty big on its own imo.

Skirmisher also procs on sliding now. Vet is GOATED again, just you wait. 25% damage increase for meeeee all the time

Yeah vet and psyker look pretty gross. Or maybe I was just always a scriers guy (3 years of staff gameplay is enough of that puddle depth) and that stuff makes it near unkillable. did they forget you can get around 7.55 darktide meters/s speed for like 3s after gaining a disrupt destiny stack while it’s up?

Shout out to Arthioo on the design

RIP infinite ranged dodge build tho

I’m so happy they finally gave us a passive quell nullifier ! We can finally edge our way to victory à-la Unchained.

Is reciprocity leaving veterans tree, or shock trooper? Someone link me to it I don’t want to play investigation until fat shark posts notes. It’s already tiresome enough scrolling those.

…I mixed up talent names.

practice gratitude

Okay, that cool, I guess we find out when it is released, if it goes straight it the power creep thread.

Tbh

We were asking for relic blade mechanics for power sword for vet, so they delivered on it.

Still I feel like this was a silly way of doing it why not just overhaul the existing power swords and not just completely invalidate them by adding one that is just going to feel significantly better to use.

Im glad they didnt. I like the way it works especially when they removed the depower on being hit mechanic. Id rather they just buffed the base power hits to 3, then power cycler wouldnt feel necessary to me.

Im looking forward to trying the new one out though.

the default power sword could use some love. the scandar that thing is dumpsterass. in general power swords should just not suck nearly as bad when the power button turns off, and that wet noodle sound when hitting unarmored with it needs to be swapped. 50% damage penalty on infested is just aids.

This is a big reason why I’m so tepid on the Power Falchion. One hopes that the old Power Sword gets some kind of tweaks either along with this patch or not too late down the line so it isn’t completely discarded.

Glad there was a vet voice present. Wish they had gotten Path involved in the rework though. Seems like a bit of a slap in the face with all the time they put into the vet guides.

The veteran still has two exclusive ranged weapons: the plasmagun and helbore lasgun.

I wonder if it has the VT1/2 falchion moveset and animations. Asset reuse isn’t a bad thing in of itself, but 9 months even with re-use doesn’t look good.

Yeah that would be kinda sad.
