You are a bit too serious. My take was rather focused on FS doesn’t spend enough for DT
The joy of not having to pay for updates. The quality is almost the same!
Even though winds of magic was absolute dogsht. They at least had to justify the price by adding new enemies and make actual content. The enemy buffing beastmen had unique animations and mechanics, whereas in Darktide you simply add an orange or purple glow.
I hope the people yapping “I’d rather pay nothing for updates and support via MTX” are happy now.
To be honest, I think my computer is around this price…
Price of my computer - Estimation
Mobo MSI - Z890 Wifi gaming plus - 275€
Intel core ultra 265k 450€
RTX 5080 1850€
AIO Corsair 230€
RAM DDR5 250€
Case 270€
Fans (noctua) 8 x 140mm (8 x 20€ = 160€)
Creative soundcard AE-7 200€
NVMe Crucial T700 Gen 5 150€
NVMe WD Black SN850 2Tb 200€
Seasonic Power supply Prime Ultra 1300W 330€
Cable / Accessories / Goodies 100€ (Fan hub, 12V2x6v cable, radiator for nvme, etc.)
Total around 4465 €.
Bought in 4 years… so around 93 € / month
well i thought 40 € was much for a game when darktide came out, but i must have helped them with 10x that spent on cosmetics since (and never bought them in any other game)
anyway, graphics card prices are getting ridiculous, especially with that modest increase in performance for even more power, melting connectors etc
Those are not red, orange and purple! They are lore accurate Citadel coloros Mephiston red, Ryza rust and Genestealer purple! Reeee
Reeeeeeeee!
Prices are high… but it is explained cause of what is needed to build these cards and inflation.
However, melted connectors is the reason why I did not take the RTX 5090. I have doubts about this component, and at this price, I don’t think it is normal. It should never happen or have a chance to happen (at least, it should be very exceptional).
So I took the RTX 5080… and bought a new LG OLED 32’ monitor with 4K resolution (I play in 4k - and I did not take into account my 2 monitors in the computer price…) with the price difference.
hey, got to uphold the german stereotype
all good on my part, looking forward to download the patch … and patch my left thumb thats been infected for a week since the meds shut off my imune system somewhat for the time be.
so i’m literally spilling blood for the emprah hitting that space bar
i very fine rig
and yeah in nowadays price ranges the finer things costs around that.
but then again hobby time cant be measured in €
You can read everything about it yourself, but I’m not in the mood for trolling/rage bait today, so let’s get back to Darktide!
Introducing: Single Player!
Wait, no… Still waiting.
With more maps and more difficulties, Mortis Trials could be something. There just isn’t enough here right now. The player buff novelty wears out almost immediately because the mode is so easy it doesn’t really matter what you choose aside from some of them being funny.
I’d also prefer if enemies got buff modifiers along with the player. Honestly, if I had to pick between only the player getting buffs and only the enemies getting buffed, I’d choose the enemies getting buffed. But it isn’t a binary choice, so we should get both.
Haven’t played in month, will not try this useless mode as I expected actual content like mobs or map to come back:
Can someone tell me if the mode actually reveals more story plot as it claims it does?
If so, what is revealed?
Sincerely,
A bit so far - Zola and Morrow’s pasts.
Unfortunately it’s randomly rolled which is infuriatingly stupid.
But it’s not terrible character work so far.
You get to learn about Zola and morrow and that’s it.
It’s basically a glorified version of “Zola’s journal” except voice acted. There’s nothing particularly interesting if you don’t like those characters, there’s no big grand reveal or set-up for a future event, it’s just character information.
Dear Darktide team, just played through one mission of the new Mortis Trials. PROPER enjoyed it, even more than the train level.
It’s like a Darktide version of the Gears of War Horde mode. Add to that those cool details being recalled where you get to hear various dialogue from memories. A nice touch that is. Another thoughtful touch is having a little terminal to access these new missions near where shop and Hadron’s workbench are instead of going down to where Sefoni resides in her “think tube”
Played the one game with three very good random players and we completed a Lv5 difficult - a good challenge but no where near as bonkers as a Auric Maelstrom. Would be worth adding some Auric level difficulty to it eventually too, and packs of pox hounds.
The added bonuses you can choose every 3 waves are cool AF too, like leaving a trail of fire whilst bull charging
Looking forward to playing more of that mode when my friend’s ready to play, to hear the other bits of dialogue.
Nice one, cheers all of you
One thing they did entirely right is making sure you always get voice-lines you hadn’t heard before, and making you able to listen to them in the right order while in the meatgrinder
This should make expanding the mode to other character’s memories a lot easier.
By the way, is it just me thinking that grendyl doesn’t exist as a person?
I 100% am starting to think that.
Zola goes ‘but Grendyl approved it’ about using convicts as cannon fodder and Rannick, Grendyl’s karking right hand man ostensibly, says that Grendyl can be wrong - something no Interrogator would do. Also makes a point of deflecting from Zola ever meeting Grendyl in person. Gives a ‘I asked ChatGPT and it said it was OK’ vibe versus the poor guy who knows ChatGPT is just an algorithm.
My money is on Grendyl being either dead or a false identity constructed to allow multiple Inquisitorial warbands to do shady stuff.
