Yea, the only Overpower thing from the Staff is the Infinite cleave, so the more enemies you can hit, the more OP it will get. When there’s so little enemies, the staff is kinda suck
that’s exactly why i didn’t think wildfire is a worthy pick.
I’m just impressed that the flamethrower staff does actually get to kill crushers in 30 secs too. It would be totally fine if the staff couldn’t kill crushers
Can you test 1 zealot versus 100 crushers against 1 psyker inferno staff shriek and uncanny dueling sword versus 150 crushers and tell us the time difference between the two.
After some extensive testing I concluded wildire adds at the absolute most up to about 5% extra dps under the most ideal conditions, but typically considerably below even 1%.
What wildfire does well however is keep burn stacks on enemies for much, much longer once you stop continously flaming. It was particularly noticeable in the psykhanium with kinetic flayer when I just flamed all the specials with and without wildfire.
With wildfire the burn stacks seem to continue basically indefinitely, and yet without wildfire the stacks drop off to 0 much more quickly before a kinetic flayer proc can spread another round of perilous combustion. Overall I don’t think it’s worth it in practice exception maybe if you spend a ton of time kiting and running without stopping to refresh shacks too much. It also quickly becomes even more useless if kinetic flayer procs don’t result in elite/special kills so you also get more stacks from PC.
it makes more stuff blue at once which is the most important part of a soulblaze build
Unless it doesn’t do a notable extra damage due to this talent present (and it doesn’t seem this way), it’s not really that important. For all other applications, like toughness regen, getting keystone stacks etc there is a certain threshold after which it’s just already enough. And this talent point could be used elsewhere with more gains.
Don’t forget you’re also spreading Soulblaze via Perilous Combustion and that Uncanny Strikes affects Soulblaze, so Pskyer also has the potential of killing groups of Crushers faster than most other class.
Oh, if only I were capable of killing 150, or even 100, Crushers solo

“I just fkkin shot myself”-the thread?
yessir
Wildfire does next to nothing with inferno, grab warp ghost instead.
P.S.: Marg beat me to it.
It just melts everything really. Any half decent psyker with a flame staff will usually top the dmg chart by a large margin. Its less about individual enemy dmg then the extreme cleave, plus no ammo so you can just blast endlessly, plus the great stagger so your rarely ever in danger.
If my group of friends and/or associates I play with are having a bad day and having trouble clearing a Havoc 30+ mission, eventually one of them will get frustrated enough and say, “hold on, let me swap to my flame psyker” and then they’ll immediately clear the mission.
Straight up, it’s just OP as hell. As many others have said, for a long long time, it needs rebalanced. With the way psyser works I do not think you can really get rid of the no ammo/endless flame on without messing the class up. So I would think if they adjusted the dmg ticks, pulled back that near infinite cleave, and perhaps shift how well it works on heavy elites (crusher, bulwark, mauler) then it will stop being a “answer to every problem" weapon. Which is its core issue.
Just my 2 cents
The most important part here is to remember it’s just one build of Psyker that is a problem (well, may be also the infinite smiter as well) - and the rest are rather well balanced already. Whatever will be changed must only affect the builds using Inferno Staff. Soulblaze DoT in particular is used in many other builds too, and it’s not broken in them.
Man I don’t know - recently duoed a havoc 30 because two randos left. On an assault psyker… This class has too many tools to shred everything around. Lightning staff is strong as well although a bit more finicky. To continue: forceblast is similar braindead as purga, scriers with any non purga staff shreds everything aside crushers…
Edit: if you ask me the fix for soulblaze would be to cap the max stacks. Nothing should allow you to get more than x(probably 16?) stacks.
Think it mostly just needs to be affected by hitmass. It doesn’t really make a lot of sense for flames to just penetrate an infinite amount of targets. Similar with voidblast. They could be AoE focused weapons while still not trivializing mass with proper tuning
