Hive Scum Pickpocket complaint

Yeah, they worked fine against hordes and mid-tier enemies, but against big enemies were lacking. Am I talking about the dual uzis from DT or the dual pistols from L4D, I forget which.

Yeah, I like that it you had to keep riding the edge of running out.

it’s this “easy and low risk” aspect of shooting that irks many players. darktide is different from classic first person shooters by being centered around melee. gunning down everything at range invalidates the whole melee aspect which is riskier and into which most players put effort (hence also the distaste for smykers)

it’s not like the free ammo was taken away completely, you only need to also play a bit of melee to get it.

Left 4 dead

Deep rock galactic

Helldivers

GTFO

Killing floor

World war z

Aliens fire team elite

No more room in hell

Space marine 2

Back 4 blood

Cod zombies

Plenty of “click on the enemies from a distance” games to pick from, very few melee games

oh you can pretty much rely on me being angry the better part of the day

as for feedback, simply put :

force everyone on equal ground

demand equal effort of input for the same results

if necessary ditch those relying only on crutches

lot less anger from long term and committed players :man_shrugging:

Explain? :fearful:

the fairness or anger part? ogryn confused

Back 4 Blood has strong melee classes, i just wish it had dodging!

B4B melee was rudimentary if anything, like it was in L4D. It was a „strong” playstyle - sure, but it’s hardly a melee-centric game unlike Vermintide or Darktide.

The melee isnt as refined, but you can certainly play it melee centric and carry teams. Sadly the game will never get another update to fix its bugs and balance issues as Tencent bought it and stopped updating.

The angry part.

Noone’s mentioning anything about fem Ogryn’s in this thread.

well not much to it, you play to your max and on comes some boom bringer flying past erasing the whole cluster you’re about to whack.

same with gun-scum going perma brrrrt or psyker playing palpatine.

push a button vs dancing around the encounters.

not a fair comparison hence ogryn angry.

and scared seeing “kunigunde”

Loot everything

If someone complains, just remember him you never asked this change.

My personal suggestion would be to change pickpocket to something else.
Recover 2% ammo for every elite or special killed by melee (toxin excluded). No 20% cap… a passive talent that works all the time.

So, it was a good thing I played Vet instead of Hive Scum in the expeditions, right? :winking_face_with_tongue:

I can’t grief my squad anymore since the pickpocket nerf, but I understand what you mean!

Sometimes in Auric Maelstrom’s, I purposefully tried not to screen clear with my Dual Stubs so that my team can have fun too.

Speaking of being angry, I had a couple of failed Expedition runs yesterday. All with rank 40 players with hundreds of levels to their name.

They all rush off in separate directions and die on their own, or they don’t help out when someone dies or is gets aggro by bosses or hordes.

Every successful run I’ve had involves all four players staying together.

Nobody dies, it’s easy mode and you collect the most Tech Fragments (splitting has been incredibly inefficent so far since you have to deal with defend points by yourself), while when people split, people die or are cornered, and it becomes a race to the next safe house without being efficient in collecting Tech Fragments. :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

Stay together, please! :folded_hands:

yep :face_blowing_a_kiss:

pirx too didn’t overdo the scum when we were playing the event, not much event left after the “boom” :man_shrugging:

tell me about it, prior to our 3men or 2 days ago duo with pirx the amount of solo morons that “couldn’t” were off the charts.

one dude going ham and actually succeeding I respect, these wannabes with stealth mostly are just a nuisance.

had some hav40scum the other day replacing a bot and the game was a mess for it.

didn’t die too much but the pace was ass all over.

likewise with 3 randoms even if you stick with one, 2 others go to different directions each anyways, good luck salvaging that shitshow.

yep, all there’s to it.

you don’t even need to “play together” when surrounded by randoms just not pull every patrol there is from every direction is enough to not lose.

some higher math it seems few understand

I can sympathize with losing the play style but I do think the nerf was needed. Some others have come up with some interesting suggestions.

1.) Make it so that when you’re “out of ammo” you rely on bootlegged ammo and your ranged weapons suffer all kinds of penalties.

2.) Make it a “peril mechanic” where when you start relying on cultist ammo you’re picking up you have a chance to blow up.

3.) Add it to the key stone, and make it a deep investment but still with some form of limitations.

4.)… Why don’t we actually just make it do what it says on the can? You go to the corpse of an enemy who had a range weapon and you have to hold E to turn them around red dead style and pick up a small amount of ammo. This makes you vulnerable and takes up time for you to recover some ammo, while your teammates are moving on and killing things. You can adjust what enemies are pick pocketable, how long it takes, and how much ammo it gives you.

This has been my experience too, I have met several times one true survivor scum player that runs of on his own and actually survives though which is fine by me but people who run of and die annoy the grut out of me.

exactly that @scum, the boom brutes event or what they called it was egregious. literally, the challenge for me playing scum was to see the biggest clump of enemies and fire a rocket at it before another scum does. played the rest of the event as ogryn with Index because it was braindead with rockets and the ogryn was left holding his pickaxe.

in expeditions the ammo is limited at least.

and expeditions, you saw how easy it is when everyone runs into the same direction, but with randoms it is like herding cats. and those h40 guys should know to stick together of all people, but lol no.

Yesterday did a simple mission (yes I don’t play expeditions). We were at the final stage of a map… when I have left the mission… it was too much.
First time I played vet for… don’t even know, maybe 1 year and half or 2. It was great… a litle easy… EXCEPT, I used a powersword and after 2 years I was not used to the weapon. So made 3 mistakes, and always with dogs. Killed lot of dogs, mutants etc… but these 3 dogs made me loose 95% of the total HP I have lost in the mission.
Reason? because the several times I tried to help the st#$%^p Ogryn, that was rushing and always getting into difficulties, he always left me in middle of 372 enemies and continued to rush…
The last time, this was too much…

But… PS is always as strong as it was, and as slow as it has always been… lasergun… well, not sure I love it, but I don’t dislike the changes.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the melee combat of Darktide. But one spec of one class being a pure FPS class is fine.

Besides, even with those others being FPS games mainly, they’re still not as good as DT’s gameplay loop. I love being surrounded by enemies and having to use good dodging to stay alive while I reload.
