I cant quick throw to short fuse the grenade, does not matter if i click or hold the left mouse button the grenades acts as if i hold the button, the fuse takes same amount of time.
Any help with this?
the quick through cutoff is VERY short, it youâre able to aim youâre going to take too long. preaim, then just tap the button without adjusting at all.
Yeah, there are two timers with most grenades. One starts when you throw it and the second starts when it hits something. The second one will override the first, so even if it was just about to blow up, if it hits the floor or a mobâs head, itâll still take a second or two to blow. There is no way to âcook it offâ in tour hand, but when you underhand toss the grenade, the second timer is relatively much shorter. Use that when the enemy is on top of you.
Even non-explosive grenades, like rocks and throwing knives, still have a first timer but instead they disappear, so, no they donât quite have infinite range.
For the penance, you have to lob the grenade in a very high arc without hitting any geometry or enemies and ideally have it explode right at head-level in a crowd. This was a lot easier when the game still had standing hordes, big groups of poxwalkers just aimlessly standing waiting to be aggroed. Now, they only spawn occasionally on lights-out maps and usually not in good lobbing spots. As far as getting the timing, itâs fairly easy. If you have good enough graphics, the game shows the whole trajectory of the lob and it stops where the timer runs out, so you can adjust the angle to get the height right. Maybe try to practice some in the Psykhanium and you can get it with a running horde as they pass through some choke-point or other.
Back in the day, it was best to get on one of the maps that start on the big open-air bridges. They had good chances of spawning standing hordes too. You might still be able to get it on a group of ambient shooters if you are lucky and catch them clumped up.

itâs not hard, itâs just one of those things you kinda get eventually. try not to think too hard about it or worry about saving grenades.
Well, itâs not impossible. My group just helped a friend get it a few weeks back. He got it on Chasm Station assassination mission. He first tried on some ambients on that big bridge at the start, but whiffed. So we moved ahead, and then got a horde that spawned below us and climbed up. He got it to airburst just over the little bit of grating that they climb up on. Even at that spot it took him two tries to get the timing right but he got it.

Nah, this is an easy one. All you need to do is learn the distance a grenade will fly before detonating, then throw a grenade at a group of enemies that are that distance away.

Just throw all your nades in a horde from some long distance (like 20m) so it will detonate above their heads. You can practice throws to learn the distance in psykanium.
i did mine on the ââbridge of foolsââ on silo cluster map while waiting for the elevator
its fairly easy once you realize your biggest hurdle will be getting a map that can let you do it in the first place as the grenades youll be using have godawful fuses that just seem to never work how you want them to.
first, youll need to find a portion of the map youre on that has a very long unobstructed view.
second, youll need to wait for a horde to spawn or be lucky a large group is already at the far end.
thirdly, take out your grenade and aim as high as you can but not too high that the grenade wont reach the group and then throw it.
once thats all done all you have to do is wait for it to complete because if you aimed it correctly and far enough the bomb will blow up inches above their heads.
its really easy to complete but awkward as hell if you dont know how to work with the jank of veteran grenades.

All maps have areas with enough vertical and horizontal space for this.
You can do it on any map, if you know what to do.
If you know how your grenades work (and you apply that knowledge) your grenades can and will work exactly how you want them to.
As this guy said^, it is pretty easy, because grenade behavior is predictable (fixed fuse time after grenade leaves hand) and can be learned.
You should be able to get the penance by simply replicating the following:
- Select a target on flat ground and tag it, or put a waypoint on it.
- Make sure to be ~40m away from the enemy (distance is displayed on the marker).
- Equip your frag grenade and hold down the left mouse button (unobstructed flight path needed).
- Aim at the targetâs feet/legs with the mouse icon that shows up (see circle on 2nd image).
- Throw your grenade and see how it explodes just above the targetâs head.
Note: My screen has a 1920x1080 resoution.
If you have a different screen resolution than i have, you might have to aim higher/lower or stand closer/further to the enemy.
Just test it in the psykhanium.
Edit: Apparently, the fuse time of grenades in the psykhanium is different than in missions.
In missions, you can still do the penance with ease by simply looking at where the trajectory line (that appears while you hold left click when wielding a grenade) ends.
Here is how I did it: Play that yellow dust desert whatever map. There is that part where you need to gather 3 power cells in a small arena to stop a big vent and pass through.
Stay on the roof of that arena until the first player jumps down and triggers the horde.
The horde will spawn at the opposite site of that arena. Wait a second or two, then throw the grenades; normal throw, normal timer, nothing special. Just throw far. Dunno if it was without modifiers or with extra horde.
It was more difficult to find this place by trial and error than to get the penance.

Came here to thank you, finally i got this penance, i used your method and is super easy, i tried some times with no luck and after another google search i saw trhat i was using the wrong grenade, that is krak, with this grenade it is impossible to get this penance. Itâs possible to get the penance even with smoke grenades but not krak nades. After i use my build with shredder grenade and the talent that expands blast radius +25% i got the penance and the achivement in the first try in that part of the hourglass TRS-150 mission.

A good place I found was the chasm logistratum finale. Around the time you have looted the first train (the left one from the entrance), a patrol usually walks through the entrance and you can try to bean them from the first train or the valkyrie .
Tried in that mission too with no success because i was using krak grenades, so many tries wasted because the wrong choice, lol.
This penance is really easy to do on silo cluster because when you get to the bridge a horde spawns behind you as soon as you call the elevator. Just stand at one end and throw grenades high into the air until they explode at head level, ez.
