Yeah, me too. Then people figured out how to cook with em and it was all over.
I think that came from leveling the class on initial release, it felt pretty brutal to play until level ~25 or so, once you got to full 30 it was very powerful, but felt particularly rough from the teens through early 20s (much like real life
). They’ve since swapped some talents so the leveling experience isn’t quite so intense, but I think that’s where most of the complaints came from.
like day one I got to level 24 and could search auric I had the most insane clutch literally mashing through hordes of ragers, gunners and maulers trying to save my team on that trenches map. just M1’ing through everything with nearing +150% melee power and hyper critical. that was where I decided the shivs were unbelievably busted ‘even outside havoc’ like they’re totally nuts. I was also killing DHs after being thrown into a couple by accident and then ending up totally fine because precog is up the entire time you fight that thing and you can’t get hit stunned lmao it has no chance.
How does fatshark decision making even work ? like ok sure remove the downside of using an extremely powerful ability to make it more accessible meanwhile at the same time refuse to remove the dumb zealot TH self stun ![]()
I’m somewhat above average at best, judging from scoreboards numbers I see regularly. I could in theory carry a team in Heresy (previously we did Heresy runs with another pal who started 3 months ago, but going strong and it were rather easy runs) - but not Damnation no. If some modifiers are involved, it’s already way to taxing on my aging reflexes. With one another dude like me on the team - sure, it’s almost guaranteed win. But not alone.
That seems about correct, I can believe 1 in 4 fails, sometimes serious crap start happening in there which leaves even me surprised (like during one of the event missions where we had to fight 7 or so bosses, including Twins; in Damnation, yes). And many people who play Damnation are former Heresy players, trying new difficulty level, so they are not prepared at all, the gap is wide.
But not Hesey no, I can’t imagine what could be there that would cause a full wipe, there are simply not enough dangerous stuff to kill, and people have so much one-hit blitzes these days unless they are seriously underleveled they’ll just kill everything stronger than chaff off-CD.
Dunno, really. I had two pals who tried the game lately. One of them is playing zealot now - and is doing really well. He may not have deep knowledges yet, but in 3 months he developed into reliable teammate we do Auric missions with, even Maelstroms sometimes. The other one though didn’t do that well and dropped the game in the end. The difference between them - the 1st liked the game, spend some fair time learning abilities and talents, core mechanics, understood the build he copied from gameslanern; and the other one wasn’t interested that much, and the moment he encountered first challenges gave up.
So, it’s not really about some hidden talent or good genes, more like are you into it and ready to invest some time - or not. And the question is how justified is to change balance for the whole game to accomodate people who are not even that interested in the first place? Don’t we have whole system of difficulty levels for that exact reason? If they can’t handle Damnation, they can go to Heresy and have fun there.
Weird how they have to buff a dlc class, instead of tone it down after people have stopped buying it.
This is actually and literally statistically wrong. It provides hive scum with the highest all target anti-everything damage output of any melee option in the game. Its definitely stronger than stim crate and likely stronger than desperado though that has a bunch of fundamentally broken concepts that allow it to ignore whole gameplay mechanics even though its pure damage output is lower.
I entertained this for a while as well. The class has been insanely strong since day one, which is what I originally said it was. “glass cannon” held up well it turns out.
Let’s not pretend this is to do with anything other than to drive sales of the DLC. Some people will pay for power in games.
I think Hanlon’s razor is best applied to FS. Aside from the MTX shop there does seem to be a genuine want to balance the game and not just maximize sales, I just have no idea if we’re actually playing the same game or not.
If hanlon’s applies then I suppose you agree they are imbalanced. Totally cool if we disagree though.
edit: I suspect (copium) they will get reigned in after they’ve achieved max sales.
Vet has a higher skill floor than scum
Statistically according to what?
It’s not stronger than stimm crate lmao.
