like, before 2030?
Like red weapons from VT2 ?
What for. Reds were basically a worse system than the current one here. The only thing that make it palatable is that there aren’t that many weapon blessings in VT2
Don’t all reds in VT2 have unique skins? That’d be reason enough to add them as a pretty straight conversion from VT2.
But I’m hopeful the Weapon Customization mod will essentially become the (deterministic) “red” system.
Yes, but mastery has a skin too.

Why not? The underlying systems are all there. They could make money selling skins for individual pieces. Power doesn’t have to be tied to visuals.
purely cosmetic would be pointless, and red increasing stats would make balance worse.
Well, to be fair, Reds didn’t increase the base stats (which in VT2 was just Power ↔ Damage iirc), just pushed the weapon to the max rating.
It’s just blessing being boosted, but with the locked update… I don’t see the need for it

yet i find something about a little diorama quite soothing.
same goes for certain skins, within limits of course (looking at you ogryn leopard pants), which i think does space marine 2 with its cosmetics and freedom of choice better.
so hunting for a specific weapon skin would give me something to look forward to.
not go out of my way much mind you, there’s some penances i wouldn’t do for the world if that meant playing a loadout that completely goes against my style.
but in the vein of “kill 1mio heretics”, getting there through gameplay in time, or destroy x computer panels in hab dreyko etc. sure why not.
didn’t gw oppose it because those modded contraptions wouldn’t be lore accurate?
whatever, fatshark could just integrate the custom weapons mod into the base game, but i don’t see them doing this… indeed before 2030.
it’s just weird that one still has to camp the shop or roll dice for a base weapon with the optimal stats. feels like they kept the random weapon base with the U&U update because it was the quicker solution.
guess what
I don’t recall seeing that, but would love a source if ya have one handy. The way weapons are set up in the backend seems pretty over-engineered if it’s just for cosmetic creation…I wonder when GW stepped in with that restriction.
I don’t want that for Darktide.
(EDIT: perfect drawing).
