Deleting ranged threat = helping your team,
killing stuff, in general, helps your team. It doesn’t matter how.
What kind of teamplay element should be valued more?
I’ve used veteran cloak with columns+raking fire before. Think that was a build published on the loader. Good. But I think I prefer the shout and to shoot things face on.
I beg to differ. [You] running off for 15 seconds to kill two gunners = I could have done face on in 1 second, so … you know, it does matter how.
You hate it for its description, but not what it practically is. Literary anything else in zealots kit that provide toughness regen is better than loner, even 15% tdr aura can be better or equal for lone wolves. Loner doesn’t actually enable this kind of play style.
What if it was less than 15 seconds? What if it was crowd of gunners? could you really do it face on in 1 second?
I can also come up with a hypothetical situation that only benefits my argument. Making it ridiculous even.
It is obvious that any tool should be judged by its appropriate use. Not
just any nonsense.
Loner kinda sucks imo, two coherency is the same as when you are standing next to one person, and it doesnt give your team anything. The fact that it’s next to thy wrath be swift is probably why its picked so much - just for pathing.
You said it…? It’s your words?
You can play zealot however you like, I’m not being arrogant and telling you what to do. I play it as a character of mass destruction rather than tactical deletion of a specific enemy. You pays your money, you takes your choice.
But I disagree that all methods of killing things are equal, which is what you said. Taking a blunt knife to a crusher is definitely less efficient than nuking it with a plasma gun. Likewise I can pistol shoot two specials/elites fairly consistently within a second whereas the cloak is bad for allowing that.
Not really what i meant, but it sounds like that. Should have added “As long as it is efficient”. I’ve been thinking about teamplay comparison to solo kills at that moment.
playing with stealth is simple. i see someone stealthing i shoot any barrel they try to run past with autogun, Boom, suddenly no issues with stealth.
I wasn’t going for you, my man. Sorry if it sounded like that.
I’m genuinely bemused by the skill and I can’t like it even if I try! Maybe it’s just me and my playstyle on zealot - in their face!
There can be people who use stealth in a more cooperative way but that is few and far between with most people who spam stealth builds. Stealth can be used as a quick reposition tool to get backstabs or to do objectives and not just a tool to kill and elite and leave the team.
The best way I deal with the stealth types are to consolidate the around the team actually staying together and never feel the need to catch up to the one “lone wolf”.
The buddy system is the way.
As an Ogryn the punies will like it when you hover around them and, if you are lucky, naturally follow/wait for you if you show the slightest inclining of combat IQ.
You just deal whats dealt to you?
You fukin heathen.
TrueZealot? More like TrueHeretic lol
Either or, same sht diff day.
I do think a small change can be made to how the enemies react to a stealth mechanic. In V2 enemies will revert to their previous state if they have no target. This will cause enemies to go back to patrolling or standing still. Yes it may seem silly but it will prevent what happens in Darktide. Enemies in Darktide will target a new player after stealth is triggered (even if the new player hasn’t made contact or LoS).
I think this small change can help stem the tide, pun intended, with aggro-dumping.
Honestly if someone takes a stealth ult to speedrun just kick them, unless the whole team is moving at that pace. Stealth can be handy for clutches or dives, when I run it I try to stay close enough to the team and only really use it when advancing on a line of shooters or to get a quick revive off.
It’d definitely prevent these a-hole speedrunner-types from ruining runs by pulling the whole map, dumping it all on everyone and getting them killed, then picking them up before the next airlock just so they can do it all again in the next section.
Your suggestion would get yourself kicked by others. It’s too hard to tell how people will play unfortunately.
When people use stealth in a team-friendly way, the only way you ever actually notice it is when they use it to pick you up.
It’s one of those “if you do it right, nobody will be sure you’ve done anything at all” things.
I never use the Shroudfield. And when there is a Shroudfield zealot in my squad, I play more carefully because I know they are just about to dump all their aggro on me.
