Also, is it me or, a long time ago, a time that xbox players don’tg know, we had BIG hordes?
I remember my first damnation to test it… at my death I said, ok I see what is damnation… I remember that we had been killed by an huge horde… with crushers etc in middle.
Actually we see waves of enemies… but I never see such massive horde…
Did I dream that?
It’s never been officially confirmed, but many players have said that horde density has been tuned downed for console launch. Personally I remember a team without some sort of horde clear weapon being very slow to finish a level and even struggling at times.
VT2 console has lower horde density but higher elite HP.
One thing that has been removed is poxwalker patrols. You used to be able to find large groups of them just idling.
so true!, roamers would be the correct term, they have been replaced with armored and gunners density though
those were the times when i hated playing with trauma staffers, because they would immediately pop the hordes scattering all the poxwalkers around the room
ye elite spam looked cheesy right after their update, AND they buffed low tech weapons penetration values so that they could cope in that envirorment!
It all makes sense now
well then, we have our answer to all the BS balancing they have been doing lately, there is no coming back if crossplay is the cause of that
the more this notion sinks in the more it gets bitter
on a second thought though the new groaners movement speed buffs must be hellish for console players, i can hardly keep up with my mouse joints, this makes me amused somehow
The poll misses an important caveat: some map events were tweaked which made them more intense, majority of maps and events still feel like snooze fest most of the time.
The what? I haven’t noticed any changes. Groaners are a meme enemy type as it is, the only way they can be a threat is their mass blocks your dodge from actual threats like disablers or elites.
for vet/psyker players like myself the opportunity window you have for shooting is valuable, increasing the melee mob movement speed means you get silenced more often reducing your effectivness
not to mention the dodge waste and recovery that gets put in a heavier strain, leaving you to unfortunate situations more often
In general i do think the difficulty is mostly spot on for most players who play this game, especially for those in “quickplay” match setting. However i still do think the game would benefit from having slightly more spice in those maelstrom missions. Be it trough modifiers or just having some sort of option to tailor your difficulty.
Malestroms in current state vary from resident sleeper to ok i have to try now which i personally hate.
For the last 2 i think its generally easier to just slightly nerf players power instead of massively changing health values for every single enemy whenever we reach a other powercreep point in the game.
That said I’m not a massive fan of just spamming enemies for the sake of it. So in ideal state we would have bit of both.
Access to Auric Maelstroms and Hi shock missions should be accompanied by a specific playtime requirement - could be completing 30-50 missions after level 30, could be having a minimum of 50 wins on Damnation. From my personal experience the only people thinking the game is too difficult are the ones that openly refuse to acknowledge that MAYBE they need to get better.
If you try to tell them any of the above, the following conversation will ensue “you can’t tell me how to play” “I play how I want too” “You can’t tell other people what to do with their time”. Since its very obvious at this point we have a percentage of the playerbase filled with “waahh im bad but you have to deal with me cause I said so” type players, its time to take away their access since they can’t be trusted with it. Let’s not even mention that these are the same players that will leave at the FIRST sign of adversity to “get back in the game quicker”.
This has to be my favorite excuse, as this person who has no business being in the hardest diffs is not only telling the 3 others what to do with their time, but forcing them to as well.
Ive been playing regular damnation games on xbox because I have a high chance of not crashing and some of the things ive observed since patch are a bit absurd. At times you will have 15 ragers run in followed by 10 maulers if we manage to clean them up and alot of times I think to myself “if I wasnt here to throw nades and manage threats as an experienced player these not so good players with little experience with the game would have wiped” and there in lies the problem. Ive been playing damnation for weeks now and there are far too many people in the difficulty who shouldnt be and when you combine that with some of the massive packs of elites and specialist ive seen in missions with no modifiers I know the average damnation squad without someone experienced in it are losing far more games than we did say december january back when more experienced people played damnation. You have to hard carry regular damnation games with no modifiers and those players will wipe when 10 crushers or 15 ragers, or 10 maulers walk into the room simultaneously and that happens more often than you think since the difficulty changes. I wont even dare touch hi intensity or hi shock unless its auric because the quality of teammate in damnation is so poor. I remember one of my first damnation games we had atleast 15 ragers run up the stairs and as soon as we killed them 10 maulers ran up the stairs. I was thinking what on earth is this this is regular damnation. I feel like the massive packs of enemies you can see standing around waiting to be aggroed are a bit insane. I cant tell you how many times in the past few weeks ive looked out a window or around a corner and said omg there are 20 shotgunners or 8 crushers and 9 maulers or some absurd pack of enemies. I had one game on silo cluster where we had like 5 reapers on the ground and 4 reapers up on a platform and i was like wow this is regular damnation lol. I could be totally wrong in my assessments but thats just what ive noticed since the patch.
