Basically trying to gather info for the various players.
By ‘typically play at’, I mean the difficulty you spend the most time at for ‘normal’ play. If you’re in Auric for achievement hunting or something, and intend to go back to your ‘regular’ difficulty after you get the achievement, pick the option for your ‘regular’ difficulty instead.
Could be worth adding a second question to gauge people’s account level (as shown by the True Level mod) to add another layer of data. Some simple ranges for options would do, like 75-100, 100-200, 200-500, etc etc. It’s shown in the character selection screen:

I flip flop based on who I’m playing with so I just put Auric. I would probably classify myself as just an OK auric player. I’ve played in it with randos worse than me, but I’ve also seen some baller players better than me. 
I typically play what is the hardest content available on the board, be it high int shock or one of the maelstrom ones. Win or lose i personally think this games is at its absolute best when you have those hard games that you barely manage to win.
I do time to time hit heresy and even malice games when some of my newer buddies are playing but definitely a rarity.

I honestly haven’t played much since they dropped the maelstrom/auric missions. But Damnation is what I use as the sample size for testing builds and weapons and so spend a lot of time there. Also if I am trying to complete things vs for an extreme challenge. Friends will greatly change this. Sometimes drop to malice for them, and start to do meme builds… if RNG is with me.

I play damnation to test builds when I am not sure of them or when I want to train with them.
I play auric when I am sure of my build. I don’t play maelstrom cause I use to click quick play. But, I check sometimes if there is a modifier I like (like melee only).
What is sure is that you can see that several builds / weapons are clearly above others.
just to clarify, auric maelstrom exclusively, to the point where i rather skip penances (scriptures/grimoires) cause i won´t step back down again.
only time recent months was a one timer for the new map, at least got a HISTG.
after that it was waiting again for the map to enter the maelstrom pool.

Looking at the results and seeing the overwhelming vast majority choosing Auric difficulties, I suspect this may reveal a lot more about the forum playerbase (who tend to be the most invested and interested in the game) as opposed to the greater general playerbase, as (IIRC) supposedly Malice and Heresy were the most popular overall from what Fatshark had previously observed, and in my experience playing with others across a variety of different gaming groups, that’s been my impression as well. I only play this game when I’ve got pals to play with and will run whatever they want to, so I tend to play almost all difficulty levels, though haven’t played a ton the last few months. Will be interesting to see how it sorts out.

I think we may be pulling from a narrow-ish pool, with most casual players not invested enough to be on social media.
Yes, exactly what my concern was. It’s fascinating to see differences between the two platforms.
I can pull the data on the backend (read: I can ask someone to pull the data on the backend), to see which difficulty is played the most, etc. But it’s fascinating to see how the platforms divide up.
