How could the smoke grenades be improved?

I’m all for this suggestion

I think smokes could use work. They are not useless all the time but nor are they useless as often as they should be.

Imo there are two options

Scan smoke-adds an ability to the smokes that highlight specials and elites (simmilsr to Exe stance) that are inside or have passed through it for 30 seconds in addition to their current abilities.

Fully replace it with Sidearm- forgo a grenade entirely and you can instead equip any pistol class weapon from the vet roster. Has possibly no synergy or a different affect from grenade skills. To take it out is the grenade button as always, otherwise it uses normal ammo.

Smokes should extinguish fire.

Just mark/ping them.

Fatshark doesnt believe in “useless” discourse.

It’s a DT law that 99% of the time only 2 people on the team can ping, and OFC it’s 1 mob each.
How does one keep an entire crusher patrol and its rager entourage pinged in “friendly” smoke?

Ping every crusher at least once to show theres a group of them in the small area. If allies fail to realize then kinda skill/awareness issue.

Either way, if theyre the type to charge just any enemy ogryn, pls drop :joy:

The lack of people that ping…bothers me far more then it should. Like constant pings are annoying but resonable and normal pings can help out with awareness alot

i proposed that too (don’t remember if here or on reddit). the goal is to make them equally useful as shredders and kraks.

also, that penance with “engulf 2000 enemies in smoke” is just asking for throwing them into hordes. should be “stop x enemies from shooting”.

i think that FW’s suggestion, if it were added, should be the new penance requirement. i think it should be “suppress 100 fires and tox-gasses”

You think that 99% can ping more than 1 thing to let the team know there’s a patrol? Or realize it’s a patrol when they were 3-4 of them were just pinged?
Object permanence is not a thing in the WH40K universe.

Can you blame them
Most educated people deploy a guard unit or regiment and when they look away there’s a very good chance they’re all dead
