Is it taboo to use plasma in auric

Sorry if I upset some of you on this forum, but I find it so cringe-worthy when people tryhard in Auric Maelstrom, and I want to be clear that when I say tryhard, I don’t mean playing to the best of your ability, but literally tryhard.

Playing with a tryhard loadout or complaining at people picking “weak loadouts” and discussing strategies at the start of the match.

It’s an instant leave the match for me.

It’s quite cringeworthy, and why are you even tryharding in a game like Darktide, which is meant for short match successions in a casual manner?

With over 2000 hours played, I feel confident enough to assert that the easiest and most pleasant Auric Maelstroms are always with other players who have progressed beyond the tryhard stage and are either RPing in chat or simply chilling.

Screw any false taboos and just play what you want!

Yeah same. my most fun games were with people either larping or stopping in the middle of a mission to type out random B.S./jokes with varying degrees of funniness/talk about their day.

its a game if you hate the lobby find another one

I’m with Wahid on this one, well all except use of words “cringe” and “try-hard”.

Are there any better terms I could use?

My non-native English brain isn’t working well today in the Swedish summer heat, so I took the easiest terms I could think of.

jobber or goober are my preferred insults for those players. sometimes goof, but this is almost a racial slur in the white north where I’m from.

The most laughable thing is that people who complain about 90% of the playerbase being bad and people calling for nerfs to the popular loadouts are actually the very same people.

They hate it when other players are not “pulling their weight” during the mission, but they also want you to play with the weakest/weirdest loadouts so you don’t overshadow them.

I don’t care what builds people use, I don’t need to dominate every single mission to feel good about myself. And I will always try to save my teammates, even if sometimes I might go down myself in the process (I have 30% revive curios on both Ogryn and Veteran for a reason!).

I’m so sick of this elitism in Darktide from people who think this game should be a proving ground of sorts with barely beatable highest difficulty, unless you play with 3 great teammates which is not always the case if you play solo quickplay.

but I don’t even use knives…

That was a tongue in cheek comment, it’s all good Wahid. I’m not a native speaker myself :+1:

I do… but then again, I’m not looking to map my teammates. Nor do I care what their loadout is or experience level.

I just don’t want to play with pricks.

Strawman and triggered much?

The cherry on the contradictory and rambly sundae.
So, what, the game is better off being a 2 player+2 spectator game? Or just button mash and facetank your way to a “win” or get your participation plasteel for flailing and failing; yeah that’s sustainable.

You’re clearly not understanding the bigger picture, probably because you feel targeted I’m guessing.
This

would have been, and can still be, a more common scenario in the ultimate difficulty in DT or any co-op game. Replace “great” with “good” or “prepared for difficulty”.
Why was it more of a thing in VT2? Oh right because not only did the game design encourage it, but the community self-policed too. What changed here…hmm…

I actually would like the option for this.

After getting slapped with the reality that the design intent is basically “no teamplay required” I don’t think the current balance is that wrong anymore, but I do think we need a (new) difficulty for those like me who actually would like to play this game as a cooperative game requiring teamplay (like VT2).

Requiring at least 3 good players to complete the hardest content instead of 1 would be welcome.

I’ve seen a lot of people in this thread claiming “Staffs are OP” “Psykers are OP” yet they aren’t playing a Psyker lol. Trend I have noticed is its mainly Veteran’s complaining about this which is HILARIOUS because Vet’s played properly are by far the most broken class in this game. You have a cooldown that pushes EVERY enemy in the game back while providing instant toughness and an out. I am guessing you also have talents and more to get that cooldown back quicker so you basically are a walking tank with insane firepower and pushback ability yet the Psyker who gets hit 3 times and dies is the overpowered one? Lmaooo

Don’t put words in my mouth, nowhere did I say anything like that. I just said the same type of people have an unhealthy obsession to make everything overly balanced like in multiplayer mobas AND also have a toxic self-righteous attitude, while also using broken things like everyone else.

I wonder how many hours you have in Darktide. There are so many enemies nowadays compared to 1.0 state of the game that in auric maelstorm everyone needs to be at the top of their game. But some people still complain the game is too easy which is ridiculous, especially if you play conditions that stack multiple maelstorm effects and are not just the simplest dogs+mutant waves (maelstorms which are easier than auric shock troop gauntlets).

Or just button mash and facetank your way to a “win”

As if it’s not the case already.

Zealot can literary facetank any death hit every couple of minutes while light attack spamming every enemy in the game. Psyker spams their abilities almost on demand. Vet has a couple of strong builds too. People on the forums been playing a competition game about racking up the most damage on the scoreboard, and not just performing their class role as a part of the team.

You can use anything as you please. If somebody complain about it, they are crying babies.

Not only instant toughness
Extra toughness and not only for you but every teammate around you and can increase damage

Or a cloak that instantly regenerates toughness makes all enemies ignore you allows you to res and do objectives in the middle of a horde completely unopposed and increases your damage and suppresses all enemies around you when you de cloak

Or highlight certain enemies and do extra damage to heads. Ex stance is definitely not the best pick

Psyker is probably the strongest class in the game together with ogryn if you know how to play it, but did actually anyone complain about staves or said psyker is OP on the thread, apart from the general consensus that smite makes the game boring?

And right now we have the ~complete opposite, where the game is balanced around 2 good players, or 1 great one. Got netted/pounced right by your team? Well GG, that’s a wipe.
Nobody has said anything about wanting “overly balanced”, but right now there’s basically no real balance, surely there can be a middle ground? End-game content in a co-op game should provide some semblance of challenge and require even basic co-operation, as well as some basic understanding of game mechanics and your own build and weapons.
Again, right now the bar is so low that you’re stubbing your big toe on it.
edit: “Challenge” shouldn’t come from teammates wasting med crates right next to stations, beating everyone to the ammo and hoovering it all up, blowing up poxbursters on the team etc.

And you’re once again either willfully or purposely ignorant of the facts. Along with the boosted numbers there was a massive power creep in the tree re-work #13 update alone, the game changed a lot in the last ~2 years. The way FS went about balancing stuff is just by throwing more crap at you.
The game is considerably different compared to 1.0 or pre #13, anything prior to the last year (#13) is largely irrelevant. Edit: even just after #13 there were some big changes.

No idea what point you’re trying to make in response to my quote.

P.S. 2500h+ here last time I looked? Assume 1k for the sake of discussion.
