Let me play what I want, when I want with the modifiers I want. F your retention bullsht Martin.
Balance the game.
Add more weapons that aren’t medieval and more 40k typical.
I want to pick both mission selection, ogryn, havoc mode(ranged overtune, enemy health overtune, toughness nerf overtune, silly defensive blitzes needs to be cycled overtune), cosmetics, and rolling steel, all at the same time.
Cosmetics system cause this is the biggest flaw in the game (and also cause Havoc is not for me, and I guess that it is for a tiny part of the game population).
Tbh some of those I consider ‘necessary’ evils, in the sense that they’re not good, but I can understand why they’re like that:
Mission Selection: Server cost/architecture most likely
Cosmetics: As long as they remain cosmetic only, and FOMO sadly work…
On the other hand there are couple of things that I would peg as Major Rework à la Unlocked and Loaded, or the Tree Update:
Bot Rework (+Solo):
Introducing some manner to control how the Bots are, and while picking your other character seem like a no brainer, it would have some issues where you could try to start Solo without having any other character.
Secondary mission:
Both introducing new ones, and reworking the rewards of it.
Melk rework:
Since Unlocked and Loaded, I don’t really see his use anymore.
For the Ogryn, while I consider most of the tree needing some rebalance and smaller rework; Ogryn is the only one I would go with a whole revamp of it.
The rest of things that I would want are more new updates than reworks
They should be able to do both after such a long time.
It’s been 2 years full of reworks, if i would pull something like this i would already have been fired.
That said; A new class should have been here a year ago, Ogryn Needs buffs ( how much worktime does it really need ? ) Blessings shouldnt be to much work and this year should further be focussed on a Chaos Waste variant and changes to the current mission modifiers.
The only thing that eats dev time would be the new class and chaos waste, but if i could gues considering how little has been released a new class is already beeing in the works and almost done.
Balanced talents, like all equally useful talents regardless of where they are on the tree, operative nodes standardized, and abilities, etc. having equal amount of modifiers.
Business wise i agree. If they want more money they should focus on that next thing. Personally i never buy any microtransactions, like ever, in any game. But the cosmetics is what’s going to increase this game’s lifespan. So it’d be best to keep this thing healthy.
I dont actually have any idea what’s wrong with the cosmetics system but people keep complaining about it so there must be something wrong.
Personally what i’d enjoy and want to be reworked is the mission board.
I believe it can be done with the party finder feature. And I also believe that they have plans for it. You cannot, still, select regular missions. In the filter screen of the party finder you can see that there is also regular missions. But you cannot select any difficulty yet.
I believe that they will introduce something here. However, I hope it would be something with free choices… I just hope it would not be just to find a party to play ongoing missions. Here it would be a monumental waste a time.
I think also that they must have worked on this. And now that they have made ports for every platform (except the wii), they surely will be able to focus on the game itself.
In my opinion, this does not need a rework. Several buffs and nerfs would be sufficient. All metrics are here to see what needs such changes.
Recolors, prices a little too high, lack of possibilities to customize your outfit, no access to all what is sold
I really would like a system where we can recolor / retexture cosmetics. I am ready to pay for textures / cosmetics, models and accessories (that we could add or remove… let me remove those candles!)
About this, they must finish the solo mode (as there’s part of this in the code, it means they had started to work on it). Must allow private games to a single player (solves the problem of private penances). About bots, they should be as efficient as they are in VT2, and we should be able to pick our own characters as bot.
If I could dream, I would say that it would be great to see them using their ult sometimes and being able to deal damages, but must say that I would feel that as a lost time.
In fact, I prefer solo mode and private games opened to a single player than seeing them trying to fix bots.
The talent trees. Give the default passives to certain classes back, like the ammo aura for vet (because the other 2 options are horrendously bad even after the ammo aura was nerfed).
Also instead of new classes, add more or new talent trees/branches.
Another thing we need to be fixed, not really reworked, is the sound.
Yesterday on the new map, I forgot like 6 reapers jumped over the fence near the end of the mid mission event. One second there were no enemies there, I turned around for like 5 seconds because there’s gunners everywhere, out of nowhere I’m just getting destroyed from behind. No sound, but like 4 reapers appeared behind me and started opening fire on my ass. Normally you’d hear them raise their chaingun or they’ll go “arrghhh” or something, no sound at all.
Yeah, I should’ve remembered that the reapers spawned there since I played the mission before, but with all the other stuff going on, some sound to let me know four 2000-pound ogryns with massive chainguns jumped over an 8 foot fence would’ve been nice.
I want them to travel back in time and un-release havoc, fix mission selection, download that build on a USB stick, travel even further back in time and release the game that finished state from the stick.
Hmmm… there’s a lot ofc but if I had a choice in it I’d prolly rework two things at first (I’ll try to keep this brief for once):
Character Customization
I’d like for them to really push for that customization. There’s so much potential here I feel is unused. I realize most of this is wishful thinking but still.
More regular facial options
Way more hairstyles, especially long hair, and not just punk or bald
For the various clipping issues around specific headgear, just use a few basic updos each and call it a day
Body types (just a few presets like skinny, average, stocky, large)
Extra comms wheel options like “group up!”, “help!”, “fall back”, “you need healing” (some ppl seriously need to hear this), “sorry!” (thanks @Ralendil, can’t believe I forgot we don’t even have that x.x)
In-mission emotes, nobody does anything in Mourningstar so why focus only there?
Combine with comms wheel & tagging, for stuff like “(points) enemies!”, “(waves) over here!”, “(bows/nods) thank you” etc
Let us pick ours from a list of idle & other animations, basic facial expressions, voice line groups (ie. aggressive, shy, calm, kind, “officer”, funny, crazy etc)
Once all the above were in, we’d be able to choose our lobby & dropship stances, favourite voice lines & gestures used in communication and so on to really customize the personality & feel of our character.
Oggies
I feel like the main thing oggies lack is that feeling of overwhelming strength. To that end:
New blitz: Overpower(remove / rework the current ones to keep the 3 total)
No charges & very low CD, a few seconds max
After a small wind-up the oggy does a powerful tackle / punch sending everything in front of it (small cone) flying with some dmg
No effect on bosses, cleaves enough to open 2-3 bulwarks or knock down 2-3 crushers, and basically any amount of anything else
Just like blitzes feel like a part of the psyker identity and are always available, the vaunted oggy strength should feel like a part of theirs.
New passive: Uncontainable Strength
Whenever an oggy is caught by a dog, trapper or mutie, they can tap their ult to tear themselves free with raw strength
Only usable when ult is off CD, puts the ult to a 30s CD (to put all ults including ranged on same level)
Add / rework talents for some light attacks
Heavy attacks should still be the main emphasis, as is the oggy identity
But even a few light-attack boosters would add a lot of options and build diversity what with their light-attack focused weapons
Agree about this. Not my own priority, but something I would love.
Indeed. More haircuts also. If we can have the system that exists everywhere (choose every part of your face freely) at least they can give us more faces and more haircuts.