Stimm crate is the strongest Havoc ultimate that gives immunity to gas bombs from Rodin Karnak and cleanses existing corruption from classes who desperately need both wounds not to instantly die, provides offensive and defensive buffs to the entire team, and also nukes hordes off the screen with gas bomb node, WHICH CAN ALSO INSTANTLY RELOAD THE CRATE IF YOU HIT A LOT OF ENEMIES. I don’t know how often you play with pubs nowadays, but in Havoc public lobbies it’s the most used ultimate BY FAR, having way over 50% usage rate by Hive Scums I encounter. And unlike some of people here who only play Havoc in 3-4 stack, 90% of Havoc 40 games I play are solo endeavor with randoms.
Desperado gives you immunity against half the enemies in the game (which is especially valuable in Havoc, since you can’t freely push Gunners and Reapers there) and gives you insane mobility, on top of supporting one of the strongest (and, admittedly, most toxic) playstyles in auric that has only one weakness – Crushers, but then again, most of things in the game are bad against Crushers, so as long as you have shivs or blitz, it’s not that big of a problem.
There’s a reason why they buffed Rampage, I personally didn’t think it needed buffs and yes I personally played Rampage with Bonesaw in Havoc, but if you compare Rampage to Desperado and Stimm Crate, Rampage doesn’t give you anything special that you might need to make your build shine.
In Havoc Rampage buffs fall off with increased enemy breakpoints, and weapons like Crowbar still suck at horde clear with full Rampage buffs, in auric it’s just way too much melee damage that you might not even need, because you’re not going to fight 5 Crushers, 5 Bulwarks and 5 Ragers at the same time in melee, since they won’t let you finish off Crowbar/Bonesaw heavy attacks anyway, most people just use blitz at this point or backpedal and shoot those massive enemy groups.
Since Hive Scum is still squishy IF he gets hit, the other two ultimates let you do your thing from the safety, while Rampage forces you into a risky playstyle that might not pay off. That’s clearly why they buffed it.
I didn’t like that’s the only active ability with an actual cost / risk / punishment. Considering you have no control when Rampage ends, this left you in situations you couldn’t win, such as a pox burster(s) / hounds which required pushing. Should Rampage power bonuses be lower? Probably. Is it a good idea for Channelled Aggression to be a static 25% rending buff? Well if you consider Rampage has maybe a 15-18 second long downtime, that might be too much.
if only Mr E’s videos were worth watching… ![]()
see, this is why I despise havoc as a mode.
“strength” is something very individual that shows itself apart from other participants.
judging the “strength” of stim crate cause it enables fellow rejects to do better, for me, isn’t a strength of the character but a mere support buff so others do the work for me.
rampage on auric maelstrom?
“sayonara guys im off to wipe the third next room, you wanna come along?”
it’s not a fake tool to skip ahead and drop aggro on your group, its doing the groups work in one fell swoop and then some, leaving the rest bored and twiddling their thumbs.
same would go for desperado but at least rampage has to put in a lot more physical effort by dodging and flicking through the enemies melee.
so in a sense this “strength” in an individual I respect far more than having an endless ammo shooting gallery or support drug supplier that adds to a bubble or book.
would have been nice to keep at least one option that way, so when it does pay off it shows who mastered his playstyle instead of “button goes brrrt”
there’s a difference between “not understanding” and not giving a
though. all today’s forced politeness does is hide the later under the guise of the former to not “appear rude”
back in the day no one gave a
if the majority was struggling at “hard content” they were meant to fail or else the content wasn’t “hard”
nowadays its “oh think of the casuals”, they get a bad experience.
guess what, mike tyson wasnt having a good experience training to get world champion either, guys back then just put in the works no matter the pain.
well, soft times breed soft people ![]()
I mean there’s always been casuals but they were(are) the milhouse of gaming.
don’t be a milhouse

well lost all credibility after his ogryn take “full health build useless after heresy”
I mean rando-havoc 40 one can argue about packing a toughness curio against gunners but “hard” settings and heresy+?
cmon….
