I just used damnation to level up my death cult assassin. It clearly is for players who don’t have minmaxed gear.
I only dislike low-intensity Damnation, especially when quickplay matchmaking seem to prioritize it over normal Damnation.
Oh bug off. People who want to increase Damnation difficulty should first delete all the stuff they gained from it.
Just keep everything as is but add extra mission mods.
So have hi int stg as the current highest difficulty and then add a extra modifier on after that to make it more interesting.
Everything hard should be Opt in and people who just hit level 30 should always have a way to farm up plasteel easily so they can upgrade there gear and transition into the ultra hard challenges.
Can just add more modifier to standard like melee elites always spawn with hordes so on malice you get like 2 ragers and 2 maulers in a horde and on damnation Hi int melee elite you get like 20 ragers and 20 maulers and no small guys.
matchmaking
Yes i get tired of STG, I would like more variety of Auric modifiers, an "elite"gauntlet that has more elites for example, the special can turn in weaker monstrosities modifier is hell of fun, could be nice to add it to a Hi Int mission.
But about OP statement i disagre, if you want a simple Hi Int mission you can always find it. It’s good for the game to have a smooth progression in difficulties.
No, you have another entire level above it.
Regular and low intensity damnation are there for people to farm out plasteel at relatively fast enough rate.
TLDR you have options for more difficult gameplay
But other people DONT have the option to farm plasteel at a normal rate
Average Heresy is 380± plasteel IF people are looking around.
Average Damnation is 600+ IF people are blind
It needn’t be so, just allow users to customize tasks. And the task will be private.
It would be helpful if we had some in-game statistics regarding:
- The percentage of people below lv30 who queue for each difficulty
- The percentage of people at lv30 who queue for each difficulty
- The total number of missions queued for each difficulty per day
- The total number of missions completed for each difficulty per day
This would help us understand better how “popular” and how “difficult” each difficulty is and consequently it would be easier to answer questions such as “is normal Damnation the new Heresy?” / “is HI-INT Damnation the normal damnation?”
There was a small poll for V2 (hundred or so people)
These are THE MOST interested in the game people and only single digit % played Cata+
Most people played Legend or Champion.
But Vermintide was a bit different.
Even if little, your power capped in lower difficulties, getting all reds just doing champion would require a considerable amount of time. And below that it was virtually impossible.
In darktide, especially if the gods of RNG are on your side, you can get carried by gear a lot.
The game pushes you to play higher difficulties much more.
Edit
And don’t forget that Cata is still gated behind a paywall.
Tbh, I disagree with OP.
Regular damnation has to remain the normality. I started to play Auric and was surprisely easy. In normal damnation, you find people that try to learn this difficulty level, they tend not to just be unlucky but do lot of errors… In Auric you team with players that know what they have to do, this makes the game easier.
I miss low intensity, not for me but for players that try to climb the difficulty levels.
There is a huge gap between malice and heresy, and even a low intensity heresy was hard when you were trying to go from malice to heresy.
I would say that, now, with Auric you can select what you want as difficulty if you like challenges. No need to impose that to others.
I honestly don’t care about that, given that auric exists. But they should fix the true issue at hand:
Increase spawn and enemy density back to what it was.
The game feels empty in comparison to before.
Nerfing it to accomodate xbox players is such a slap in the face. Because let’s be honest, it’s the reason why it has been done). First we get no option to opt out of Crossplay, now we have to suffer lower spawnrates.
Starting Damnation is there to see how hard the enemies hit and how resistant they are.
Plus it is the only difficulty where getting resources is somewhat acceptable - every game is guaranteed at least purple, and you can afford to take a grey to purple after one mission.
I would love to see MUCH more low intensity damnations JUST for the sake of farming and completing weekly quests
BUT with a caviat - YOU choose if you play LOW or HIGH intensity, not RNG
Frankly, I doubt that a console player will be able to play Auric without being carried. This is the way to opt out for xbox crossplay
Absolutely. But it takes time for them to understand that. The past few weeks of auric have been littered with lvl 30+1 console people. You can immediately tell by the slow turn lol.
We made a habit out of having everyone do the 360° spin slide when starting the map to root out console people and kick them honestly.
Elite gauntlet used to be a mutator but they removed it because it was bugged somehow, I never learned why.
All they really need to do is take the new mutators from maelstrom missions and pair them with high intensity to give auric more variety and not just 90% shock gauntlet all day long. We already have high intensity sniper gauntlet and high intensity dog swarms, we just need more of them.
First of all, big thanks from me and Flawless for the kind description of our playstyle
But I have to agree with you, harshly said the noobs are taking over the auric que. No judgement, no feelings, it’s just a fact.
Hell, I remeber rushing into Damnation emediatly after I unlocked it with level 25 [I think, was almost a year ago] feeling the full force that the game [at the time] could throw at you. And it was fun, but back then everyone was new and it was ok to be randomly matched with all kinds of players.
Now, most of the players that I encounter in the auric missions are mostly casual players level 30 + ca. 20 extra levels. And it just sucks to try the same missions over and over and over because as you nicely put it teammates don’t carry their wheight.
So I would love to see a matchmakeing system, just for auric missions, based on player performance…
This comment will probably get lost anyway but it is what it is and at the end of the day even when on a loosing streak the game is still insanly fun to play ^^
After several matches on Auric Damnation, I admit that this game has become too easy after the new patch. There were many situations where we should have been dead a long time ago, but we did it without full focus.
