I really hope we get a explosive variant of the Plasma gun, not just for vet, but maybe for a tech priest class as well if we get one

like if we get a tech priest class with heavy augmentations, make it where plasma guns don’t do self damage when manually cooling, or deal much less splash damage for the potential explosive variant.

outside of that it would be utterly bonkers to have a explosive variant of the plasma gun that has higher heat generation, 25% higher base damage, and no longer pierces targets as well having less precision damage, but compensates with powerful explosive bolts, which causes self damage when fired too close, and you can only fire 1-2 fully charged shots like a discount bfg, and 4-5 uncharged shots before needing to manually cool down.

and to make the og plasma gun feel in line with the explosive variant, just reduce the heat generation by 15% and reduce the reload time by 30%, making it more fluid to fire and use with less needing to manually cool down to keep it going.

The OG’s cleave will need to be seriously toned down for the AoE explosive one to be a viable contender against it. I’d rather see rather than relying on cleave, a plasma gun’s impact instead causes a cone-shaped AoE, like a shaped charge or something similar.

I personally wouldn’t even hope for weapons for new classes unless they decide to let other classes use them. It’s infuriating how much more value these DLC classes could bring if they could just follow the VT2 precedent and let at least some of the new weapons be used by other classes that makes sense.

the og plasma gun is like a melta gun able to pierce multiple targets and deal heavy precision damage, the explosive variant is meant to offer more crowd control and base damage at the cost of being risky to use up close and higher heat generation.

yeah it would be nice to be honest but strangely this is due to either FS having trouble balancing the weapons of the other classes OR due to GW breathing down their necks and wont let the other classes use the new class based weapons.

I don’t disagree with you, but man I’d love for GW to try to explain to me why my Vet taking two autopistols out of his inventory and holding one in each hand would be heretical.

agreed it would be so peak to dual wield, unless its for balance reasons to not give the vet too much strength outside of hive ganger.

I think it’s the same situation as the Flamer, needing/wanting to have more class differentiation through exclusive weapons.
