I had just assumed, but it releases in like a week and I don’t see one anywhere to preorder? This just keeps getting worse if so.
A disk?
Man, given how many patches darktide has had (some to revert old ones) a disk would be out of date by over a month by the time anyone could get their hands on one.
Also…
Disks? That’s a bit 2010 isn’t it? Does everyone not do digital downloads these days?
I’m sure a large amount of console players love their disks. Theres a reason why you gotta pay extra for the dvd drive.
I was gonna say it doesn’t make sense to distribute disks for an online-only game, but then i thought of Concord…
hard to take away physical copies of media from consumers…
I may have a fully digital library, but there’s valid reasons to want physical media. Darktide maybe not so much since little of import would be housed on said disc… servers go down and it’s just gone.
I assume it’s so people can watch Blu-Ray films using it, rather than buy a player.
I imagine also that Sony releases for their platform are a bit tighter QC’d around launch than, let’s say, “some” other developers.
I’m sure they’d like to play all their ps4 games in their library (ps4 physical sales dwarfed digital sales - it’s not even remotely close…) and ps5 physical games (ps5 digital sales only recently caught up with ps5 physical sales).
Bro, who tf uses or has dvd movies nowadays .
Torrenting was popping in 2006 man.
I don’t think I mentioned dvds.
bluray, dvd, same thing different year
No matter what, if it is a game I enjoy, I prefer to own my games. Not to mention, if I wait, it will always be cheapest way to buy games. Licenses can be taken away and has been.
It can either have it now, or added in the future, offline functionality. No matter what, it’s causes no harm to also offer the game on disk. If they didint even care at all, there are companies that will do it for them and take some off the top. Triple win.
again, this is an online-only title. the only thing you could “own” through a disk is an authentication error screen when they shut down the servers
And someone can break into your house and steal your disks.
Having an offline game licence revoked is less likely than that.
And online games are locked to the key inside the box, and link to an account that can be banned anyway.
Anyway. If you like disks, go for it. But I don’t think license revoking is a thing that happens.
Jeez, as someone who buys everything digital and completely forgot about discs, I must say this is a very legit question from someone who thinks about optional reselling the game in the future.
Though on Xbox the game is included in the GamePass which is required to play this game in any shape or form anyway.
I wonder if it will be available on Playstation Plus.
That’s literally untrue, most people go through their whole lives without getting robbed. What a strange argument. Licenses can and have been revoked, affecting tens of thousands each emand every time. It will also keep happening more and more.
I doubt it.
This can be changed, offline can and has been added retroactively for games servers closing. Yes you can say “Well when Sony dies, it’s gone anyways” and sure, whatever on that.
Just be thankful its not delayed. My recommendation if you are on the fence with PS5, wait until the may event next year, or a discount, unless you read its stable and runs smoothly.
