Are you ok guys ? We got less and less info…
Have you traveled to the Bermuda Triangle?
I think they have a major update and in true fatshark faction are Being Utterly Silent rather than actually telling us about it in advance.
Think they’ve seen how mad gamers get when they are promised something and don’t get it. So I’m sure they are just playing it safe
Where’s the grutting vet weapon!?
It’s the christmas vacations soon, you can’t bother them…
You’d think they’d actually put in the effort to make things happen rather than going utterly silent, then.
Hey, guys at FS. If nobody holds your hostage and your are fine, drop some major update for the game, then we’ll know for sure!
Wouldn’t be the safest play here is to actually implement things and expand the game?
Fatshark’s MO is to drop a big update, disappear/be silent for several months, address some of the bugs they introduced/brought back, go silent again, then drop another big update with little fanfare so it has minimal impact on drawing players back. Then go on vacation.
EDIT: They’re also shy little pandas. Any criticism will send them retreating back fifteen steps from the tentative few they made towards more communication. It’s like trying to coax a scared little baby bunny out of a hole, if that bunny was a video game company that seemed to have no understanding of how to keep their community happy.
EDIT 2: Sorry, should have said “shy little sharks” and “scared little baby shark”.
hedge → catfish → strawhat → kitefin
just how many CMs are going to be replaced? Is it because the working conditions inside the company aren’t good, or is it that the higher-ups have no real plan and are just appointing whoever as CM on the fly?
Well, in any case, no matter who becomes CM in the future, it seems clear that the update details won’t be shared until right before the update when the information embargo is lifted.
I like how fatshark are always completely caught completely unaware of their mandatory Swedish holidays that happen every year at the same times and are completely and utterly unable to plan around them.
these breaks that always happen at the same time year after year for their nearly 2 decades of operating as a Swedish company are always a complete surprise to them and they’re completely unable to work around them.
Some of them have just moved on naturally in the course of life. Thinking of Aqshy in particular. It is kind of ironic that the (partially) deaf lady gave us some of the best communication we’ve had out of FS. I still miss her.
Look I’m sorry to be a bit mean here but clearly Strawhat didn’t prep Kitefin nearly as well as they claimed because the downgrade in communication has been monumental since Strawhat left.
I don’t get it man, is it really that unreasonable to expect a CM to actually read the official forums and occasionally put out some fires? Is it really that impossible to give at least a rough estimate to expect the next major update?
I just can’t fathom what actually goes on over there day to day in the Fatshark offices.
I’ve only really noticed kitefin just address issues that have come with the forum getting updated.
nothing to actually do with saying anything to do with anything upcoming for dt.
There was zero big content this year.
Mortis is a joke.
Arbiter you’d say.
Sure, but to keep killing vanilla mobs?
In vanilla maps?
We need new missions desperately it’s been a while since we’ve gotten a new standard mission.
im willing to give them the benefit of the doubt in the past that releasing new missions that push the story forward while working on the now released story overhaul that actually put things in an actual order would have been counterintuitive but now it’s out we need to actually see the basis of the story we have actually go somewhere
Also name dropping genestealer cults and eldar in mortis has to go somewhere, chekhov’s gun and all that.
Also they said they want to make the cult and the 6th more distinct as factions rather than just different slices of the same pizza with slightly different toppings
Veteran hasn’t received an update for a long time, so considering the CM’s past statements, the next update might bring a skill tree rework along with a new weapon. Two new maps or so would also be reasonable.
That said, it’s Fatshark, so nothing would be surprising no matter what happens🤔
Nothing wouldn’t be surprising
That would be the norm
New levels take a considerable amount of work. And even then, you’re just fighting all the same things in a new arena. I could be wrong, but I’d think the best bang-for-the-buck in game variety per dev effort terms would be new units.
A whole new faction would be a lot of work all at once, so I get if they don’t want to do that but there are obvious niches that could be filled. Niches that were filled in VT2 but have never been here. Scab sergeants and Dreg priests for local buffs and elite variety. Chaos psykers with specialized abilities (a la life leech and blightstormer) and chaos sorcerers could be super-elite/monster class (or even assassination target) and have more varied ability set. Could even do funky things to play havoc with players comfort zones. Psykers that prevent ult use or project their own shields. That could be diabolical. Ogryn beserkers, plague bearers, plague toads, etc. etc.
Name dropping means nothing in this game any more than it did in VT2. It’s just lore drops. Stuff to tie it into the wider setting and get 40k newbies interested in the whole thing. DoW1 did that with loading screen lore tidbits and it got me hooked. The only banter “hints” I would give any credence to would be the ones about the immediate setting. Stuff to do with Tertium, Atoma, the Moebian Domain, and the Fringe. And even then, it may be a red herring. Or they might change their minds and do something entirely different leaving the old, now-nonsensical voicelines in.
If they did do a new faction though, I know a lot of people seem to be quite keen on genestealer cults. I have personally always found them quite bland but to each their own. For myself, I’d like to see the “Noxians” or whatever they are actually called, the primary xenos enemies of the Fringe War and the main contingent of the eponymous “Darktide”. Since they are supposed to be gobbling up poorly defended planets one after another and headed straight toward Atoma, the setup is all there for them.
