Hands down the grind is only bearable if you play T5 exclusively, because only then can you guarantee purples and orange drops, as well as high resource loot, and at that, generally, most people will go for the boxes. If you’re proactive, you should be able to get some your team misses, because teams usually do miss a lot of boxes, but that’s really not an issue, at all.
If you play mostly t5, and you should, you should be able to get a fair amount of already upgraded gear you can substract blessings from. Another protip is to get the armory extension so you can check out if there’s anything worthwhile in the store without loading up the game. I know it’s a dumb system, but it’s what we got right now.
Lastly, you have to be patient. The game is built around a live service model, and thank the Emperor that there aren’t any other lootbox mechanics involved. It’s just simple, play matches, get gear and loot, repeat. You should proggressively acquire what you’re looking for, even if, yes, it is restrictive and unnecessary, and it’s dumb that one blessing/trait is locked when you mess with the other, but by the time you start re-blessing, you should have a good idea of what stats you want on your weapon so that you aren’t ruining a good roll for no reason.
I’m gonna play devil’s advocate for now that the whole system is not that bad if you play patiently. For the most part, just enjoy the game as is, because it is what it is.
The developers know the game can stand on its own mostly on the merit of its gameplay mechanics, audio and visual design. At least I can speak for myself.
