So I can probably assume that I’m not alone in saying that the shop RNG sucks. It wastes time and even if your weapon is there it can be worse than what you have already. On my zealot I visit Melk everyday for an eviscerator and he spits on me everytime having 3 axes and a curio in shop. I have thought of a way that makes sense in lore and keeps us playing the game without it being an RNG hellhole.
So for lore, I have heard that a tech priest alone doesn’t make weapons but a manufactorum does. So at max level we could be able to go to Hadron and see if she can get us a weapon through her network. With this being 40k many rich people do this already, but since we’re barely a step up from a servitor and us not having wealth it’s going to cost favors.
And here we go into the gameplay. We choose the weapon we want and it’s base attributes. Maybe we want damage and ammo most, everything else is meh. Maybe cleave and finesse, something where we have agency over our weapon choice. Then the perks/blessings, maybe a pool of 3-4 that could be on the weapon if not choosing the exact ones. I’m hoping it would only take 5-10 missions to earn her favors for hopefully a master crafted if not purple weapon. Yeah we could just give her raw minerals, resources, dockets, but maybe have it be straight missions or things in missions if fat shark still doesn’t want to give us things easy. Test a new hacking skull of hers, try out this new fuel cell for medicae, testing out new ammo (more of it but less damage or vice versa), last twice as long at evac so she can do X, stuff like that. Also has to be t3 or up, make it so we have to play harder difficulties and not Speedrun t1, that push to challenge ourselves.
At the end of it you get your weapon. No grinding for two weeks because contract tokens are a pain, no waiting at the shop for 6 hours. Playing the game to get something you want, that’s not behind a timewall or leaving it up to the bastard RNGesus or grinding for unknown amounts of things that blow up in our faces. Just something to do at max level without the aforementioned ball aches.
