When firing in to a horde to trigger crit effects … is it better to fire two separate one-barrel shots, or fire one double-barreled shot? Assuming each would hit the same number of targets ofc… which is itself a stretch I know as the double barrel shot will obliterate the front row.
As far as I can recall, this is the only gun that offers one vs two shots.
you get crit effects once per shot. the advantage of the double shot is that it does 2.5x normal damage potentially and has more cleave. but because darktide shotgun mechanics if you’re farther than about 5m away it is basically a wasted shot because of how few pellets confirm even on weak enemies. I also don’t think it benefits from the combat shotgun mechanics of M2 increasing the number of pellets that confirm on certain enemy types either. its straight up not going to do anything unless the enemy is very close.
‘decent’ as in ‘compared to the shot that only uses 1 bullet’. I can one shot a flamer with the one I use on Zealot from about 10m, but with M2 I have like no hope of killing them without again being in like 5m. you can definitely try this out if you don’t wanna believe me.
