Introduction: Mortis Trials - Dev Blog

The current system allows for several of the same class in one team, if I have to choose between fleshed out characters and being able to play the class I want I choose being able to play the class I want.

True enough, especially considering there’s no Solo Mode for us to get Penances or level Characters with no such restrictions…

Not rly. This would be a problem only if there are not enough characters. Without that “rejects” theme you could add absolutely anything, be it admech magos, repentia or arbites.

Year two update. New stike team members have arrived meet sister repentia and ratling sniper.

I would rather trade a big part of those banters to have more gameplay content and classes with unique mechanics.

I like banters in Tides, they add soul to the games, but it’s not the reason why i play Tides.

If they gonna add a new class, it will take for them to record 6(!) personalities voicelines that work with the rest of the characters. In the best case scenario we will see only one new class.

More simple system would have allow them to print characters like in a hero shooter and so you will never be locked.

Also, DRG has a feature - checkbox for no doubling classes. If you want to have an immersive expirience you just don’t allow the same classes in your lobby.

I don’t see how that’d fix the problem of not being able to play the one character you want to play. I know folks who play nothing but Ogryn and they’d be livid regardless of how many other classes there were left to choose from. I also know folks from VT2 who wouldn’t play anything other than Kerillian. I also knew one Kruber main and a Saltz main. In fact, I played with all three at once (The Kruber main is also an Ogryn Main and we still game).

They could also do a female-only operator (To compliment the male-only Ogryn), that’d cut down on the voicework by half. Have one of the three personalities take a vow of silence and you’d only have 2. I think there’s a lot of other reasons why they are not going to add another class, but I don’t think the extra voicework is the main one. I mean, have you seen the size of our trees? Not to mention all the cosmetics and weapons you’d need to get them up to par even with Ogryn’s current arsenal.

(They could also do Text-To-Speech for an Admech reject and no one would question it)

Becasue there are also players who don’t main one class. The more classes you have, the higher chance people will switch to something freely. And overall distribution between classes will be wider. Sure there will be players, who play only one class even if there will be 20 unique characters. But if such system is more net-positive overall, then it is what it is, git gut.

Also this

DT tree isn’t that complicated, it’s just FS are unexipirienced. In many cases you don’t rly create a whacky unique builds, you solve a puzzle how to recreate V2 Shade with crit build on zealot. Or just pick nobrainer talents in every build making your path through filler nodes.

Because it’s what they said themselves - they hid subclasses that were planned in that tree and you should find it.

None of these will be recieved well and will be considered as lazy, cause FS created a standart people now expect. The only reason ogryn is male-only cause there is barely any depiction of female ogryns.

Then they decided to issue two new engineer shovels to the veteran. :frowning:

Except if they’d finished the game and developed each class/voice as its own character belonging to a general Archetype, they could still easily have had different characters playing the same Archetype.

This was a self-created problem.

That is true

And they could do a SoB reject, whom are all female, and have been requested multiple times. But I’m not one to argue that notion, talk to @Heretical_Cactus they’re a big supporter of adding a SoB.

I still think that with some more care, clever use of cutscenes, and more “guidance” from GW IP experts, they could have kept a tighter feeling to the actual 40k universe. (for example showing Zola in action, Sefoni use her powers and interfere with the enemy etc)

This campy, jokey nonsense on the Vox feels out of place, and the characters feel poorly designed. They don’t fit the tone of the universe.

Imagine if British marines were causing a ruckus on a British navy vessel. You think the captain would tolerate it?

Now imagine it in the 40k context. This is a Rogue Trader captain. Shes the God Emperor himself, when shes on her vessel.

SoB as a reject doesn’t make sense. SoB can’t be a reject, she would become repentia. Admechs also doesn’t fit reject theme cuase how they handle sinners ripprin out implants and overall they are a separated jurisdiction.

Right zealot branch is death cult assassin we have at home clearly. Because they can’t add a normal DCA in this reject theme.

Middle branch is a typical ministorum priest. And the lefr one is some sort of penitent.

Things could have been much easier without that reject theme, but normal inquisitorial acolytes team.

Also, speaking about cosmetics - more unique cosmetics means more money from mtx.

no doubling classes is certainly an option for a game mode, but it would lose all those players who focus on one class and that one is taken already.

Man, this is just nonsense.

Does no one over there realise this has no context within the lore? People receive training through Dark Age technology. (think the Matrix movie “I know Kung Fu”)

Which makes sense, given that she’s the creator and maintainer of the Mourningstar’s Meat Grinder

I hate this so much.

And as has been said, we don’t need this training, its waaaay too late in the timeline of the game now. The mode sounds trash too.

Throne, its a real shame theres a war going on. Sorry, bit busy.

Everything in this game fits perfectly into the version/vision of the 40k universe in the Eisenhorn, Ravenor, Bequin and Gaunt’s Ghosts novels by Dan Abnett.

Eisenhorn practices combat while in the warp for months at a time. People are irreverent, soldiers defy orders, rogue traders are put upon against their wishes to serve at the behest of the inquisition. Etc. Etc.

Sacrifice must be offered to achieve greatness. More content and more warhammer in the warhammer game > 1,5 unpleasant players.

sacrifice my A.S.S

you could add 100 classes i’d still stick to my ogryn.
none of the others click with me, hate harry potter wand wiggling stickboys that are psykers, vet is meh and zealot doesnt feel great either.

personally rather than jack of all trades i master one.

besides 40k for me is about immersion, if that char “aint me” the game “geht mir am arsch vorbei” :joy:

same nord melee in skyrim for untold playthroughs
6 identical barbs in age of conan

if i got a char i AM that char, period.

freeze frame
Oh ello ello, my pretties… You’re probably wondering who this big scary guy is, innit?

Real question now.

Do you think not having a narrative restriction and being able to add almost anything, be it admech, arbites, hive ganger, aeldari scout or some more exotic xeno mercenary, would be hugely benefiting for DT and players?

Yes. I really don’t get why people are so upset about this.

Tbf I think you’re vastly over estimating how much the average Rogue Trader cares about their crew.

Unless she started actually killing people it’s more of a mild nuisance than anything.

As for the Mortis trials, it sounds interesting enough but I was really hoping there would be a single player with no bots mode. Seems to fit better with both the theme and the style of gameplay.

I am also a bit dissapointed with the “training” aspect of them. Doing an activity with no narrative reason is a bit lame.
