Technically, yes. Effectively, no. People always underestimated how much lifting the dodge linger time did against melee attacks. Now that it works against ranged attacks, it should be a bit more obvious.
Or they change the text of the description (they mention the faster dodges), or they fix what do not work as it is described.
seeking clarification here…
Am I understanding this all correctly that the Nimble Talent makes the dodge “faster” and so it’s over sooner - and that the actual distance traveled is not modified? Or is the distance traveled further AND the dodge is faster, and so the net result is that the dodge is still over sooner?
I think the above question is just in regards to the main part of the dodge itself, not the second “linger time” part.
This but distance is extended if I am right and the duration is also extended.
At the end, I think the effect is just that you dodge faster because you end your dodge sooner.
That is clearly a good thing, however, this is not described like that.
In other words, the bonuses are impacting each others to the point where you just move faster to dodge but keep the same dodge window.
The duration is extended via the “linger time” effect yes?
Stepping back then, this talent was causing issues because the while the dodge was faster and covered more distance (ie it was longer), the time it took was less - AND the linger time never applied to ranged hits (and thus the buff to linger time didn’t apply against ranged hits). So people were seeing longer and faster dodges, but they were open to being hit by ranged attacks sooner since the actual dodging time was less
Technically that would still be the case, except today’s hotfix makes linger time apply to ranged hits as well as melee.
Correct?
From what I understand the ranged linger time applies now to all dodges, except ogryns.
This would mean that an overall shorter dodge time from nimble would still be detrimental because you would be better off with a normal Dodge unless you care about Dodge distance.
that’s what I have understood.
So it may be incorrect… but that’s what I have understood ![]()
However, let’s face it… I should not have to think 30 minutes about a talent to begin to understand how it should and how it may work. The “should” and “may” have to be removed.
If we don’t understand the “in game description”, something is clearly and deeply wrong here.
I’m totally with you on the descriptions being awful. This is one of the more egregious descriptions blunders I’ve seen in the game.
Funny in the other thread that now people are saying the distance doesn’t actually change. I give up. No one seems to know how it works, and those that claim to know can’t seem to be able to explain it ![]()
Kuli is right
yes the ingame descriptions have been misleading for certain talents since theyve been added to the game, you need guides and mods to understand what the talents actually do… maybe some day fatshark will go through and ‘fix’ every talents wording to make sense, but that hasnt happened yet
It seems like Nimble right now is doing nothing/close-to-none difference.
With Nimble, your invulnerability window is cut by shorter dodge, but increased by longer linger, which is net like “nothing/close-to-none difference.”
Without Nimble, you get pretty much the same results.
It’s a “tax” node at best, with no value in it.
You should be worse off with nimble because the Dodge duration is still shorter and normal Dodge also has linger.
Not exactly true. When you’re out of effective dodges, they gradually slow down/lose distance. Nimble effectively lets you dodge like 8 more times into your negative dodges before it becomes too bad to use. It’s very powerful now that it doesn’t doesn’t drop a ton of iframes to ranged.
Not to mention that a lot of distance can be covered faster with fast dodges. Messed up pushing that burster and it’s exploding too close? Nimble can get you out of there
This is what the 50% dodge extension part is supposed to get you back to. It’s meant to be a faster dodge that has the same iframes, by design.
Nobody would understand it that way ever
That’s just how Fatshark tooltips are, what can you do. There’s blessings and talents that do completely unrelated things that aren’t even mentioned in the tooltip
I think people underestimate what hundreds of hours of dodging muscle memory being messed with will do to your survivability.
