Idea: Wounds usage

Here an idea for wounds to make them more apealling and maybe buff poor ogryns.

Give us the possibility to trade a full wound to free from hound or net as long as we have more than one wound of health.

For any other class? Hell no
For ogryns? that would make alot of sense, should be a talent. Its still ridiculous that a giant ogryn is being absolutely mauled by a hound.
Its like a normal sized human getting decimated by a tiny chihuahua. Now i know those things can be very vicious spawns of satan but cmon…
Its physically impossible to be pinned by something that is lighter then your single arm.

Disagree with the net though. Would make things too easy for ogryns and the talent would become a must-pick.

We’ve reached a new high record! (AFAIK)

Also the implication that Ogryn is weak somehow is ridiculous.

disablers need to disable, period.

the one incident when practicality overtakes immersion is the base rock paper scissors balance inside the combat flow.

would an ogryn break a dogs neck, sure.
should bad gameplay/misplay go unpunished?
absolutely not.

dogs are necessary, even in solo mod.

you want an out-of-dog free card?
listen for a flamer or poxburster, ogryn has plenty health, both get dog off.

hear a dog around a corner or behind a mixed horde?
got a nade? well expensive but efficient.
so is rumbler preemptive shot, but much cheaper.

4 options for oggy to beat dog other than directly hitting or parrying it :man_shrugging:

besides the jump scare leaps where you pray for the action economy of things like knife dogs are so unbelievably nerfed its stupid. I know EXPEDITIONS but I don’t even bother killing the packmaster’s armored dogs when kiting him around the map chipping at him. they’re actually a lot slower when moving and jumping so you can evade their attacks without even dodging most of the time. so I leave an armored puppy alive to keep him from calling more dogs. And trapper without havoc adjustments to stagger is such a joke, basically only able to accomplish anything if it can stumble up to you with a bulwark or crusher body blocking it until it can fire a net from safety. And mutie may as well not even be there, unless he stops you on a blight puddle or in fire. Disablers need buffs, not nerfs…

as good as an idea as this is, it’s still a co-op thing, the dog is a disabler and if you get disabled it requires a team mate to get them off.

now with that said, Hive scum and even Arbites both have talents (and your own dog to knock them off if you have it) that would save you in this moment why not ogryn

personally I think none or all should have this ability

Fatshark will give Ogryn 99% Damage Resistance before they give him dodge linger time.

dodge linger is only for melee, until they give a value above 0 for ranged for any character. not sure why people think that affects ogryn avoiding nets or dogs…those are not melee attacks. ogryn can outright thwart so many melee opportunities from enemies he can live with less dodge dancing.

lol

Honestly, I think that this should also be reapplied to the Arbites, but not in the sense of his dog being unable to save him from enemy dogs, but rather as his dog being possibly disabled by other dogs (depending on who got the jump on the other).

my ogryn wound feedback is that i want a talent with -1 wound, +15% hp on ogryn. i’d even take just the -1 wound

Make it dodge distance, general slow transitions between actions with weapons, or whatever, Ogryn feels like driving a truck at times. And no, I’m not asking for Ogryn to be able to ignore disablers.

ogryn has this too, pained outburst FNP keystone

knocks hounds off

I want more disablers in the game honestly, and I want the current ones to be more dangerous.

Making one class immune to fundamental mechanics will not end well. So no.

and that’s literally the only thing that capstone is good for since the nerf…

they’ve made this so much better for ogryn though, at launch absolutely you were just big and that was a drawback with zero upsides. now we have the dodge-knockover, damage resistance and you can cancel basically every action into shoves thanks to them finally unfudging that horrid unresponsiveness out of his melees. now we just need them to fix the ones that combo reset when sliding and we’re cooking.

I agree that Ogryn shouldn’t get anything outside of FNP to get rid of dogs but OP didn’t say it needed to be free

Please don’t argue in bad faith

Counter suggestion:

Equipping a wounds curio outside of martyrdom Zealot deletes your save file.

trading an unused wound to avoid a match ending event is “free” in my book, as are multiple preemptive gameplay measures.

if those tools dont do the job, the player failed and should learn from that mistake rather than trying to bend the game to “his ideas”.

(most of my solo mod failings are due to dogs quick pouncing through a mixed horde 70% and 25% a net going through map objects by the way, so i subject myself to these match enders as results of my personal misplays as well, no exception.
difference is, i see this weakness and work with everything in my skills to do better next time instead of asking for a chance)

rules for all upon which to compare us to.

i dont use any “faith”, i state my opinion, neither do i care to mince words or if its per perceived “rude”.

the very least i offer everyone the courtesy of an honest opinion, the basis of a forums discussion.
someone dislikes this opinion, id be shocked if everyone saw eye to eye with me in the first place.
at this point in time the world would consist solely out of nietzsches ĂĽbermensch  so beware

animation department should to second servings and have poxhounds(plural) tear the arbi dog apart, sending it on a 120sec cooldown as tradeoff to occupy them and punishment upon failing to shoot em off in time.

arbites itself should have his dog-off thing removed completely as in “rules for thee but not for me” :+1:

yep with the big man if you encounter a situation where you need a “third wound” despite all the health he has, something went pretty wrong in the first place.

people should learn to trust NOT to go down and use the active resources rather than rely on the passive ones

Sure, I’m just rumbling about the state of Ogryn balance, especially in context on Havoc experiences. Ogryn keeps following a trend where its “underpowered” due to its “hidden” basic stats, to overpowered, and back again. We went from bully club light attack spam immortality, to DR based “immortality”, I do appreciate you still die as an Ogryn, especially to shooter spam and / or disablers (mainly because Fatshark cannot do audio).