Really all it takes is one mistake to lose a run. My sound broke the other day and a dog i didnt know was near jumped me and i died. Right as my team reached me a trapper spawned in and my teammate who surprisingly enough had the 500k/1 mill portrait turned his back to said trapper to revive me and got trapped next to me. That left two teammates on the field and there were now two trappers on the map and we quickly snowballed to a loss after that. That one mistake my teammate made not killing the trapper and turning his back to it as it dropped down cost us the run. I said why on earth would you turn your back to a spawn drop down you clearly hear a trapper about to jump down to revive me when you couldve easily killed the trapper first and he also never pinged either trapper when down. It really only takes one mistake but thats part of the reason why I hate needing rescued cuz alot of the mistakes people make are just total rookie mistakes. Couldnt believe people with 500k/1 million kills would make such noob mistakes.
They reduced the requirement for that portrait to 250k so that might have something to do with it. I haven’t done a regular damnation run in forever but 15 ragers sounds like too much or an exaggeration - on Auric Maelstrom and Hi shock the biggest rager/gunner group I have ever seen would be about 10-15, and you are saying you are dealing with those numbers on regular damnation? Maybe they broke the spawns when they buffed the difficulty and made the spawns on heresy/damnation way too much.
I will agree the difference between regular malice and heresy is stark but the problem with the difficulties outside of auric and maelstrom is too many of those players are not learning how to play the game at all in lower difficulties and instantly jumping up to damnation and getting destroyed constantly. From what ive observed people are gitting level 30 in difficulty 2 and instantly jumping to damnation. They are not playing hi shock or shock troop or vent purge malice or heresy in any capacity before going to damnation. Alot of the people I see playing damnation would be just as bad in a regular malice game and dont even get me started on missions with modifiers. These people are not playing malice or heresy at all whatsoever and they are either wearing wounds cuz they suck and dont realize health and toughness is the better option or they are so fresh from hitting 30 that theyre wearing wounds because they just left hitting 30 in uprising and ran to damnation as fast as they possibly can. From my experience playing damnation since all the crashes damnation is basically malice with how bad the quality of teammates is and there is no chance in hell the average damnation player can get through a hi shock mission with those same randoms because im playing with people wearing two and 3 wounds every game that go down atleast 7-10 times a run and sometimes they go down that much in low intensity games. The real problem is people are not taking the time in lower difficulties to play every modifier and slowly move up the difficulties one by one like I did. These players are running to damnation so they can get more resources and money which is also quite ironic considering half of them dont even know how to craft but thats an entirely different issue when it comes to the resource bottleneck and darktide not really telling you anything and id assume alot of people are playing darktide blind which i obviously cant fault. I cant tell you how many people i see putting crit damage or stamina or something other than 25 flak or 25 maniac or 25 unyielding or anything useful on gear. I dint particularly understand the point of running to damnation as fast as you possibly can to get hard carried every game when you dont even know how to build whatsoever just seems kind of redundant to me. If youre going to do that atleast go watch a few build guides or do something to atleast know what youre spending all these precious resources on. I constantly see people in tier V difficulty running some trash base 320 legendary weapon with zero redeeming qualities that i know they wasted every last bit of resources they had upgrading but yet there getting carried through damnation games and dont even know what to do with the resources or money they get at the end of it all. I will agree there is a ton of info regarding this game that one needs to take in in order to craft properly , or know what youre looking for in the shop and so many other things and I dont fault them for going in blind but when you add the difficulty spike ontop of all of those other things you get the mess that damnation is now. I was astounded at just how much of a mess damnation was when i went back down and it still baffles me everyday that youre basically playing with a buncha people that should truly be in malice but here they are in tier V difficulty. My biggest thing is just how many people refuse to play lower difficulties and would rather go down 12X a game scraping and clawing through regular damnstion games just to get a few more resources and id assume performing that bad cant be fun but I dont guess they really care cuz they keep queing up for them.
