Hopefully I can clarify this a little!
We’re aware that the hookrat mechanic is a painpoint for Versus at the moment, and we’re looking at possible improvements we can make to alleviate issues in future.
Regarding hookrat out of bounds shenanigans, this is our current stance:
- Intentionally hooking someone in such a way that they end up inside the geometry of the map / under the map / out of map bounds is an exploit. Don’t do it.
- Hooking a player so they end up in a place that’s unreachable by Heroes but reachable by Pactsworn (such as a roof), we’d rather you didn’t do it, but it’s not a bannable offense at this time.
We appreciate that there is some nuance to this, and we try to assess all reports fairly and accurately. Of course,it’s possible to hook another player and unintentionally cause them to be placed out of bounds. This is something we’re very much keeping in mind, and factors like chat history and volume of reports are considered (e.g. one incident may be unintentional, whereas several incident reports against a player can indicate more of a trend/intent to exploit the mechanic).
I work closely with player reports, and we’ve actioned bans in all cases with sufficient evidence of players abusing this exploit. If there are players using this exploit deliberately for this length of time still, it may be that the reports we’ve received haven’t included clear enough evidence. It’s difficult to say without knowing the specifics really. Please continue to report any players abusing this exploit - with videos probably being the best evidence in these cases, as we can most clearly see what happened. Thanks!
