After a little break (15-20 minutes) in the Keep between games I chose a Quick Play game. Got Hunger in the Dark and soon after map loaded I wanted to pick an item - my hero slowed down and started to move in one direction even after releasing direction button. I had issues like this earlier so I knew it won’t resolve by itself, I left the game. Another Quick Play - same thing: same Hunger in the Dark game, can’t pick up items, hits do not register, can’t block, but everyone else seems fine - they are running around, killing rats, picking up items, picking ME up aswell. Left once again, another QP, same host, same story.
Then I wanted to check if picking game manually would solve the issue, so I chose Fort Brachsenbruke. After map loaded - same issues as before, but just to be curious I’ve waited till the end of a match (when I’ve joined they were loading a cannon) and at the very end I’ve got: COULDN’T_RESOLVE_HOST screen.
After restarting game there was also a General’s Vault from that game and I know for sure it was last game award, because Morr’s Messenger challenge was incremended by one and also Trial By Plague IV: Mercenary got Fort checked, wasn’t before.

Sorry to hear about this, do you happen to have the ‘Small Network Packets’ option enabled within the ‘Network’ panel, and are you using the Player List Plus mod?
Out of curiosity, this is related to not being able to resolve the host (i.e. malfunctioning DNS), have you had similar issues before? Are you in a country with a problematic view of an open Internet? (i.e. China, Russia etc)
@FatsharkJulia For both questions - yes. Forgot to mention mods that I’m running, should consider they could be an issue. As for the turned option - I do not remember why I turned it on, but probably to check if it helps with frequent disconnects that I had some time ago (but that may be caused also by my ISP).
Mods that I’m currently running:
Vermintide Mod Framework
Numeric UI
Skip Intro
Weapon Kill Counter
My Hero
Chat Block
Armory
Player List Plus
@EmpIzza Yes, I play from the very release and had similar issues to this day - with periods when it was more/less frequent or even absent. I remember overriding my DNS to 1.1.1.1. I live in Poland, so at least that shouldn’t be an issue.
As for the link I get blank screen and in a browser’s Network tab there’s a 404 GET request for that url.
There is a known negative interaction between the ‘Small Network Packets’ option and the Player List Plus mod which would explain the bizarre behaviours (hits not registering and whatnot). The mod author is aware, but we can only recommend disabling the mod to avoid these issues at this time.
How often have you encountered the COULDN’T_RESOLVE_HOST error? Just the once?
@FatsharkJulia It depends what to you mean by ‘often’. Since the start of the current beta patch I recall seeing screen with this error only once, as described by original post. But if you meant ‘how often since I started playing’ I could grep through the console logs I have with this particular error and post them here, because I remember it happen a bunch of times.
Thank you for your time the advice, I wasn’t aware of issue with this mod - guess I was searching for a wrong thing.
EDIT: I have 19 log files which have COULDNT_RESOLVE_HOST in them if you are interested
I’ve changed my DNS to Cloudflare just to check if it inpacts performance in any way - it certainly didn’t make it worse, so I kept it. I do not remember exactly when did I make that change, not recently for sure. First console log with mentioned error is from 2018-03-22.
Now that you mention it, sadly I can’t really configure my router in any other way than changing my WiFi SSID, password and channels - all router configuration is on ISP side. There could be some proxy to their DNS, right? nslookup shows me 1.1.1.1, but is it what is really being used - no idea. My network-oriented knowledge goes so far.

And as far as dates go only two first from march do not fit anywhere.
EDIT: If you meant IP changes within day, then yes - some log dates match dates when IP was changing, though not all:
Your ISP could do “whatever” to your DNS requests if you are not using some form of validation, such as DNS-over-HTTPS or DNS-over-TLS, so without getting too technical try:
Just follow the instructions for Windows (I’m assuming you are not gaming on Linux, since most peeps who are as crazy as me know their stuff around DNS / all kinds of networking).
(On a side-note, I’m very surprised that it has taken till 2018(!) for DoH to be standardised, the first really viable alternative to normal port 53 UDP-based DNS, I mean, an evil ISP or state could essentially block or control everything on the Internet from the user perspective…)
Since not all are overlapping I think it is something else. I’d recommend the above to try simplednscrypt for DoH to Cloudflare or someone else.
