Still a bit bummed by how little effect a lot of character creation had. It’s pretty much JUST the personalities and nothing else actually has any effect. When I was picking a planet for my vet, I picked the Agri-world deliberately as it mentioned they were the butt of many jokes in the Domain. I figured people would be making cracks about the “grox-poker” or “hay-seed” or whatever every few minutes. Nothing. Figured my zealot from the Shrineworld would mention how shrines on her homeplanet were so much more extravagant whenever we walk through a shrine on Atoma. Or my psyker from the ocean planet would mention how unsettling it is to see a landscape view with no water in it when we enter the Hourglass. All nothing.
Regardless of whatever we chose for them, they seem to have their own predetermined childhoods, turning-points, and adulthoods or whatever the phases are called. And they just don’t mention home worlds at all except for the Cadian personalities, of course. But they mention it even if you pick a different planet altogether.
I don’t mind them having limited speech options. I know it takes work. I just wish we weren’t presented with the illusion that our choices would have an impact. All it does is set one up for disappointment.
