I Wish the Game Encouraged People to Merge Strike Teams More Often

The easiest and most effective way to make people party up is by flipping the Merge Party function. You click the button to opt out instead of in.

Reworking the “End of Game” screen by including buttons to add players to your Steam/Social list would also help. Right now adding someone you played with in a past game is quite the hassle.

The in game friends list lacks a simple notification function too. Adding people via there is hardly ever achieving anything. Adding them on steam, where they do get a notification, usually ends up in a new player on my FL.

Do you struggle with the concept of percentages, but you are right, it isn’t 90%, its more approx. 92.59%.

Spidey Sense stays on until Fatshark decides to address the engine audio issues.
Healthbars comes useful on the “shooting range” with Creature Spawner mod, as those mobs don’t get a healthbar as the pre-spawn mobs do.

Might be, people might however feel that it then becomes something “forced” upon them. The social aspect in this game is lacking, there are no easy way to use ingame UI to add friends nor send messages to them and you have no real social areas where you get the opportunity to be social with other players outside of missions.

This would be a good idea and would shortcut the navigation you have to do afterwards to find the player in question you’d like to add.

Ehhhh i’m VERY inconsistent i dont want someone to play a game with me where i clutch in one game and barrel myself in the next id rather keep the mystique of random games each queue up.
also quickplaying each game raises your chances of hopping in on a match where someone left where you are more needed(as well as raising your plasteel per minute rate)

No one cares if you are inconsistent my guy, its called being human. We aren’t perfect creatures, why would you care if you clutch one game and then go down the next? RNG and luck exist lol. I have had amazing games then I get destroyed the next game. You don’t want to merge teams because you’re worried someone will judge you for clutching and then going down? Stop letting your worth be determined by how others view you and your life will be much more enjoyable.

All of that was sacrificed on the altar of having a fancy but completely sterile and non-interactive ‘hub’ where you can see people in skins and thus feel tempted to buy skins.

the problem is the setting doesn’t fit imo.

we’re karking rejects, why the hell are we allowed on the command deck of the seemingly most important ship in the fleet?!

story wise there isn’t even a lead up to it, yes there is the whole “trust” system, but what are we even doing there to begin with?

We should be hanging around garbage barracks on the flight deck or in a bar.

I’m not sure where honestly, but it just doesn’t feel organic, especially if there are fears of traitors being on board. I think that the problem is that in a universe filled with paranoia and contempt the finally of the story being “we shoot the traitor, we trust you now” feels hollow. We should, rannick shouldn’t be trusting anyone.

Rannick’s not the brightest bulb of the bunch so it’s not out of the blue for him to act irrationally.

But yeah the hub isn’t designed well for social interaction or a narrative feel, the best thing I can say about it is that its cool to look out the windows.

You gotta wonder how often Grendyl nearly has an aneurysm trying to deal with a crew constantly at each others’ throats. These immature clowns really are the best he’s got for light years.

I understand where you’re coming from and wouldn’t mind more encouragement to group. It’s always felt really awkward to attempt a merge for a number of reasons.

  • No pre-planning with a group in a lobby. 60 seconds to assess builds, talk, and plan. This is assuming you don’t join late or hot drop.
  • You don’t get put into the same Mourningstar after completing a mission unless you’re on the same server.
  • The missions cycle so you’re not guaranteed a 2nd shot at whatever mission you just failed on.
  • A limited block list.
  • Not wanting to merge because we were too good and there’s no way to adjust difficulty up on-demand.
  • No personalized banter between player personalities on the Mourningstar.
  • Nothing to do and nowhere to hang out in the Mourningstar.

I play a lot and the only folks I group with are those I met through Twitch (and rarely do I 4-stack). To me, it feels like the game is purposefully designed to fill seats and get the blood pumping. I do like that but when it’s only that, the experience can eventually ring hollow. I’m also not the average player though and acknowledge that playing any game for too long will fundamentally change your perception of it :stuck_out_tongue:

This would be fun, Running to the hanger and hoping in seat to start the mission.

Also weapon testing together. love the ideas!

Yes, even the slight feature of seeing what team comp you are joining to hopefully join with a build that synergizes. Synergy in Darktide is like oil and water.

ahh the joy of expectations, I agree. Dusting off the last game with a fresh squad is usually more appealing, its very rare I join up with another player in darktide.

Its the added pressure of expectation is how I took it. Its easier to play with a new pug.

Yup I agree here , the design decisions with lobby clash with the story elements. We are given a lot of free rope in a universe where everything is questioned, even down to our levelling process with us being a traitor yet we can go around and hit every red button in sight, let alone speak to adeptus mechanics (hadron). But we dont want to confuse new players , or new to 40k so its fine.. just dissapointing to me.

Yea him and KX are very suspicious to me.. KX telling mission directors he forgot orders… a machine cultist forgetting something is very suspicious to me… KX also has a mission where he talks about subversion and makes jokes to himself that he is subverting plans he started, hints of double agents, he is telling us during missions about how he will go to great lengths for knowledge… heresy is say!

if they made the hub reflect the kind of disposable garbage we actually are, the people that play cadian supervet would never stop whining about it. we’d probably have better loading times though.

Good. (=

sometimes you have pugs where everything just flows, the team moves together without any commands and eliminates every threat so fast that one can only say “smooth ride”, peak pug gameplay.

and then the next game you suddenly have 3 people only by chance in the same map, zealot runs ahead, psyker looks for stuff behind and ogryn always blocks your view, and you wonder how that darktide experience can be so different.

oof this is not an mmo if it would be there would be a guild system. you cant force players into socialising

If it put the merged strike team into a special condensed room containing all the utilities of the Mourningstar but with dramatically faster load times and shorter pathing I think people would make a habit of using the feature. Hell, they could even throw Hallowette in there as the wardrobe manager (cosmetic shop) if they wanted to.

I agree as well

sadly in darktide in order to merge a strike team, I believe all four players must agree to merge a team for what I recall, correct me If I’m wrong.

a fix I’d like to be implemented, is that if 2/4 people agree to create a strike team, even if the votation fails, those 2 people that voted “yes”, will be put together as strike team duo.

And yes the mourning star does indeed feel anti social. Maybe a mini game about cards, like it was shown in a teaser/trailer, would be cool in the mourning star to revive a bit.

But sadly not sure if it will be possible to achieve the same levels of VT1 and VT2 hub.
those were actually magical design, cause coexisting with really nice dialogues and lore between each charismatic 5 heroes.

as you may know, so many dialogues between characters in vt2 while being in the hub, it’s really nice.

meanwhile in darktide, there is no dialogues between other operatives inside the mourning star. (only those, repetitive npcs dialogues through the radio or the npc merchants)
I think they should add some dialogues inside MS between archetypes/voice type.

i remember even before day one of the release, that everyone was very worried of mourning star being like this, and they were right.

In addition, It is also not nice not being able to talk with Rannick or other npcs.

It would be nice at least to see them again.
I know that Rannick actually it’s visible at the top in a certain place, same as other npcs but I’d like another approach with that. something that makes mourning star more alive, rather than scripted.

Incorrect, anyone who votes to merge strike team will be formed into a new party, even if the other players don’t.

I TOTALLY agree about idle mourningstar chatter between players. That on its own would make the game feel so much more alive.

oh, I see, thank you for correcting me. I was unsure about it.

and yes, would be cool some chatter interaction with dialogues, within certain range of players.
