Well, I usually lose very little to no health until a trapper gets me by shooting her net through a horde and then I lose all my 300 health in 2 seconds.
So it’s likely toughness will serve me better.

All I’m saying is, toughness has several dmg multipliers depending on enemy type, so it’s not a 1-1 conversion to HP.
Your HP - toughness ratio solely depends on what you got comfortable with tbh. I’ve met excellent players going full HP as well as full toughness.
I aim to get 120ish toughness and dump the rest into HP. But it really comes down to preference, since you already tailored your playstyle around it.
Yes I’m aware about the multipliers and agree with all of that. My main point was to make sure OP doesn’t just take health curios as gospel and tries both to see what fits them best.
Edit: I realise now when you said 300% toughness damage you just meant a multiplier, I thought you meant they do 3x your max toughness do apologies for adding to confusion by reading poorly there.
On the side note, having more HP on zealot means you have more room to play at 50% hp for max dmg.
Why even play zealot if one tries to play it full HP
I mean their weapons, their stamina stats, their Ult, their nades, CTW Brauto, >>>> TWBS the god feat <<<<. Heaps of reasons without intentionally reducing your margin for error by trying to play around Martyrdom IMO. But respect to anyone who does so successfully, that’s a rare sight with PUG Zealots.
Honestly, it’s rather easy with the axes, as they all but guaruntee full heal on proccing martyrdom.
Yeah HR vs TWBS is largely a playstyle thing. They’re both god feats and both playstyles seem pretty competitive.
I don’t remember the last time I saw a zealot deliberately running low HP to preserve their buffs. It’s way too much of a liability in the top difficulties.
It really is not, you don’t have to be low hp just 55%, which still leaves me with 150HP
You do you I guess. Every time I’ve seen it in the past, the zealot eventually goes down to something stupid because they had no health buffer.
Its an intesting idea. I could probably pull this off. But i dunno that 24% damage is that worthwhile unless i’m running hammer. Likewise Honour the Martyr is like
…4% extra damage over rising conviction if i did my quick maffs right. So not worth that.
I don’t think they’re advocating for honour thy martyr (honestly who would?), just utilising your default passive, which isn’t something I’d personally play around but if you’re already running HR and you don’t have surplus heals you may as well give heals to relatively healthy team mates and keep your damage bonus here and there.
The main problem with toughness it’s useless vs all specials mostly, there are so much fire on auric and stg, that being with HP exposed is a normal thing. Not even saying sound engine can’t handle waves of poxbursters that can surprise you
That’s not a hammer, that’s a spoon! chain-axe
You know who’s not crunching toughness numbers?
Hp curio guy
Update: ran a few more Damnation missions. Starting to get it, but still dying a lot. Sometimes due to the game deciding that no you didn’t hit this target but still mostly due to stupidity.
I JUST started getting around to playing around with Hammer on my Zealot. Playing both reg & auric damnation.
I do find the horde clear to be pretty poor, heavy swings with thrust and slaughterer do help, but I definitely have to rely on my team mates a lot for that. If I see an Ogryn with BB or vet with Powersword I go hang out with them, lol
I find being able to just delete bosses, mutants and other inconvenient monstrosities to be absolutely valuable. I’d say most of the team wipes I encounter nowadays is when a boss pops up when we’re dealing with a bunch of gunners & other garbage already, and we don’t have high boss kill potential. Being able to be that guy I find makes up for the mediocre/poor crowd control.
