Imagine if we got another mark/variant of the plasma gun that fires explosive bolts, similar to how we got a high explosive variation/mark for bolters

instead of firing a concentrated piercing bolt, it fires a large explosive bolt that causes self damage when fired too close, and when fully charged at high heat it fires a more powerful bolt that’s close to the pre-buffed hive ganger rocket launcher, so best to be used at range and can only fire normal 3-4 shots before needing to cooldown or 1-2 charged shots or it will explode from overheating.

Yeah, they added a new mark of bolter and bolt pistol not too long ago - lower dps and mag capacities but with an aoe.

Rather than straight explosion, which doesn’t really match to how Plasma act in lore, I’d rather see it have a slagged AoE, basically creating a rounded cone going away from the shooter.

Those could use the smallest buff, tbh. Less ammo for lower killing potential seems kinda mean, lol

On the new bolt pistol you can at least build it to hit the most important breakpoints (with the help of puncture ofc), and on vet you can make the new bolter hit the important ones too - the new bolter’s rof is a little low for all the other penalties it has.

i agree on this one, Plasma is melting not really Explosive in common sense. It depends on Scale of course, when you add lets say Titan sized Plasma, there tends to be kinda AoE to a degree that melts whole Units in an instant due to 2k+ at the very least for a Cutter(IRL) and up to Millions in Heat obviously. I think it was kinda like a Force Field that holds together the Plasma “Slug”. There are some Years old YT Video about that which are intersting to watch. Breakdowns of Imperium Weaponrny of “Real Life” Versions would function and if they are even possible

well the marauder project is a real life plasma weapon that uses radiation and fires a powerful ring shaped projectile that explodes on impact, the only reason they gave up on the project because firing the damn thing causes extreme radiation poisoning.

like imho they need to have higher base damage since they have lower base fire rate.

also true as well the high explosive bolter needs a slight damage buff or fire rate buff.

I would not say no. I just think it has an unrealized niche due to having 2 too many downsides over the OG mk when it should have been 1

well since the high explosive bolters have lower fire rate, having slightly increased damage over base variant would seem pretty fair imho.

yeap you can go to your weapon inspect tab on the bolters and you can swap weapon marks to the high explosive variant which are bonkers.
