I’m honestly both surprised and disappointed a conversation in DMs warrants a ban. Why not just suggest the user who was insulted block the user who insulted him?

In many servers mods are the exactly the type of a personality that will push his agenda/politics/worldview the moment he so much as whiffs a chance, and then ban people who disagree.
And if there are mods who ban people because SOMEONE on the server writes a DM to someone else … what can you even say here

Again, people existing isn’t polticial. That issue should have been solved in the 1940s, but somehow it keeps cropping up.

However NOT ONCE did I attack the mods or anything stupid like that.
A mod COULD have said no politics period and time out everyone BUT instead mod decided SOME politics is okay and anyone pointing it out got perma banned

What is the task of the moderators in this case? It is to moderate, and try to upkeep the community guidelines. To ban toxicity and similarly unpleasant whatnots. So, what to do when its revealed that a community member is a toxic ass, albeit a covert one? Naturally i´d say, it is to ban him out to make sure he doesnt get to stick around to harass others. This to follow the spirit of guiding the community towards being less toxic.

I disagree, my perspective is that moderators “job” is to moderate the server
NOT to moderate people DMing each other (ofc not counting bots and scams that goes without saying)
If we take some EXTREME example and one preson is DMing every person in the discord (and for the sake of argument its not a bot) then OKAY in that case ban the person from the server
But 99.999% of normal DMs are by definition outside the moderators “jurisdiction”

The mods job is to be keep toxicity and bad vibes down, so what to do when its revealed that a community member is sneakily harassing another, dropping slurs? What to do if the task is to weed out people who would do such a thing from their community? …Ban is the answer, will always be.
You do not get a free pass for being sneaky about it.

I’d say people who dont regard the MTX in darktide as toxic and damaging , are people who spread bad vibes. These people are objectively detrimental to the community cuz fatshark can use their feedback as “aha people dont mind the predatory MTX”
Mod in my mind is a person who has a set of rules for the chatroom and should follow that set of rules.
SOME mods in this discord are people who SAY their political opinion AND ban people with a different one
IF EVERYONE was banned then I would have zero issues with it, but thats not what happened.
